    Dunno about the puff limiter causing issues as I keep everything set stock standard All E6 Mack motors I have driven with low ratio diffs hunt quite a bit in first gear and deep reduction with the foot just on the throttle I dunno why, I have asked and been told it is very common as the governor try's to hold revs and over compensates and then over corrects If I put the foot down a little further it helps and if I shift up a gear ot helps I'm not sure if this is the same issue you have or not even close Paul

    They are known as "Power adjustable variable track" You can adjust them with iut jacking up the tractor Pretty rare in Australia as we dont row crop much Paul

    How high is your idle set ?? If the idle is to low they sort of chase their tail trying to maintain low rpm at a constant I feel idle should be at a guess between 650 and 700, no doubt someone on here quote the correct figure And another thing I have found is if compression is down on a couple of cylinders and a valve job is needed, can make them hunt really bad especially if the the cylinders are following each other Paul

    These I believe were all built in the UK, like IH 'B' is for Britain or British Good little tractors has power adjustable wheels which is handy if you ever do row crop work Almost every part you could want is available so parts are easy as Paul

    There is mob in the states that convert generators to alternators but they look the same as a generator when done They do them for old caterpillar generators so I would think a Mack truck one shouldn't be a issue Maybe sign up to the ACMOC forum and ask there or do some googling Paul

    Just been watching "Hauling the Hume" A good little video if your into 2 stroke screamers or just old buckets of bolts A whole heap of old trucks do a run south on parts of the old Hume Highway in NSW Crawling the Hume is blokes heading north in Vic I may have that wrong, plenty of smarter than me can give you the facts on it The Hume is the main highway between Melbourne and Sydney I have never driven the Hume in a truck as I stay further west, but it looks it could be good fun Paul

    That airfoil kit matches in pretty well And the smarter Mack blokes will know for certain but the taper on tje chassis rail towards the back axles to me is unusual Paul

    Have not heard a bad report ever about a Scania V8 And when I say ever I mean ever, they have a really good reputation You want a million mile plus V8 motor that gives no trouble I think Scania would win hands down Paul

    Wow, thats some serious looking bling you have there Im glad your feeling much better about this machine shop When I must send work out to be done, having that feeling of confidence in the ability of the people doing the job is so important to me Paul

    Sounds like a vacuum leak Get some rubber hose and put one end in your ear and run around the inlet manifold and carby with the motor running Should be able to hear a vacuum leak pretty easy Or get some WD 40 or aero start and with it running carefully squirt some around the joints of the inlet manifold, if the revs change your in the area of the leak Or maybe Im full of crap and completely wrong but these are cheap and simple things to try Paul

    Im gunna have to get a map out to work out were you are Vlad Geography of that part of the world isn't any good in my brain I have read some books of truck drivers crossing from Europe to the middle East and beyond And even 50 years ago the queues were long and bribes were steep for trucks Thanks for the story and photos Paul

    Yes you can get them, Jacobs no longer make them However Pacbrake make new Jacobs style kits for the E6 These as far as I know are the same or similar to the Jacobs brake and definitely not even close to the Dynatard in design Pretty sure no push rodsare involved in the kit Do some googling, they are pretty easy to find Paul

    Thats a red gum, must be at a guess a few hundred years old Very dence and very heavy hardwood, and hard is a under statement Iron bark or box iron bark is even harder and grows even slower Red gum grows were it floods every year or two and box were it floods every 10 years The green movement have just about shut all the saw mills down which makes this a very rare find today Paul
