  1. No good at all, hoping it is sorted now, Im thinking the core must of deteriorated in storage, maybe corroded from the inside for some reason Hoping it's the end of those dramas Paul
  2. The whole shows a sorry mess that has been created, for decades now, in Australia at least our governments have been doing everything they can possibly do to undermine small business, whether its Mum and Dad family farms or shops or owner drivers And now we are really feeling the pinch of globalization and all that it involves when large corporate multinationals that dont give a damn about anything except profit margins are running the show and not small businesses that have to live in the community So I guess Im saying in a long winded way, your not in it alone over there Paul
  3. Joey I think you'll find the Ukraine has a huge effect on grain and food price They are one of the worlds largest grain exporters Also there's a oil pipe line from Russia that goes thru there as well which is stopped or at a greatly reduced capacity Gotta also understand that the US is a grain exporter and as such has commitments it is legally required to fill and I dont think the US is in a financial position to reneg on it's commitments The world bank really frowns on this stuff and given the US dept at the moment the US cant afford a hiccup at all And dont worry, most countries have been spending money they dont have for decades, the US isn't alone in this mess Even China is under the pump financially these days We are all paying more for food and oil the world over I guess we should be grateful we can afford more, there's plenty of countries couldn't afford the cost of food before the Ukrainian mess I look at things a bit like this Nearly 100 years ago everyone in my country and yours went thru the great depression and then WW2, all of this just after WW1 If my country men and no doubt yours as well went thru all of that for us then this mess is pretty much nothing in comparison Keep your chin up mate, if this is as bad as it gets we are gunna go okay Paul
  4. Thought maybe they shared a Chevy handle but it doesn't look like it
  5. Probably just a off the shelf latch from a body builders Paul
  6. The shaft would be under the radiator as the crank is bellow the radiator And it's told to "blue tooth" it across, blue tooth wasn't even invented then 🤔 Paul
  7. You will be correct in your observation I reckon
  8. I sure can understand the noise thing, my R model is to loud to hear anything I put dynamat, and dyna liner on the fire wall, it helped but still not great Gunna try new gearstick boots and some underbody lining like Dyna hood liner Its looking great Paul
  9. Dont think long hood Road Boss was ever sold in Australia, well at least not that long Paul
  10. Hmmmm Dunno about the looks but looks don't make money Do they still make these (assemble) these in Australia? Paul
  11. Sounds like the air regulator isnt working, wel. If it was a Mack transmission I would suggest that Dunno about the RoadRanger but think their gunna be similar, sounds like someone has hooked onto the wrong air supply and your getting full air pressure to the switch Rather than correcting their mistake they have tried just changing the regulator Paul
  12. Well a few thoughts here from a bloke that knows SFA I dont think the injector would be blocked, the diesel system is postive displacement, what goes into the injector line feeding the injector must come out So am wondering if that injector is really faulty and just dribbling away or stuck and letting the fuel return straight to the tank Compression test wouldn't hurt and only takes time to perform and the correct compression tool I am a loud mouth that said its nothing more than a fuel leak so perhaps don't listen to a word I say 🤔 I guess report back when you have some more findings I would expect to find around 450 psi when checking the compression and all within 50 psi of each other Maybe pull the suspected dud injector and clamp it on the fuel line upside down and see what the spray or dibble is like, just keep your face and fingers etc away from the firing line, or for that matter all your body parts Paul
  13. Not much to fill in Swishman, all this stuff makes for interesting reading Shame the HCVC forum has had a few photo hiccups aling the way, a lot of good info gets lost Lucky for the rest of world theres fruit loops like me and Swishman that saved some of these photos along the way or a lot of this stuff would be lost Only problem is I saved stuff for years but never kept enough details of whos what when and were, people get it a bit cheesed of if people share their stuff without giving credit Now in my defence I always say who it belongs to or who I think it belongs to and ask to be corrected Apparently (no apparently at all) some cheeky buggers share photos and claim them as there's and this really gets people cheesed off Anyhow the SAR with E9 at 500 draft horses would of been a ball breaker For those that dont know what a SAR Kenworth is It is short for "Short (as in bbc) Australian Right Hand Drive" Still a W 900 on the books but has SAR in it as well Funny how Yanks all wanna sit low to the ground and out here we wanna sit up high so we can see what were about to hit before we hit it Over to you Swishman to educate them more, I have about exhausted my KW knowledge lol Paul
  14. I think the problem is all this QA rubbish and companys trying to get 5 ticks on their logo, they farm everything out so the companies take no responsibility for the product, only for the fitting of the product Do big truck workshops in the US even have a injector pump shop to rebuild things or at least check them, I doubt they do It all went pare shaped when places started having specialists in just on department instead of mechanics that could fix anything Local places to me had sales me and spare parts people that started on the workshop floor, all gone now and it shows Paul
  15. Gotta agree Gone are the days of people that sold spare parts actually knowing what they are selling or most mechanics even knowing how to fix things Most mechanics can only change whole components as in a whole gear box Sadly the skill level of all involved is slowly been eroded away Paul
  16. I know I shouldn't poke fun at the old as Im gunna be there in not much more than a heartbeat but Im not trying to pretending to run a country Paul
  17. Why I was searching for other things I came across this photo from the last time I saw this truck Emerald QLD in 2017 or 2018, thinking very early 2018 Still was looking pretty good then, have passed it a few times over the years, seams to get along pretty good and will get you there a lot quicker than my little 320 Paul
  18. Quite right Adkat As they say a picture is worth a thousand words John McLean photo Jack Ehret Loadmaster! Taken at our truckstop in Gilgandra. This time Jack decided he'd leave the dog behind! I think this trip was to the Gunpowder mine. Sime dribble from me now, this I believe is Fruehauf "Super Hefty" A Super Hefty had chassis rails 450 mm or 18 inch deep, 100 mm x 25 mm or 4 inch x 1 inch top and bottom flange Probably tared around 10 ton, I have a double rail McGrath trailer that is built along the same lines or principles, it tares at around 9.5 ton but isn't as strong as a Super Hefty Fruehauf, I can take the camber out once in a while with big weights on On my Fruehauf Cattle Cruiser I have noticed a extreme amount of camber in the axles Super Hefty's had this as well Fruehauf rated the Super Hefty for 50 ton carrying capacity from the factory and plenty of blokes went past that suggested limit Was some tough old blokes back then and even tougher trucks Paul
  19. Thats a good result, another happy Mack person Paul
  20. I bet this sounds great Paul
  21. Hmmmmm, dunno what Roadranger parts are worth but Mack parts are plenty dear enough, even PAI are just as bad To me just changing the crook parts is always cheaper but to what its worth I have no idea Paul
  22. Am thinking it is time for me to upgrade to these cold cut style saws No more changing blades all the time and most importantly no more sparks setting distant things on fire This is pretty common and requires some fast work with what ever at hand to beat the fire out Also have set myself on fire on the odd occasion lol I have only bought Makita power tools for well over 30 years, are they the best ? Dunno, they are a good brand than gives little to no trouble but they do cost a packet Paul
  23. Sounds like it is glazed up, handful of naphthalene in the intake is reported to solve this problem I have never tried this but have heard plenty of blokes mention such things Paul
  24. Its a lotta coin, but it looks in pretty good nic Would you rather drive that or a modern jigger with add blue def and all the rest of that girly stuff I know which I would prefer Paul
