From Facebook, not my words or video, I have seen this truck a few times in recent years and it is still working hard Happy birthday "Old Warrior" Lisa Weller My dads R700 Mack has just had its 50th birthday, so a friend of ours made up a short video montage for him. Let me know your thoughts!! #R700 #macktrucks Paul

I would think if it had blow by your gunna start to start to make boost but I really dont know about Paul
-
Apparently today is a big day for you lot over there in Yanky land Hoping you all have a cracker of a day doing what ever it is you do Paul
-
A lot will depend on how much load and what revs your at I would expect maximum boost at the cross over between maximum HP and maximum torque under full load with a big long hard pull Paul
-
Same questions I always ask When the boost stops increasing are you making smoke If your making smoke you probably have a air leak or something not working right in the intake If you are not making smoke a lack of fuel is the problem Paul

R Model Door Emblems
mrsmackpaul replied to Mr. Buck's topic in Exterior, Cab, Accessories and Detailing
So true Mr Buck, this bulldog business these days has more to do with pleasing keyboard warriors, as does the mud flaps and the way dogs face, oh and the dogs on the mirrors End of the day most of the clowns making a big deal about this rubbish have probably never owned or driven a Mack We dont buy a Mack because of the colour of the dog, the way dogs face on the mirror or mud flaps, we buy them because they are tough, reliable and get the job done, oh and because they are the best trucks ever built Paul -
Time to skip all the guess work, you have a fuel leak, nothing more complex than that So as I have said many times, get some old inner tube, a couple of big flat washers, a air fitting to match the compressor in your shop, a fitting to screw onto the air line fitting, and a hose clamp big enough to fit over the filler cap Cut the inner tube big enough to cover the filler and go down the sides a bit Put a hole in the middle of the inner tube, air-washer-inner tube-washer and another fitting to clamp all of these together Then pop the inner tube over the filler neck, and some air pressure, not a lot, wind the regulator down as low as it goes on the shop compressor Then search for the wet spot, by the sounds of it, it's gunna be easy to find Hope thisis of some help This isnt a lift pump or filter or anything else, this is a bad fuel leak Paul

I reckon they are both pretty bullet proof Paul

Did you coat the inside of the tank to stop any oil seeping thru, I find these tanks are always wet and dusty unless this done I have never done it myself, tanks I have that are coated are always nice and clean and those that arent are always dirty Paul -
All of these motots you mention are E6 motors 285 is a coolpowered Maxidyne 2 valve 300 is a Maxidyne none coolpowered with the intercooler In front of the radiator and was a 4 valve 350 is a Thermodyne none coolpowered with the intercooler in front of the radiator and was a 4 valve 300 can also be a Thermodyne coolpowered motor that is a 2 valve or maybe a 4 valve depending on the era Can also have a 350 coolpower that is series cooled with 2 valveheads There is quite a long list of options, I have only scratched the surface here The coolpowered motor was a game changer in the industry for many years and really set Mack up as the leaders for a long time It is important to understand the differences when shopping for a truck as the sales man will always quote the higher value on power when selling a secong hand truck Even if you have a really good understanding I doubt anyone can tell what the pump is set to by looking Paul
-
Thought you blokes might understand this better than me Paul

Air leaking out of bottom of this thing?
mrsmackpaul replied to The Nitro's topic in Air Systems and Brakes
That isnt correct, they should not be set like this as once any wear is apparent they will be past 90 degrees -

Well my 20 cents worth of useless advice Dont be to hard on old ,ate flogged the truck to you, any truck over about 10 years of age wont be original and will be changed quite a lot to suit what you want So keeping this in mind I would start collecting bits and pieces to make it into what I want it to be Keep using it until it goes KAPUT then start chucking your stuff into make it what you want Also some advice from a fellow truck driver at Springsure in QLD Australia one day, was about to head off in my 320 hp Mack pulling a road train, up around a 100 ton (220,000 pound) heading south to Roma and have to climb Carnarvon Gorge, now this is really really steep and has bought plenty of trucks undone, it has "caution trucks must use low gear" signs for climbing the hill, only place I have ever seen this for climbing a hill Anyway this truck driver says to "dont worry lad, plenty of blokes have climbed that with a lot less power pulling more weight than you have" Moral to the story is you have plenty of power for anything you will ever want and unless your running coast to coast that extra power isnt gunna make much difference to your day, slow and steady and enjoy the view Paul Top photo was a late model KW that electronics had gone KAPUT on Carnarvon Gorge and couldn't lift off (wheel spininning on dry hard bitumen) Bottom photo is after I over took him stopped there, had to split up his road train and pull a trailer up at a time Guessing he was a 600 hp monster, horse power only gets you so far
-
Yeah it has changed on here in recent times but that is the one constant Paul
-
Well I hope you had a CRACKER OF A DAY, dunno much about the navy, even less about the US navy I wouldnt be much chop in the navy, vomit and more vomit lol Paul
-
I used to crop photos once but I noticed that while looking at photos from many many years ago that the most interesting part wasnt the subject of the photo originally but rather something in the background I also got into the habit of just getting every photo printed as I worry that years to come some photos will get lost because they are stored on technology that is out of date A bit like if I was to have stuff stored on a computer floppy disk from say the 90's I would have no idea about getting access to it today Remember those big laser discs before DVD's that were around 12 inches diameter, could we even watch one today Or DVD's in 10 years time ? Aussie R 800
mrsmackpaul replied to mrsmackpaul's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
They are some good looking bulldogs there, I would have absolutely no use at all for a R 800 but I would love one I have seen two come up for sale but are gone in a heart beat, they only made 26 so the chances are slim of me ever getting one Paul -
Looks like a great event, also looks like Im gunna have to take up golf by those golf karts ☺️ International Scouts always looked good to me but were big sellers in Australia, dont think were big sellers in the State's either There's a way I was taught to reduce the size of imgages all at once and 100s upon 100s can be done in one go Have a look if your interested, I still had to get a hand the first go or to but once I new how it really is as simple as Paul
