Are you sure there isn't something floating around in the oil gallery behind the pressure sensor and getting pushed up on the gallery and reducing flow? Maybe try an old style mechanical pressure gauge a few zip ties up in to the cab and see if you are loosing oil pressure when it happens. Paul

do farmers in Europe ever use these for ploughing ??? I know the idea has been out there for a long time since WW2 you could buy after market kits for ex army Jeeps to all sorts of farm work Land Rover had all sorts of big ideas in 3PL as well but none of it has ever taken off for farm use like tractor Mercedes made 4x4 tractors for some time in the 80's that were more tractor than truck but even they sought of failed to be long lasting sellers JCB have been making the fast trac but I never really seen them getting used as tractors 70 years hey my how time flies

Im getting a fair bit of topic here but when talking fuel economy in the fuel crisis back in the 70's a lot of research was done the single biggest factor was speed once you went above 80 kmh it made a huge difference the figures from memory was something along the line of twice as much hp to travel at 100 kmh with a van type trailer flat top tarped loads were the best double stock crates were the worst 7MPG was common back then on interstate trucks or at least it was achieved in large fleets under test Talking about wheel slip on drive tyres I have noticed the only tyres that get real hot are drive tyres so I reckon there must be a fair degree of wheel slip in trucks pulling big loads and a huge amount in trucks running fast Paul

I would guess around 45 - 50 MPH average speed not many towns in a lot of Australia and no you dont need a lot of power to get moving I have 320 under the bonnet and it is rated to 115 ton from Mack and you can easily get that moving under most circumstances have had one occasion I had it jump out low 2nd climbing a hill came to halt I needed deep reduction to lift off and was wheel spinning on the bitumen but that was more waiting for the last axle group brakes to release I was fairly tightly wound at the time and if I was a tad calmer it would have lifted of fine OOP'S The biggest thing in keeping these bigger loads moving at any speed is wind head winds crook if I have the breeze coming across at a 45 degree angle across the front thats a fair bastard and I have spent the odd hour or two at 30 MPH As for higher power Timmy I think would give a much better answer than me Paul

I would agree 100% I have stated many times on here most people dont realize how flat Australia is, it's the flattest continent on earth hence we can pull thumping big loads over a huge distance with what may seem like a small amount of power to do it with

No Tim The government know what has to be done to keep the manufacturing industry competitive and it isnt handing out bucket loads of cash they did that and it didnt work If you look back at history you can see when Australia was running at its best and the way the country was run the policies the government had in place to make that happen and it did work and work really well we had full employment almost everything was made here overseas companies would set up factories to build gear Todays world and it has been heading this way for 35 years or more the government have slowly been undermining everything Australians have worked for Our Prime ministers have stated "no one should have to work in a job they dont like for a living", "we must become the clever country", "Every person should go to university " The government has openly encouraged the importation of cheap crap at the cost of Australia jobs , they set up policies for kids leaving school were there is great shame in becoming a factory worker or tradesman heck for that matter any blue collar job The government have set Ford and Holden up to fail by handing out bucket loads of cash to on the condition they keep on building these cars people dont want anymore Had they have butted out and left the country as it was back in the early 70's none of this would have happened , the biggest catalyst for change was when the UK joined the EEC or the EU as its called today the Australian government was so desperate to find trading partners they signed away the very heart and soul of this country for a little bit of trade Has it worked ???? well we can all be a judge on that but one thing that no person can deny is the Australia of the past is a lot safer than the Australia of today and all sorts of ways We had safety in job security, safety in a economy that was booming, safety as in health and well being, safety in we could and would build everything and anything and were the world leaders in most things We have let this all go shame on us Paul
