Sadly this is true even over here these days Used to just go to the local hydraulic shop and the hose was made while I stood there Becoming less common today Also the reusable fittings are becoming more of a challenge to buy Had some joker a while ago tell they aren't reusable, they are field service Phewt, no bother what they are called but they are what I want Begrudgingly I was given what I wanted Worlds gone balmy Paul -

Australian R models had different bonnets (hoods) for chassis mounted intercooler And different bonnets for trucks before tip turbine Not overly noticeable but are different Paul -
1941 Mack A40 Magnadyne idle issue

Is the butterfly fully closing on idle If the idle is wound up to high the idle mixture will have no effect The butterfly should be pretty much fully closed at idle to make the idle jet have any effect at all If carb is spotless And the butterfly fully shut As a general rule of thumb, wind the mixture screw fully in and back out 1 1/2 turns as the starting point On just about every motor I have ever worked on, this gets them running good enough to start tuning them I still would be thinking you have a vacuum leak Does it have a power booster for the brakes if it has hydraulic brakes ? The diaphrams on these perish and cause vacuum leaks Pretty hard to be of much help when I'm in Australia and not standing beside the truck But I'll try and help if I can Paul -

If there is no vacuum leak then your idle jet is blocked There really is not much else on a really basic motor to stop it idling Paul -
Fiat Iveco are the biggest diesel engine manufacturers in the world Ford NewHolland farm tractors are owned by Iveco So it would most likely be that a lot of this engineering is in this motor Probably a lot like Mack and Scania once were Same same but totally different From the numbers of trucks built in Europe I would very much doubt it is a dud at all Paul

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak Out with some WD 40 and spray it about the manifold mating surfaces and joins etc and if the engine revs change your getting close to solving the problem Make sure the carby base is flat and square Mums glass chopping board from the kitchen and spray some glue on and stick a sheet of fine-ish sandpaper to it and rub the base of the carby in a figure 8 motion and this will soon show up if it is warpped If it runs fine with the choke part out it won't be spark as spark is working okay Paul -

Last time I saw a new cab or as new cab advertised in Australia was 10 grand, I don't think it ever sold That was maybe 3 o r 4 years ago now 10 grand Australian is about 7 grand U.S. Then take shipping off that and I guess that it would be around 5 grand in the states What people ask and what people get can be vastly different Paul -
is this a Ford built motor or a rebadged motor The figures are pretty impressive, not huge by todays standards but a good performer by the way it reads As much power as a E9 500 Paul
-
Im sure there was minor differences to the blocks thru out the years But as far as I know the main difference in E6 blocks was between Maxidyne and Thermodyne Maxidyne I believe had more webbing cast into the block To make the motor rev harder you need to increase the tension on the fly weights I believe that this is achieved by pulling out the shims that I pointed to in a picture earlier This makes the motor rev harder before the rack starts to close the injector pumps off as the fly weights have more pressure against them so move out at higher revs Paul
-
Okay, simple answer is pull some shims out of here The round doo hickie with 4 bolts thru it This will put more tension on your governor spring so the motor revs harder before the rack starts to close the pump off Pure WAG (wild ass guess) from a dumb ass but I reckon you'll see a result Paul

Glad it's Friday for some, day 15 was Friday and today (Saturday in Australia) is 16 days with out stopping Glad I'm only young, can't imagine what I would feel like if I was bornt last century, I mean I would be old and really stuffed Oh hang on I was and I am 😂 Joey some years ago it was suggested I see a kinesiologist, I was sceptical but I can tell you it made a huge difference I don't feel like Im 21, maybe more like my mid 30's Kinesiology only works on muscles and releasing tension, I squealed like a little bitch, she was only using her thumb but new were and how touch the muscle tendons I was squealing and farting and apologizing for farting all at the same time This having to make a dollar gets in the way of having fun in life Paul -

Im waiting for that to happen, then get the steering wheel put on the correct side Then I'll bust out the cheque book and give one a go Paul -
Do you have a air gauge you can hook to lines to check pressure ? Paul
-
If the brake pedal is going to the floor and your not stopping properly it sounds like your brakes are out of adjustment Now for old school junk like I have the slack adjuster should be set at right angles to the chamber rod Then adjust the brakes up The rod shouldn't moce past 90° on full pressure It sounds like (as others have said) you have jumped a S cam Pull the slack adjusters off and soak in diesel and bung them in vice and put a rattle gun and work them round and then soak a bit longer You will be surprised at just how dry old grease will be Slack adjusters rarely need changing unless the locking part is stripped Hook shop air up and give full allocations and watch and listen Wedge a bit of wood between the seat or steering wheel so you can hold the full application and walk about and listen Some ideas Paul

Cracking read Enjoy the truck Paul -
I think it's a European truck and as such it looks pretty good, not saying that European trucks are ugly but they do have a different style to the U.S. At the end of the day the looks don't matter for 99% of trucks operating in the world, it's the dollars and cents that make it work or not I'm fairly certain these will sell okay and if available in Australia and NewZealand they would sell like hot cakes Paul
