  1. might be more more than just one thing hiding in the background you blokes have sharper eyes than me that is one cool looking truck Paul
  2. It's not coming out of what ever the gear was when you rolled to a stop and when you put it in first gear you are then getting stuck in two gears it will be a cheap fix will have to pull the floor out and see whats not lined up or what has worn off then just weld the piece up that has worn down or adjust dog on the rod in the top of the box to close the gap up ( you will see what Im on about when you have the top off the box ) I reckon it will take longer to get all the stuff out of the cab than it will to fix the problem wont be the clutch as it only happens in one gear oh yeah welcome and what a great looking truck looks real handy for bringing all sorts of bargins home gotta love the tail gate lifter This fix I reckon you should be able to do your self no problem at all Paul
  3. mate the grease wont run out centrifical force will see to that it dont matter how hot it gets but I could be wrong when we grease uni's always grease till new grease comes out all 4 cups very rare any thing fails Paul
  4. wow what an adventure looks green over there not what I expected I would have thought snow and ice great job Paul
  5. you have got to kidding me talk about the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen fair dinkum what a pack of knobs fancy wasting money on that wouldnt they be better off spending there money building real motors again or maybe even real cabs that are all steel you see to many roo's on the road as it is tearing of clearance lights fuel lines air lines and the list goes on what are we gonna end with a roo on the bonnet instead of a dog we all know you aint driving a real truck unless your looking at a dogs ass all day and they wonder why they have trouble selling trucks now bl__dy w__kers need to get back to making reel trucks that pull the ass out of the ocean and will do it all day long year in year out with no electronics to let go but as I've said before what would I know sweet F A Paul
  6. Let me guess you were thinking Im sure you've been told its not your job to think Paul
  7. what a great job you gotta be pretty proud of that Paul
  8. sounds like the scoop we all used to have over the back window of station wagons once who would have thought we were all greenies once before it was even popular Paul
  9. as said above the power should be equally divided between all wheels all of the time until a wheel starts to slip as that is what a diff does when the power divider is in both axles have equal power regard less of if one axle is slipping ie crossing a real deep gutter and one axle in the air when you have cross locks no matter what happens all wheels will keep on spinning ideal for sloppy slippery spots I think you are getting some miss information from some people front and rear axles drive all the time weather diff lock is in or out I still cant see how it would drive with a broken spider gear and if it did it would be real noisy and jump as it locks and unlocks as the bits move around I think as I have said pull the center out and have a look or at least drain the oil and pull an axle out maybe go buy a cheap bore scope and have a look and you might be able see bits floating around inside can buy bore scopes for under $100 that way you can start to under stand whats going on or not going on Paul
  10. heres one from Australia for sale at the moment http://www.trucksales.com.au/buy/details.aspx?_N=1550+1552+1602+1601+4294715094&R=15749674 I have no connection to it Paul
  11. If there was no problem before the center bearing let go and there is now common sense would tell me there must be a problem with the new shaft as for the tyres you might have a crook spring hanger and one side is sought of lagging behind the other Paul
  12. what type of back banjo or top mount I would just pull the center out my self and have a look and as I have said if a spider gear was blown I would think you would no about it Paul
  13. same method as me and seems to work ok Paul
  14. I reckon it was proberly based on a DM 800 with a standard cab and DM bonnet and gaurds eitherway its got some sex appeal if you no what I mean Paul
  15. to my way of thinking if a spider gear was blown as in broken it cant drive and sure as heck cant work as in like a diff big question is how can someone tell the spider gear is crook with out pulling the diff center out you sure cant see into the diff from the hub end or at least I cant Paul
  16. Im not sure what you call a slip joint Im guessing its the spline the uni crosses on each end of a section of shaft must be in alingement but on a body truck with multiple shafts they shouldnt at least that is what it said in a old work shop manual I had cant seem to find it had a look once for someone else a while ago but as you come back towards the diff as you go to each seperate shaft it should be on notch lagging behind the previous one I had this problem once the drive shaft people had all sorts of excuses as to what was causing it from engine mounts to faulty gearboxes to diff's but it had worked fine before any work was done on it so it still should work find anyway thats what I found and it worked fine since Paul oh yeah it got two new center bearings from them and thats when the problem started
  17. Well Mick there is only one way to find the answer to the question I better buy one so I can measure it Paul
  18. Nope neither it was white and a road train it red and whit stripes down the cab and bonnet I THINK ??????????? thanks for sharing Mick Paul more dumb questions are these 8 foot wide ie can you drive them down a normal road with out signs ect I think there might have been on at the Gatton transport museum near Brisbane Western Oilfields trucking pure porn either way keep these pictures coming

  22. feet and inchs or metric depending on when you grew up in Australia some can only do metric or some can do imperial or smart buggers like me can do both with out even thinking and you bloody yanks made your gallons tons ect all wrong and then you all start yacking about how many pounds your gross weight is oh my god my brains gonna explode its all to much just when I thought I was smart LOL Paul do you blokes have step tanks over there hey and whats this hauling to Ayr you better drop in for a cuppa Ayr's my home town I'll get princess to bung some scones in the oven and chuck the kettle on I guess if you have no idea what what I'm going on about then maybe theres two Ayrs in the world ?
  23. Well I might pull my self away from sugar cane farming as it heads north go and have a look and see if mrsmack has really aged that much and lever 94 you might be right but the only way we learn anything is by looking what others are doing yeah its not Mack but all things on here arent Mack Paul

  25. the drive shaft has to have phase angles set you might need to check them jump on to google theres plenty of information the one that I dont see is when you have more than on drive shaft in a row the uni's should not be in a straight line as they interfear with each other they should be set lagging behind the front shaft one tooth as you are coming back from the transmission have had this cause problems for me in the past as to the other part of the question the drive shaft not vibrate at all no matter whats speed oh and make sure the big bolt in the gear box yoke is tight this has also caused me grief before Paul
