It sure does, this is main reason that most the people I know my age and older are having health issues like blood pressure, cholesterol and type 2 diabetes It is really very sad to see good mates and close family go down this path and not even try to change The local plumber is 71 and rides his push bike to and from work everyday, still takes zero medication I busted my back in couple of spots in 2011 I was stunned how the medical staff were more concerned about my other health issues than my back A good wake up call for me, started running or jogging and 10 km or 6 miles most days and glad I do and am a lot better for it I couldn't any further than maybe 50 yards at the beginning, I was that un fit and the back hurt like all get out Changed my diet, stopped smoking completely and cut the bourbon back What a difference to the way I feel and still no medication, was donating blood last week and they give me a quick medical and everything is surprisingly to staff perfect Now clothes sizes are a different kettle of fish We have Stout Regular Long In pants and shirts XXL slim we dont have, I guess it's for all you lanky yanks Must be something in all that chicken you blokes eat Finger licking good Paul

I have never had or driven a truck with a air dryer I did mention it on here once and all new trucks in Australia have air dryer fitted as standard, which to my way of thinking is a good thing Having said that I now have asked about draining air systems as Swishman suggested and I was surprised at the amount of drivers that never ever drain their air system, didn't even know they could Draining the air tanks is something I have always done, dunno who taught me to now but from before I ever drove a truck I new to drain air tanks, gramdfather or my father no doubt taught me I found when in the more tropical parts of this wide brown land, during the wet season draining the air system is more than a daily occurrence as I see bubbling water at the breakaways (glad hand type connections) when it's really muggy and uncomfortable the air system on a truck feels muggy and uncomfortable as well and requires more attention The amount of crap that comes out of the air tanks, even on the trailer in these conditions is quite stunning, I guess it is in the air and condenses further back thru system when it stops travelling Some really good points there Geoff and I need to lift my game as I never really check most of that unless I notice a issue Thank you Paul

You need to understand how the fuel system works But as a general rule, if you loose prime when its running the the leak is on the supply line If you loose prime when its sitting the leak is on the return to tank side Try putting the fuel system under some slight pressure using your work shop air compressor A piece of rubber inner tube with a tyre valve fitted over the filler cap hole held on with a hose clamp works well Make sure you wind the air pressure down as low as it goes, the vent on the tank should stop to much pressure building Remember every little hose between the in injectors is a place to leak And also remember you wont see any leaks on the return to tank side as they are all under vacuum not pressure so there won't be a wet spot Good luck Paul
  9. Mid 80s at a guess, if searched around on the forum there would be the exact date it was made and could anything upto a couple of years after that before it was fitted to a truck, I guess a lot would depend on what part of the world the motor ended up in Paul

Ones a Maxidyne and the other is a Thermodyne normally Mind you Mack did make a series intercooled 300 Maxidyne that is also tip turbine They only made these in the last year or two of tip turbine Plenty myths and wives tales about these motors and today it's very hard for most people to sort tge grain from the straw when it comes to fact Encase you didn't already know, a Maxidyne has a flat torque curve from say 1100 - 2100 rpm A Thermodyne has a conventional torque curve frome say 1600 - 2100 rpm Maxidyne normally have a 5 or 6 speed box were as a Thermodyne has a 10 or 12 speed Paul

In Australia there's a company that converts normal diesel semi's to electric with battery change over quicker than it takes to fill or have the required log book break So if and when the charging net work and battery change over network are built, electric interstate trucks are a possibility As I have said many times on a Australian truck forum, dollars and cents will be the driver, not our thoughts or feelings Paul

I would also assume that if the motor has to be running when checking the play then the oil pressure in the steering system is also important As in it must be above 1200 psi or something similar Would I be even close in that assumption ? I guess all I'm saying is there's lots to check before making the plan of attack to fix it Paul
  17. Steering wheel play could have nothing to with the steering box, a lot of pivot points could be worn adding to the play Does the hubs stop on the stoppers when on full lock, if so a different steering box isn't gunna help much Paul

With out a photo it's gunna be a challenge for me So maybe the photos are to many pixels, I know this can happen and they wont load up Try emailing the photo to your self as this reduces the pixulation (is that even a word) a fair bit, they are still clear enough for a phone or computer though Paul

Jack up any of the back wheels, any of the corners, block the truck so it cant roll, release the brakes and the wheel you have in the air should be able to be rolled Remembering it is not a power divider on a Mack axle, so it might be a little different than you expect Or if your tyre guy has the knowledge on this then let him sort it Paul
  25. I think it should be fine, to reverse the direction you would have reverse the polarity of either field or the armature If you reverse both I feel you should get the motor to spin the same way Only one way tell, hook it up and find out Paul
