  3. Heck we keep this up we are gunna need a keg Do you blokes put a keg on in the State's ? Paul
  4. You could buy utes .ike Joeys out here but they never sold well, once the Japanese 4x4s came about that was the end of the Yanky type utes for many years In recent times the Yanky type of pick ups have made a come back, Japanese priced them selves into that situation though Paul
  5. I was taught to not play the guessing game, always prove the problem before changing parts Times have changed Paul
  6. Thanks for all the info on the dremel Do wrap a bit of tine around the crank journals a hold them on with a hose clamp incase you slip with tool while cleaning it up Would be a shame to send it back to the machine shop Im sure well over whats going on and Im no expert motor builder, not even a amature one really Lathe is just big enough, it is amazing the way we use tools we possibly never thought we would of Great work and thanks for the up dates Paul
  7. Well my books arrived and I believe we are all slightly wrong here, no offence meant to anyone Well the book once proof read from Miss Molly Tells me that Dynatard motors, engines for the sensitive types have different heads with a recessed exhaust valve So after a quick glance at the book I can see that one thing is obvious that is mentioned but not in a big way is timing It says to just line up TDC off the indicator on the front the motor indicator Now me been me and knowing that this indicator is only a indication would mean that possibly a few degrees off here and the whole shooting match is tits up So thinking a little more about this You can get offset key ways to line car motor timing up when building high performance motors Now thats on precise machined parts, not a bit of tin pointing at a balancer So Im wondering if TDC should be proven first to see just how accurate this indicator is Now a little more If only a Dynatard cam is fitted the motor would be retarded the whole time so it wouldn't run, the book says this as well So with this new found knowledge quite a lot can be learnt Timimg, valve clearance, good hydraulic lifters or hydraulic lash adjusters as the book calls them are important Not the things I was thinking of, good lash adjusters that aren't worn good rocker that don't leak oil out the rocker shafts All of these thing might only make a slight difference but combined might make a huge difference So now to find that elusive time for some experiments I do believe it might be a very plausible thing that some are as good as Jacobs and others are useless like mine Paul
  8. As Brocky says, pretty much the standard affair in Australia is a tray, not many tubs on utes anymore The proper ute, Elcamino and Ranchero I think they are called the states were all the go a in Australia up until say the mid 90's Paul
  9. Was anything changed leading up to this Slack adjusters have different holes for different applications Are they all in the same hole at each back wheel Are the other brakes working properly or at all Measure how much the rod travels out of each can, they should be pretty much the same Are the rods all the same length to ensure all slack adjusters travel the same distance Are the slack adjusters going past 90 degrees If you back the brakes off at the slack adjusters so there is no contact with the drum, then when the park brake is set are the rods at 90 degrees to the slack adjusters, this is important Are all S cams spinning freely and not binding I dont live in a part of the world that uses salt on the road, and even I have to pull S cams out occasionally to properly degrease and clean all the crap out and start again, I can only imagine this would be much worse if you live were salt is used Paul
  10. All nice and shiny now Paul
  11. Done deal Jojo, we can have that beer we have spoken about before Hell lets have more than one beer, throw some bourbon in there is well and make a day of it Paul

  13. Well thats a few days I wont get back, long weekend in thus part of Australia Labour day weekend So moved a bit further along on tarting up Mrs Macks bullbar, doing my best ro polish a turd here Was 3 months and 1 day since I last worked on the bullbar, I have no idea were that time went but it went just the same Princess has been off to the otherside of the state visiting girl friends so Miss Molly and myself have been left unsupervised and Mack parts have crept inside the kitchen So best get them out of the house before she returns Got some trunion caps and air valves and other bits for the Dynatard to see if I can get it to do more than just make noise Paul
  14. BBQ sauce looks interesting, hope I dont have to go to Texas to get Texas pete, and what is liquid smoke ? Perished tyres aren't a problem if you dont look at them, that movie "Worlds Fastest Indian" they just fill the cracks with shoe polish and go and break a land speed record I guess the modern generation are becoming a little precious LOL Well done on the 5k walk or run Paul
  15. Dunno, I think the tin foil hat is about to be put on There is huge supply issues on just about everything these days, from basic hand tools to full size trucks, to new houses I think it is companies dont want to carry stock After all the economy is about stuffed at the moment according to the media yet no one can get workers Back in the late 80's early 90's when the economy went tits up there was no work about anywhere, I went fruit picking, working on cattle stations, scrub pulling and just about anything you could think of, got a job trying to sell insurance and another one answering phones, wasnt any good at either of those Picked a lot of cherrie tomatos and zucchini, watermelons and pumkins, squashand on and on it went There was just nothing about at all Now there's signs up everywhere with companies chasing workers Paul
  16. Gave me a chuckle Steve, who was born without ears, needed to hire a new manager. day he had set up three interviews. The first guy was great. He knew everything he needed and was very interesting. At the interview, Steve asked him, "Do you notice anything different about me?" And the gentleman answered, "Why yes, I couldn't help but notice that you have no ears." Steve did not appreciate his candor and threw him out. The second interview was with a woman, and she was even better than the first guy. But he asked her the same question, "Do you notice anything different about me?" She replied: "Well, you have no ears." Steve again got upset and tossed her out. The third and last interview was the best one of all three. It was with a very young man who was fresh out of college. He was smart, he was handsome, and he seemed to be a better businessman than the first two put together. Steve was anxious, but went ahead and asked the young man the same question: "Do you notice anything different about me?" And to his surprise, the young man answered: "Yes, you wear contact lenses." Steve was shocked, and said, "What an incredibly observant young man. How in the world did you know that?" The young man fell off his chair laughing hysterically and replied, "Well it’s pretty hard to wear glasses with no f..king ears!!!" Paul
