  1. If in doubt about shockers, just change them as they are pretty cheap and they do make quite a difference on the front axle Paul
  2. Bugger me, thats to cold for me -6 C is the coldest I have ever been, so thats plus 21f And was to hard on my fingers, the Mack air start freezes up and I just hate it Guess this makes me a bit soft 🥶 Paul
  3. Merry Christmas to all Boxing day here now, Christmas day I woke as crook as a dog, apparently it had something to do with Christmas eve A few berocca's and some cold and flue tablets and I was good to go, after a wee snooze Spent the day eating way to much and floating about in a pool My son came home for the first time in 18months, thank you COVID Anyway it is good to see him and meet his lady friend More food and fun today Stay safe one and all Paul
  4. Yep, you to, I might go wrangly me a crazy pody with its head stuck in a bucket should make for some fun Paul
  5. I was on the radio a few times, wrote a lot of letters etc to state governments and used to have to stand and address this these government peanuts and local governments people's at public meetings Even though they (governments at all levels, federal down to local) agreed it was there issue and they had to clean up the deer population and so on, to actually get them to do anything at all about any of this was whole different story In the end I just refused to pay any taxes as the governments werent doing their job that by their own laws that they created meant they had to They were quick to fine me but still to this day haven't sorted out this deer Anyway I guess thats called "copping the rough end of the pineapple" 😆 Not to worry, life goes on and lessons were learnt Paul
  6. Correct, a few years ago now, a lot of deer in a little area can be a big problem We sold the farm up there and as far as I know the deer are still a big issue and the local government have still done nothing Anyway, not my problem anymore, yeah I know a prick of a attitude but after many years of fighting with the state government and getting the backing of them and the laws changed, then to just run up against the local government that refused to enforce the law It all started with 6 deer been bought there illegally in the 70's They have two pregnancies a year there as conditions are ideal with sugar cane farmers providing year round supplies Paul
  7. Dunno were you get your 303 ammo from No were near that dear here, my main gun is a numbers matching 303, 1915 model I seam to recall, I brought it as a young bloke, $165.00 with it all adjusted up and tight and with a scope on it They ballsed up the scope install and put on top instead of the side so I can't drop clips in thru the top any more. For those that dont know, you dont drop the mag normally to reload the 303, you pull the bolt back and drop the clip holding the ammo from on top The scope should be on the side to allow this When I first bought it I could buy x army ammo for 50 cents a round if I was buying I think 500 at a time I would buy it by 1000 I still have thousands of rounds but switched to hollow points for dropping deer, opens them up like a dinner plate Has a hell of a bark at 2am, it can be heard miles away on still night, would average about 600 dear over a few months after we harvested the sugar cane The 303 is a extremely accurate gun and can out shoot nearly all shooters including me, when I was young I was a lot better shot but just dont get the time to put any rounds thru these days Paul
  8. I often wonder if texting and talking on the phone is bad while driving, then why dont new cars have something to jam the phones signal so they dont work when the motor is running Dont get me wrong, Im not for moment suggesting we should text or use the phone while driving Paul
  9. Agree with all above, a lot of younger people have absolutely no idea at all on how to actually speak to people And a lot of people today dont like been told no No matter, Vic does a bloody good job driving a truck and probably as good if not better than a lot of people half his age If we went by people's capability to actually drive we would probably have to take 20% of people off the road today There is some shockers put there turning a steering wheel these days, young and old and everything in between Paul
  10. Yeah touchy subject as the years slip on by Some young person decided it was wise to suggest that once people get passed a certain age they should be restricted from driving Thats like a red rag to a bull for me, not because Im old but because there's to many bloody rules now getting made by pimple faced kids with no life experience and or appreciation for life and what life is all about I had a rather vigorous discussion with this young know it all suggested he should rethink his attitude before some one decides to re-educate him Anyway now to the purpose of this post While in NewZealand I met a bloke by the name of Vic Hungerford, Vic has been on a Australian truck forum for years Vic has driven for the one company for over 50 years Vic is 82 and still drives when they are short of drivers He sent me this photo this morning and tells me he has spent a week driving this, reckons "it's hard work been retired" So how old is to old ? I reckon if you can do it and you want to do it then all these law making jokers should pull their bloody heads in Well done Vic Paul
  11. Yes they are They are a good motor in Australia as Seed has already mentioned Paul
  12. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do It is a shame it has all got this far before anyone has realized but it is getting the attention it needs now so thats the important thing Paul
  13. Or if your on cement or a nice hard area and have access to one of these They make the job very easy and it is much easier to remove the whole assembly with the tyres still mounted on the hub If you don't have a pallet jack then the greasy b oiard is the go Either way is definitely the easiest wat to achieve these things Paul
  14. Thats looking really good to my untrained eye Really starting look smart now Paul
  15. Only difference is dont hit the cone on the end with a hammer, you'll bruise it and it will then leak oil out the press in plug in the center The bearings should be in oil, or at least I would expexpect them to be in oil Paul
  16. Be blowed, it is fixed and to me that is the main thing I hope you have many trouble free years ahead I am a bit shocked at the price, but I read it was part disassembled at the start All is well that ends well There's a lot in that statement Paul
  17. Usually means compression is getting into the cylinders Head gasket would be the likely cause, maybe the compressor but not likely as it normally needs heat and compression to cause this to happen Paul
  18. Tim and I speak most weeks, he is doing well and living the dream as best as I can make out Yes he is back in the State's, Connecticut or Vermont, not exactly sure were as my geography of that part of the US is a little hazey to say the least He is like the rest of us, very busy with life Paul
  19. Just learn how to drive with out a clutch brake Plenty of trucks from Europe and Asia never have them from new and those drivers survive okay Never tried putting a two piece one in, only the one piece clutch brake I wonder if this had a two piece and it came apart under heavy abuse one day Paul
  20. Looks like a pretty serious undertaking you have going on Paul
  21. As the rest of these jokers said, we need piccies Paul
  22. Sorry this is way to modern for me Having said that I would start at the truck wreckers and have a look what Mack used or did when they put a RoadRanger in Maybe grab the loom and sensors off a truck getting wrecked with the same transmission as you have Paul
  23. And yet here you are, how good is that ? Paul
  24. Yes the ringing doesn't ever stop when it is quiet Surprising how it just sort of snuck up on me Paul
