Something a little different Paul
-
Did you jokers know this May 1943. Newly delivered to the RAAF, Lancaster Q for Queenie was doing promotional flights around Australia for war bonds. Upon arrival over Sydney the pilot dived towards the harbour and, at full speed, beat up along the water right under the Sydney Harbour bridge. It remains the largest aircraft ever to do this and was totally unplanned. Well if you didn't you do now, go and have a beer from your very on fridge Oh hang you lot from over there wont have a clue what I just said Go a get a beer out of your refrigerator 😁 Paul

Yeah I reckon it must of gone right over on it's side while the half was upright It is amazing what can be fixed as good as new if you have the gear and the know how The work ethic and desire to do a good job helps as well Paul

I think most new trucks are built with them these days I reckon the brand of them makes a huge difference They can be really handy in tight spots but can also be very frustrating to get to seal Also need to make sure you dont mix metric and imperial fittings and lines up as they look pretty much the same to my eyes however they aren't forgiving like compression type fittings So my suggestions are Buy good quality brands Buy brass fittings Buy good quality nylon lines that are the exact size your chasing, possibly buy the same brand airline as the air fittings and they should match and seal perfectly And as already suggested by myself, Bendix Westinghouse Good luck Paul
-
If you are replacing these because they have failed I think you have the answer to your question Paul
-
Way out of my depth here on a modern motor so everyone laugh your head off at my stupidity If soot is getting into the fuel I would think combustion is leaking into the fuel If injectors and cups have been done and didn't leak soot in before hand surely that would suggest were the soot is coming from Dunno I'm a bit lost for words after reading all of this again Paul

Im stunned you all shop online with Americas population, truck parts stores should be within 50 miles of most people in the State's In my part of Australia most people try hard to support local businesses Anyway Bendix Westinghouse has been around since the beginning of time and are US based Im pretty sure So I would expect they are fine Depending on what your chasing, I use Ryco a Australian brand I would be surprised if Bendix Westinghouse was crap as I do use them as well and have no dramas Paul

The hardships of a Palestinian truck driver
mrsmackpaul replied to kscarbel2's topic in Odds and Ends
Sadly if only it was as simple as that, I'm sure someone else would soon start fighting over that dry bit of dirt I have never understood it at all The other 41 Chev Paul lived there with his new bride after Vietnam He tried explaining to me once, I never quite got it Paul -

Alex given that part of the world and the past few thousand years of history I doubt any peace of any kind is about to happen over there in my life time Paul -
Landing on my feet may be a huge over statement My ass and my left shin look a tad different now My boy (shouldn't call him a boy, he's a grown man) anyway my boy sends me some photos of the work he does Probably shouldn't really share them on social media but this is Big Mack Truck forum and hopefully not full of wankers When trucks come in looking twisted out of shape he massages them back into shape He has obviously not paid a huge amount of attention to his father as he has it neat and tidy Paul
-
Nah, not quite 9.6, I stuck the landing but the full rotation was incompincomplete Paul
-
My boy sent me some pics of him and his young lady friend out and about I on the other hand took a magnificent swan dive off the house roof on Saturday Had one huge flubbery knee on Sunday morning and lots of minor cuts and bumps Lucky I landed on concrete as it broke my fall Paul

Obviously not a Aussie joke A trucker came into a Truck Stop Cafe' and placed his order. He said I want three flat tires, a pair of headlights and a pair of running boards.' The brand new blonde waitress, not wanting to appear stupid, went to the kitchen and said to the cook, 'This guy out there just ordered three flat tires, a pair of headlights and a pair of running boards..... What does he think this place is an auto parts store?' 'No,' the cook said. 'Three flat tires mean three pancakes; a pair of headlights is two eggs sunny side up; and a pair of running boards... Are 2 slices of crisp bacon! 'Oh... OK!' said the blonde. She thought about it for a moment and then spooned up a bowl of beans and gave it to the customer. The trucker asked, 'What are the beans for, Blondie?' I LOVE THIS ONE......... 'She replied, 'I thought while you were waiting for the flat tires, headlights and running boards, you might as well gas up! Paul

I need a new rear end
mrsmackpaul replied to D2Denny's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Warn overdrives used to be fitted to a lot of big 4x4's back in the day I realize your truck is a lot bigger than a big 4x4 But if you only run about bob tail I reckon your weight might be well within range Not saying it would be simple to adapt but it would be close coupled and maybe only 6 inches to the transmission It won't be simple no matter what you do So doing some googling and from what I can gather you have a Triplex box Google tells me these were in either single over drive or double over drive Which one do you have ? Double overdrive gives a pretty hand overdrive Maybe also be a option, dunno enough about these transmissions and their numbering Paul -

I have been told and ridden some of the B model Macks sold in Australia that had 8V71 from the factory I was told this was the case, they still had the quad box and were special orders for Mayne Nickless If this link works, they had the large aluminium radiator amd still had B 61 badge on the bonnet (hood for you lot) Not my photo but I believe this how they looked new They went okay but ran out of legs at 65 MPH Dunno if it is true about been ordered new like that with the 8V71 or not but that was what I was told by the driver No matter it sounded the goods coming down a big hill on the jakes, certainly echoed around the joint Paul

Can a Detroit really purr ?? Dunno if purring is how I would describe a screamer I wonder at truck stops and the like with condom vending machines in the blokes dunnies if the signs on the machines came from 2 stroke screamers "If she's a moaner it will make her a screamer" "If she's a screamer it will get you arrested" I cant remember what the first level ribbed performance did to her 🤔 Then they had the UD frpm Japan that had 2 strokes made that were loosely based on the Detroit 2 stroke, they were called the "Hiroshima Screamers" in Australia Foden (best of British brand of truck) tried to make a 2 stroke screamer that were never much good for Australia Commer (another British breed) made a 2 stroke horizontally opposed or was it imposed 3 cylinder 6 piston super charged 2 stroke known as Commer Knockers These had a really good reputation and were used on line haul operations in Australia for many years But the GM was the champion and set the bench mark for all others to follow

You'll start growing feathers soon if you keep this up Paul
