I think back in the day every truck driver in Australia prefered spiders spokes daytons what ever you call them because tyres were no were near as good as they are now and flats were common depending on were you were 3 or 4 flat tyres a day so when you had those Bud rims with 2 rows of nuts to undo if it was a inside duel or when the inner nut sticks to the outer one and you have to stuff around and its 100 degrees in the shade those five or six stud spiders look like a dream Having said all that today I hardley ever see any truck sold with spiders tyres are better roads are a dream and no more bloody double rows of nuts are the good old day hey Paul

I think every one has just about summed it up I have said it before on here back in the sixtys when Maixidynes first came out in OZ they did a road test between Melbourne and Sydney and they proved that although the Maxidyne felt slower over a long journey it proved to be quicker and cheaper to run than anything else that was around on the day Just a bit more useless information Melbourne to Sydney is about 800 km and crosses our biggest mountain range twice so before spending big heaps of coin you cant get back it might just pay to check some figures Paul

dunno about that I have only broken a center bolt twice and it pretty much becomes uncontrollable straight away like Im driving a yacht down the road I end real busy real quick on the steering wheel if it was mine I would fix it while its apart when I have broken a center bolt I have to pull up straight away and wrap some fencing wire or chain around the axle to the spring hanger just so it drives half reasonable Paul

How do blokes work in that cold brrrrrr I remember working on construction in Melbourne I worked on lifts or elevators as you call them over there and we were putting lifts in anyway there is no lift doors on the lift shaft so its like a big chimney freezing cold hands sticking to anything steel we had to be big girly men and were gloves no one in Australia wear's gloves anyway one of the fitters he is doing up a rail clamp and the spanner breaks and gives him this black eye and the spanner is stuck to his black eye so we go down to the smoko shed and pour warm water over his face and spanner to get them to release thats the coldest I have ever worked in brrr looks like that shed is coming along great Paul I realize that story is most likely pretty lame buy everyones standards over in there but or climate is no were near that cold in this wide brown land

could you put a air ride base on your seats that way you can keep your original look I dont think air ride seats make a lot of difference myself but backs are funny things they all effect us different good luck with what ever you do Paul

I always find it funny how I sometimes talk to someone on the phone for years some times and I really get to know them I think and I get a picture in my head of what some one will look like and then one day I happen to meet them and they are nothing what I think they will look like every time with out fail it happens Paul

Hey Bullhusk is there some were like a website or a book I can buy that has the Timken diff axle suspension spec's I have looked every were on the net and cant find stuff all I have a truck with 10.22 back end and wanted to change it to a better ratio but never had any luck finding anything any help or leads would be much appreciated Paul

thanks steve I was trying to ask the spare parts man in Townsville the other day and he didnt seem to no so before I order the parts I want to make sure I was getting the right parts I take it you have done one of these before Theres not gunna be much of my original cab left well I guess there will be a bit but its a good truck and it has never let me down so I reckon I owe it at least a few panels Paul

Ok lads not have much of a response here so I will stick up some picks of what I am chasing see if it can get anyones grey matter working for me ok on this first one I am after the front and back drip rail or gutter I have the two for each side and the roof I can see 60 in the picture but I reckon that is pointing to the back wall of the cab not the drip rail so I guess I am after some part numbers for the back and front drip rail now in these next two after part number for 27 in the bottom picture now the fella in the spare parts department wasnt sure if 38 in the top picture was the same as 27 in the bottom picture Also is 1 in the bottom picture the drip rail I didnt think so but the parts fella wasnt sure I reckon it belongs on the top of the window frame anyway any help or pointers you all could give and some proper Mack part numbers so I can order parts would be appreciated thanks fellas Paul

yeah baby yeah you got it and you have got it home well done as has been said above lots of photos and a some youtube stuff when your ready mate I wouldnt worry about that quad box there pretty tough they were used out here behind V8 Macks on road train work groos weight 100 tons plus and went ok they arent as tough as Maxi torque but are plenty strong enough if you look after them Paul

yes a few years ago cost over 150 lives them greenie tree hugger types after WW2 when we then had the gear big dozers ect there was fire breaks put in that the astronauts could see from space after big bush fires in the 30's we had huge fuel reduction burns every year right up until the early 80's then them dam greenies said no more and I reckon it was 83 when we ash Wednesday we lost 80 odd lives we thought we would never see that again but 30 years a lot of people forget just how bad things were greens have more power than ever the fires are getting bigger and floods are getting bigger The greens blame global warming I say BULL SHIT if you dont have them big fire breaks whats to stop the fire if the logger's arent allowed into get timber anymore whos gunna maintain the roads not the bloody government theres no votes in that and as for floods if you take all the water off the farmers so the dams stay full for people to water ski and sail boats it stands to reason that your gunna have huge floods like we did before the dams were built as theres no were for the water to go and if you dont maintain the flood banks or levies as I think you blokes call them it only stands to reason we will have big floods more excuses for them greenies and it only floods farmers and theres not enough of them to change the votes anymore anyway who needs farmers we will just import the food yeah right thats gunna work well but what would I no Im just a dumb ass farmer sorry about the rant but we need a government with balls and it really makes my blood boil that this great country is been squandered away and those damb fools at the top say we cant just change we cant afford to if they wanna know how have a look at history our greatest time of wealth the 50's and 60's we just had a big war WW1 then the depression then WW2 which we couldnt really afford how did we do it pretty simple we made it happen we worked together as a country and we were world leaders in just about every thing and we paid our dept off as well if I dont say something I guess Im part of the problem Rant over I'll shut up and let it get back on topic Paul
