  1. Sounds fine but I would think any oil from the compressor should be getting sucked into the compressor and it would be before the turbo no after it Just wondering what can cause oil to collect in the inlet manifold, if it was a petrol car it would be coming from the rocker cover EGR valve but I have never seen anything like this on one of these motors Makes me wonder if something else is going on for the oil to be there Was any oil in the charge cooler pipes ? Perhaps the oil is from elsewhere, but where Paul
  2. Were did the oil come from on, if it's the inlet side shouldnt it be only air Or is there something else feeding into the inlet were oil can come from ? Paul
  3. Dunno the science about ether addiction, I will say it is with out a doubt in my mind a genuine thing I dunno if it damages stuff insude the motor but at the very least something changes, I thought maybe washes carbon out of the ring and piston gap but if Jo says its causes more damage than that I would believe him To me it is much easier to just fix the problem than it is to muck about spraying crap in there This is also not directed at you Truckie but at the question on ether Paul
  4. As these other blokes have said, you'll have to bung up some pictures before anyone could even hazard a guess on value Paul
  5. Well that rules out the rack been stuck Maybe move things about a bit while the tank is pressurized and see if you can find a leak, shake twist fiddle etc Maybe try cracking the return to tank part of the fuel system at the injector pump, check the flow there Is something is floating about in the tank ? I don't think this will be likely from what you have described This has happened when it is running so I believe that it must be in the supply side of the fuel system Paul
  6. Of all the Macks I see on offer in the US, the Pinnicale is by far the most truck like looking truck that Mack offer in the US Australia has a totally different line up with totally different look on all except the Anthem and even that has been dolled for Australia with the removal of those stupid looking antler mirrors on the front Paul
  7. There's been a few major milestones achieved in recent weeks A huge pat on the back is deserved Well done, sounds great Paul
  8. Those engines and other old buckets of bolts of that vintage built our nation's They helped build the roads that hauled or livestock and farm goods to feed the world They helped build our huge irrigation projects, our power stations, our cities I just find treating this gear that gave us much like this wrong, love em or hate em, the truth they did the work when many other brands couldn't Paul
  9. Gave me a chuckle, might already be on here, still good for a chuckle Happy days Paul
  10. Sounds like the brakes might need adjusting, as long as when the pedal fully returns the master cylinder can fully return I think it should be okay Also might have some air in the system that now has more force from the new booster to push it and that might be the reason for the extra pedal Paul
  11. These little jobs seem to take for ever, or at least thats what I find Just keep crossing them off the list and you'll look back and be amazed at what you've achieved Paul
  12. Looking really neat and shiney, some decent size pipes you have going on there, thinking they might sound pretty good Paul
  13. This if a fantastic thread you have going here, thank you for sharing with us all Paul
  14. I must be a bit strange, even stuff I dont like I wont needlessly wreck things Guess that makes me boring Paul
  15. 138, would of seen a lot of changes in that 138 years Remember when my Great Grandmother passed, must of 88 or 89 She hit 90 years of age, we had a l party and 2 days later she popped her clogs She lived at home on here own, wood heater, us kids / young men would split and stack wood at the house for her Sge drove well into her 80's, the government claimed she needed to sit a test again, she wasn't impressed, told them to stick it When she passed I remember thinking, cars werent even invented, the light bulb wasnt around, radio wasn't even thought of, let alone people flying Then a couple of jokers went for a joy ride to the moon The changes she saw I cant even begin to imagine And the snow flakes of today piss and moan about everything Dunno I'm getting old I guess Paul
  16. Looking like it belongs, looks right at home
  17. You can buy normal old fashioned type of pyros that need anything except the exhaust with a bung for the sender Maybe just get one and have a look, might of little help but might help find some answers or cancle out some ideas Paul
  18. Does your truck have a pyro meter ? I haven't ever had a turbo fail so I can't be much help I wonder if it is getting to hot in the exhaust causing the turbo to seize ? As I understand things, if the intake is restricted the exhaust gas temp will increase, boost will be lower and smoke will be plentiful On older coolpowered Macks 20 psi is the max boost, I understand that it isnt that uncommon for modern trucks to make 40 regularly As much as it pain me to say this, and it really does pain me to say this, 2008 isnt modern, phew I cant believe 2008 isnt modern Anyway what sort of maxmium boost would be expected from this motor ? Paul
  19. Looking like the classy ride it always wanted to be 😂😂😂😂😂 The ute/ pick up is looking good as well Paul
  20. I have often wondered why IH didn't put their Neuss diesel in these, particularly in Australia as the Neuss had and still has a pretty good name Would of been a good fit and around the same power as the 345 Not many Scouts left out here now and those that are about are worth good money these days Looks like a lotta fun was had in your Scouts Paul
  21. I have seen amazingly bad spark plug leads on farm tractors, a bit of bare fencing wire made up a few inches on one lead, didnt miss or ark across Thinking the voltages are a lot lower on older gear I think these will need to be replaced with solid core leads or it wont work right but probably wrong there Paul
  22. That's a good result So the next things I have learnt that effect boost are a squashed exhaust or a restricted air intake I know when I re-bearinged my tip turbine it added a couple pounds of boost Little bits help Maybe check if a intake rubber connection is collapsing in or gone real soft Paul
  23. I guess it depends on what you are wanting the tray for Most working trucks want as much tray as is available But if you are planning using it as a run about fun machine then I would think something fairly short so its easy to park Paul
  24. And even more so when I consider the size of the loads it would of hauled most of its life Paul
  25. That makes no sense at all Paul yah clown What I think I was trying to say was If you got plenty of blow by then your gunna struggle to make big boost Anyway, enough from me Paul
