  1. Tom those Toyotas were pretty common here back in the day, not as common as aIH ACCO or Dodge, but were plentiful enough and survived quite well Paul
  2. I see a Burma Dodge, I have mentioned those before on here How did you get tob Alice Springs ? I would get rid of Mrs Mack (possibly) for one of those Paul
  3. A little warmer here Good to see the old trucks getting a second life Hope the ocean is flat and smooth sailing Paul

  5. What voltage do you get at the ignition switch ? Paul
  6. As similar I guess to a Chev small block but the off set is reversed On a Chev the LHS head is further forward than the RHS to fit steering boxes and clutch and brake pedals in The Holden V8 is opposite as we drive on the other side of the road Holden V8's sound really tough, they sound tougher than a small block Chev but don't go as good as they sound lol They do go pretty hard for a small motor and when hotted up will punch well above their weight Paul
  7. Probably a little late to the party here When doing gearboxes I find the electric deep fryer filled with hydraulic oil to heat bearings and the like the go And the freezer works well I can usually just drop the parts together The deep fryer is nice gentle even heat Okay, back into my box Oh this is really interesting thread, thanks for sharing with us all Paul
  8. So if it isn't making any smoke at all your lacking fuel So the next question is, what controls the amount of fuel When the turbo failed did it dump it's bits and pieces in the exhaust ? What happened to the turbo when it failed ? Even though I most probably be able to help as this pretty modern Diesel is still diesel and they still need air, fuel and compression to work, even if they are swimming in electronic doodahs No smoke tells me no fuel Of it was mechanical I would say fuel filters It sounds like something is telling to not add fuel Paul
  9. Probably take a photo of the motor, those numbers mean nothing to me I'm guessing it's a E7 motor though Paul
  10. No idea on the location but I expect the U.S. somewhere Ask on Facelessbook, probably in a private message will get a better result Paul
  11. They worked fine, Holden even sold a kit to put the 308 V8 in the Bedfords at your own place Can't imagine manufacturers doing that today Leyland sold their smallest trucks with the Australian Leyland V8 International Harvester little trucks had the 345 V8 Dodge COE sold their trucks with the 318 Hemi We were hoons back then, back when fuel was cheap Paul
  12. Can you just clean this up with a couple of die nuts ? Paul
  13. Spotted this on Facelessbook, might be of interest Happy trails "Lovemachine"
  14. Everthing Geoff said, and especially so if it was all working fine a little while ago and no one changed or made any adjustments It could be something really simple and just throwing parts at it may not even get close to fixing it Paul
  15. I dunno why they are this way Geoff, but they are a pain in the ass some times when changing a flat tyre on the side of the road 44,000 lb back ends are normal, course thread each end, 58,000 lb fine in the spoke and course on the cleat Stupid idea I always felt Paul
  16. Your moving right along with this, keep up the good work Paul
  17. Before you go adjusting things, have measured the voltage goimg into the dizzy and after it comes out Were are you measurimg the voltage and what makes you think it's points Paul
  18. Brocky I figure main land Australia is probably not much much different in size than the lower 48 states A lot of retired aged Australians spend years rubber necking and exploring the place I figured when I was going to the U.S. and Canada last year it was gunna be for a few months and even then I don't really feel it would be enough time to do it justice Paul
  19. Joey fireworks are pretty much banned in most places in Australia now Yet no one really cares to much and any excuse for some fireworks legal or not is welcomed by most Paul

  21. Even the woman get a bit wild at time and given half a chance would love to kill us, maybe ?
  22. No mate, that was when we no longer were British subjects, or the change from British subjects to Australian citizens began As British subjects we were pretty much a self governing country from 1901 and did what we wanted As far as I know, the first war we fought under the Australian flag was the Vietnam war Up until then it was the Union Jack But Joey to answer your question, 1824 the continent became known officially as Australia Paul
  23. So in my language theats 3/4 UNF on on end and 3/4 UNC Mack 58,000 lb back ends used these studs in their spiders, or at least they did in Australia Wheel Mounting Studs - Right Hand | K71-345-00 | Dexter Axle Online Store https://search.app/2ZQQnD2s2rABNS4w5 Dunno if these are long enough or not ?? Paul
  24. Joey your correct, we were predominantly from British stock I have half Scottish and half Welsh blood in me, the Princess is mainly English blood My family came out here 200 years ago last yearbaa free settlers, Australia had only been settled 36 years when my ancestors arrived We were British subjects for the best part of the first 200 years of settlement In 1901 we become independent 1948 the Nationality Citizenship act came it been And it took until 1984 for us to be no longer British subjects of any kind A lot of things had to change for that to happen and they slowly did change Paul
