If it was me the biggest concern I would have in the back of my mind is if they cant even get it right now before the truck gets delivered what will happen if once you take delivery and you have a problem will the same BS follow, as Dr Phil says the best predictor of there future performance is there past performance I would speak to Mack them selves on the telephone take notes of everything that is said I guess with todays modern phones you could record it all but Im not that smart and I hate to say this if it still dosnt feel right walk away from the deal and I would tell Mack the reason why to so that they have a understanding of there dealers performance You might be surprised at what just may come of it all prepare your self before you make the phone call take the time to get it right in your head try to put it all on paper before you call them follow it up with a letter with all the dates and times of what has been said and by who most times if there has been a problem companys will bend over backwards to try and fix it and they will if your dealer is wrong pull your dealer into line It should never come to this but life just works that way some times good luck Paul

Guy most the Mack road trains and heavy haulage units out here in Australia right up until the E9 were were Mack six cylinders 320 Coolpower as we called them They were either Maxidyne or Thermodyne most believe were the thermodyne and even after the E9 400 hp was released the 320 Thermodyne was still a big seller and some were even put into super liners the gross weight of the road trains were 115 ton max I always felt the fitment of a Thelma retarder would be a big advantage to a Mack motor the dynatard is pretty useless Paul
  5. as farmer 52 says and if your going to leave it for a long time with out touching the clutch you maybe able to push a bit of wood to hold the clutch disengaged and then it can never stick again but I wouldnt buy a new clutch a would just put it back in it will clean it self up in no time at all and work the clutch every few weeks a few times Paul

  7. Paul I am shocked I have never seen another thing like that in my life thats how should I put it "OUT THERE" you could park that in a normal car park just hang the bonnet over the gutter might even block the foot path LOL Paul

Yeah I can see I didnt explain my self very well if all six exhausts are going into the one manifold then exhaust gases all get mixed together and turn into one gas the result of the six different gases mixed and the pyro temp would be the average of the six so it is quit possible that one cylinder could be 200 degrees C and the other and another 300 and two at 400 and one at 1000 and I dont know the last one at say 550 degrees C so if we add them all together we get 2850 divide that by six = 475 degrees which on the pyro gauge would look all ok but as you can see the temps are all over the place and one of them to stage it's gunna melt a piston Dunno if I have helped to explain or made me look more of a fool Paul

Im no hot rodding type of person but trying to think of how it could happen leads me to think of it like this If only one cylinder is running hot the pyrometer wont pick that maybe because the overall heat spread across six pots will still measure ok so although you may be watching the pyrometer like a hawk the one cylinder getting hot might not show up due to the rest of the cylinders running cool if that makes any sense Im just thinking out aloud as stated above the most likely cause is a fuel problem and that can only be two things to much fuel or the timing at least that is my understanding good luck Paul
  10. The head lights are all in unusual posistions on the trucks over there I gather like the DM's it is some local requirement do you know if these bottom ones were six cylinders or V8's Paul

  24. you blokes never had a butter box for your butter back in the day that sat in the pantry ???? Butter was never kept in the fridge once upon a time before we became all big girls blouses and everything had to be sanitised kept at the proper temp Paul
