Dunno if you have them over in the states but we have V8 trucks at some Speedways in Australia Good for a chuckle, the lads seem to get them moving along okay Paul

These days I dont do as much farming as I once did, mainly cereal hay but there is little money in that at the moment as the last two years have been exceptional in eastern half of Australia China has been fairly sticking the boots into Australia of late, our politicians have no spine so if your a Mum and Dad type of business in Australia (you know the back bone of the nation) you get hung out to dry As far as machinery goes, probably the same as the States, Case IH, John Deere and the odd bit of Blue New Holland, plus the normal others Deutz, MF, Kabuto and lots of othe minor brands, I still use International Harvester and the good old Australian Chamberlain for farm work Australia uses pretty much the same style of gear as the States for farming but the good gear, as in the strongest gear toughest gear comes from Europe not the US, sorry but it's true My tillage gear is Australian, rough and tough and still going strong Our margins are probably a lot tighter than the States and farming has zero government help as the loosers in Canberra believe in some B.S. called a level playing feild, its a real shame no other country believes in it like Australian governments do The good news is we will all be owned by China soon so that we will no longer have any problems except we will have to learn manerdin (think thats theroper name for Chinese) However we had a federal election a week ago and the main political parties got the lowest votes ever in Australian history which left those clowns in complete shock, over 30% of Australia didn't vote for a major party (voting is compulsory for Australian citizens of voting age) A bit like maybe the US, people are so pissed off they are voting not for who they want but who they dont want, let me try and explain that just a bit, when Trump got in I dont think the majority of voters wanted him, they didn't want that phsyco bitch, whether he was any good or not Im not gunna comment on but he scared the bahjeabbers out of the politicians in the US and they stopped at nothing to out him Struth I have taken this right off topic, sorry everyone Off to the naughty corner now Paul

Fertilizer is dear the world over, highest I had ever paid was I think 2011 $800 a ton Urea, made no money farming that year $1300 ton and climbing this year Commodity prices are good but the inputs are climbing quicker Anyways, that business and joy of been in business Paul

So with these transmissions whats the correct driving technique? 12 speed I can drive with or without a clutch, same with a 5 or 6 speed but have never driven one of these later Mack transmissions Mack put their 18 speed behind Cummins redheads that were 575 hp and used road train work and from the people I have spoken to that own them they are fine for the million kilometers or more grossing over 100 ton day in day out so they cant be all bad Paul

Just had a quick google, they are on ebay fully reco for 4975.00 Australian so dunno 3 grand in Yanky dollars maybe and its in Yanky land so that to me is good buying Struth spent that on a new input shaft and new high low gears and and sliding dog 15 years ago for a 12 speed

Well I dunno much about much. Some quick searching on this site found some ratio charts 12 speed Mack is the multi speed built by Mack for Mack Thermodyne motors So it is the true multi speed standard torque curve motor for Mack trucks Your 9 speed isnt that much different so I'm not sure your gunna achieve a lot by swapping transmissions to a RoadRanger Thinking driving style might achive a lot more, dont let it lug as much and drive it in the rev range that it is designed to be driven in maybe Bare in mind I have no idea what your motor is The weight your shifting has little effect on the way it should be shifted, the transmission should always be shifted thru gears at the desgined rev's As you can see the ratios are pretty similar Paul
