Once you yank the heads, before trying to turn the motor make sure you clamp the sleeves in properly other wise even when you get this free your gunna enter the world of clusterfuckerie with a masters degree If you accidentally move the sleeves you will turn from adventure to a in frame rebuild quicker than you can say "bugger me" Anyway, it's all good fun and adventure so far Paul

I would be guessing you blokes are right about the rolled O ring That been said the motor was probably rebuilt by a normal bloke like most of us and didn't even realise I doubt commercial truck owner would of rebuilt this for commercial use So we shouldn't be to hard on who ever rebuilt it, I'm thinking it was done with the best of intentions I wonder if the motor sitting for so long got rust in a groove of the twisted O ring and the rust cut thru the O ring with heating and cooling If this had been im continual use I wonder if it would of happened at all ? Silverfrost paint was common to find on head gaskets in Australia maybe 30 years ago or more but havent seen anyone use it for a real long time now I have used copper spray, only if the head is in a really difficult spot like a COE truck without a tilt cab Paul

I was going to go to a truckshow, yes it shocks me as well, so put the truck on the trailer as it is easier for me to wash underneath it Well I washed away and it has rained and rained and rained some more This is all heavy self mulching clay here and adter 1/4 inch of rain you.can move so the truck sits I have done (hopefully) sone improvements to the sir start as it is fed direct off the wet tank and all the dirtest air goes straight from the wet tank thru the valves into the airstart air tank This causes anyoying leaks as crap gets under valves Anyway dont wanna corrupt Vlads thread here to much Oh and another 20 mm (3/4 inch) over night, thats helped no end Note I did shift Mrs Mack since the last photo The bull bar is off as I was gunna polish it up shinier than my head bald head on a hot day, and do some repairs to it as well Sorry Vlad Paul

There's some good reasons to not force the engine to hard mentioned here My thoughts are fairly similar, if the truck is home and you are capable of mechanical work to me it's a no brainer, pull the heads and have a look Because without doing that you have no idea what's stuck, everyone here is assuming pistons, it really could be anything and the chance of causing a major issue is pretty high and could be easily prevented by pulling the heads and having a good look Not only that it gives you the chance to clean 50 years or more of crap off everything and not have it pumped thru the motor Anyway thats just thoughts Paul

No definitely not Drop the tail shaft, put in gear and use a porta on the yoke of the tail shaft to move the motor Pry bar is the go, lots of possom piss as Hayseed suggests Be careful with heat as you might crack the head or stuff the injector People sometimes screw a slide hammer into the top of the injector, but this normally just breaks a really stuck injector Paul

It's come up well Vlad I find most metric fittings and air lines etc work well enough with imperial, just use some thread sealant Yes projects have a habit of blowing out in the time department for me, was going to go to a truck show a few months ago and turned my Mack around and parked her on my low loader to give her a bath Well it hasnt stopped raing since so it is stuck high and dry Paul

Fill the filters and wind it over If it wont prime pull the lift pump apart it mighr be full of gunk It should prime up pretty quick with out anything special If you have the lift pump apart pack it with grease so it sucks right away Paul
