  1. Well the big event has come and gone I haven't had holiday in I have no idea how long, maybe 15 years or more So a few months ago, about 6 months I was working away and trying to get some shut eye in a feral cabin in a dodgy as all get out caravan park and "stuff it Pauly, you should go" So jumped on Google and booked some airfares to NewZealand and back, with a fortnight gap between them Told the Princess when I got home and just by coincidence the trip coincided with 50 years of Mack celebrations So as the time got near I booked a campervan and waited nervously as huge parts of eastern Australia are in flood, millions of acres at a guess Knocked off work on the 14th of October and pointed the ute south for Melbourne town at around 6.30 We drove thru at a guess 4 km (3 miles) of water from just a few inches to 18 inches deep in spots arriving in Melbourne around 10 Caught the kero kite at 1/4 Twelve Landed in Christchurch at 5.30 am and collected our camper First thing I will say about NewZealand is that photos do not do it justice, it is absolutely stunning scenery that is constantly changing, I never tired of the views, it really is that good, the south island is very different than the north island I could share photos of all sorts of things but been a Mack truck forum I'll just share the photos of the truck show Depending on who I asked there was either 171 Macks or 205 but ot was huge and well done Now before anyone passes judgement on the show size you need to remember that there is only 6 million in the country thats about a 1/3 the size of Texas NewZealand like Australia shouldn't really make it in the world but just like Australia they punch well above their weight and should hold their heads high, what Yanks probably dont know or understand is the ANZAC spirit that shaped our nations Anyway some piccies The first NewZealand Mack rebuilt and looking damn sexy And a better photo, courteous of Trev Jones Trev is fella I have been speaking to for many years over the interweb Trevs hobbie is photography and needles to say thats how we started communicating over Trevs photos And in particular his selfsteer trailer photos So Mack number 1 is a FR with a fiberglass cab, You can thank Peter Ramsey for the use of the scans from the Bulldog Bulletin Anyway on with the show Now there's a good looking rooster all done up in his town hat in front of a truck a mural of a couple of my child hood hero's, Wal Footrot and the "Dog"
  2. Well yes and yes Yes you should have no air coming coming out at all when the trailer supply valve isnt pushed Amd yes the tractor protection valve isnt working Or at least thats what I undersunderstand is happening Paul
  3. Market place on Facebook works in pretty good in Australia
  4. R model with the big aircleaner cans we run in Australia hit the quarter vents (the little glass window that catches the air and angry bees and wasps but keeps the sweat moving off your body) when they are open There are adusjtable stops that clamp onto the hinges to stop this from happening but the doorway is small enough as it is I wonder if these would work on a B model I'll take some photos of you like Paul
  5. Sounds like something is spaced correctly Not knowing anything about these but I gather it drives off a accessory drive Paul
  6. So I see you can still get rock hard Swishman You will have to let these old timers in on your secret Guessing a good dollop of Detroit lube helps immensly at times to get it up and keep it up, hour afte hour Paul
  7. Well good news is he is all okay, just heard back from Vlad He is having computer issues at the moment and also some other issues in his country that I think we cant even to begin to understand Vlad assures me he is all okay which is good news The world is on a knife edge it feels like to me and could easily spin out of control So with that in mind I reckon I can sort of understand that things for Vlad might be very challenging to say the least Anyway the good news is we still have the forum and Vlad can view but not post at the moment Paul
  8. And bearings and seals and a adaptor kit t o make it belt drive But the 671 and 871 blower has been stuck on the top and on the side of a lot of wannabe hot rodders and street racers Oh and plenty of drag cars Not many are from a Detroit Diesel but use the 671 and 871 numbers as they are well known and the specs are loosely based on them The 671 is the most common in Australia for young and not so young blokes and the occasional bird as well Paul
  9. 903 were used in everything and were well regarded as good motors Then the BIG CAM arrived and they fell out of favour pretty quick for some more power and better fuel economy Or at least thats my take on Cummins Paul
  10. Just checking up and hoping all is okay with Vlad and this mad world we are in these days Dunno if anyone else is in contact with him Have just sent him a PM as I haven't seen him on here in quite some time Take care Vlad and hoping all is okay Paul
  11. Thinking there's a lot of confusion here The bigger the brake chamber the slower it responds as more air has to shift for the rod to travel the same distance However the trade off is the increase in diameter means the force is a lot greater Paul
  12. That would be my plan as well I would know any of the mistakes made are my mistakes not some else's And if I put something a bit dodgy back in I know what it is Good luck with it Paul
  13. Yep pull the rest of the liners, I would but I dunno my ass from elbow Lets try and think what has caused this, crook installation of liners ? Maybe some water was in there and froze ? Maybe some cheap ass liners from Chindia or somewhere No matter, if it happened to one liner there's a fair chance the rest could be the same You can have no destructive crack testing done pretty easy and cheap and you'll know for sure Pretty unlucky for this to happen but also pretty lucky to find it this early when everything is clean and easy to undo Paul
  14. Dunno about seeing more when removing guards or guards getting in the way Very occasionally, maybe one or two percent of the jobs I do I remove the guard but it always goes straight back on Check out my youtube channel if you dont believe me, lots and lots of unexciting grinding going on amd all with the guards on Anyway, am wishing you a speedy recovery Paul
  15. I would go even lower (80 - 90) , with out knowing your business I doubt your running a hundred miles to tip the load off As long as the tyres dont kiss when your on a pavedroad moving quick I reckon you'll be fine 110 is what most people that I know run on long distance type of trucks Never known anypne to run 120, most shop compressors dont go that high Paul
  16. Well I'm at a loss, another bloke ruined and never to be the same 🤣 Well done you two, have fun and enjoy life to it's fullest Paul
  17. Have never had this happen, was the guard off the grinder or something like that ? I have noticed on American youtube channels they all have the guards off the angle grinders Anyway your on the mend now and thats the main thing Paul
  18. Dunno what half of this mumbo jumbo is all about I have never had all this drama, 24s on the front, 30s on the rear Always smaller cans on the front than the rear so when your running bobtail and jump on the anchors real quick the back doesnt over take the front But as Swishman sez, watta eye no Paul
  19. "Oh Mr Hart, you've done it again" Sorry mate that wont been bugger all unless your an Australian Pro Hart was a artist in Australia and they had TV adds for him years ago Looks good to me, would provide plenty of enjoyment for all those that can see it https://youtu.be/8qb4n8yc2so Paul
  20. I will second this, I have never had a failure with PAI parts, I can not say the same with sadly I will search for PAI injector lines for a E6 as I just dont have faith in the new Mack ones Paul
  21. From the udder side of the world, I know nothing about these air dryers but experience tells me that whether it is the middle of summer and over 100 in the shade every day or freezing the bahjeebers off I get water out the tanks when I drain them If I'm up in the tropics in the wet I pull the drains and let the water out every time I pull up and theres heaps of water Would these new fangled dryers stop this and give me clean dry air ? These threads are interesting to people from the other side of the world were air dryers werent the norm Paul
  22. I watched a German movie over the last few days made in Yanky land I dont speak German but could still follow along Cool R 700 in it quite a bit, long sleek and black Paul
  23. No, well not in Australia, they were Thermodyne and rated at 320 hp We call them a 320 coolpower Apparently 2 valve or 4 valve although I only know of 2 valves 350 later on with series intercooling and they were the last if the coolpowers 285 Maxidyne was a coolpower, 300 Maxidyne was a series intercooled Maxidyne And these were all E6 motors Paul
