  1. She'sa short wheel base, would of been a interesting riding truck bob tail Paul
  2. A lot of people put inline plastic fuel filters on a short bit of hose on breathers in the tropical parts of Australia to help prevent this Then cut most of the plastic outside off the filters to creat real big areas so the little buggers have trouble filling the holes up Seams to help but some of the mud wasps are very dedicated to the cause of been a pain in the neck Paul
  3. Thats a fantastic job your doing Paul
  4. Vlad is right about getting custom pistons made This is what I would do, get it resleeved and custom pistons made Then get the whole shooting matched balanced and assembled as a short block It's gunna cost a bit but it will out last all of us and well worth it in the end Paul
  5. Bonus Shots 📸 The whole combo is very impressive but take a closer look at Aussie’s Mack Truck mural, it tells a bit of a story… The yellow truck on there is the first Mack Truck Aussie’s grandfather bought brand new in 1978 for their 3 generational family business. As you can see the Mack Bulldog is giving the one finger salute to the Volvo Viking. For all Mack enthusiasts I think you know why … also note the shirt Mack Bulldog is wearing, a nod to Joe Bradley Fibreglass, this being the last Titan to come out of production with a Joe Bradley Sleeper cab. #thdrakegroup #draketrailers #lowloaders #aussiemade #ausiemanufaturing Corbets Group
  6. It sure is a impressive grill on the front Paul
  7. Well there's definitely gunna be a different note there now Paul
  8. 300 is a Maxidyne so it was built to run like that so it should be, 100,000 pounds isnt a lot of weight and plenty of people pulled far bigger weights with a lot less powerbnot that many years ago Paul
  9. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse Paul
  10. Well have just read thru this and this is what I understand from what I have read Noise is believed to be coming from the back of the engine or front of the transmission Only happens in gear with a light load If it was mine I think it would be time pull the transmission back if its a concern But I would check the endplay on the crank first to make sure it isn't floating to much and allowing something to just touch somewhere It has gotta be something pretty simple going on The transmission shafts have a fair bit of float forwards and back as I feel the crank Joey will probably have the specs at hand for the crank float and the transmission, well it will be what it will be, they are a pretty agricultural transmission but tough as nails Paul
  11. Looks to good to putting anything on it Paul
  12. I'm really of little to know help here, however experience has shown me that what ever tool I think I'm gunna need I will actually need the other most of the time Dollars only stretch so far and every time I'm promised work it ends amounting to nothing or a head ache and even if something does result from the promised work I have debt I can never repay So for me the best results are achieved by finding my own way Anyway enough doom and gloom from me and best of luck Paul
  13. There's no easy way to do this but if you feel its bad enough then you need to split the rails completely, sand blast and reassemble Not a huge cost but a lot of work I wouldn't cut the chassis rail unless that was the only way From what I know, which is two tenths of stuff all, most rails spring back into shape after this is done Paul
  14. I love it, this is a very impressive build Paul
  15. You all have come a long way in the last few months, well done It sounds very quiet inside, even with no doors, quieter than my truck with doors Great stuff and thanks for sharing Paul
  16. Welcome to the forum Sounds like you have been well exposed to Macks for many decades now Good luck finding what you are chasing Paul
  17. Thanks very much, Mrs Mack was slowly going backwards so I collected parts for a fare few years and slowly put money away towards the future job at hand Anyway push came to shove so I just got out the grinder and started cutting off more than I thought I could chew and just kept on chewing LOL Paul
  18. Permatex and Loctite products are getting harder to get locally as they are getting replaced by cheap crap that looks almost the same but definitely isnt Think it comes from China or somewhere even cheaper if thats possible The good old gasket good, I aviation sealant from Permatex is the proper name and the purple Loctite flange sealant that neved really sets hard are my favorites Permatex copper head gasket spray has had a good result for me Old blokes used silverfrost paint for head gaskets years ago Paul
  19. Thats an amazing job youve done there Paul
  20. Was a good looking truck in its day and still is today Paul
  21. One thng I have never done is check anything inside when fixing the leaking O ring So I guess that makes it about 5 things I've never done lol Anyway I reckon check the breather, dunno if you have remote breathers on the fire wall as a lot of Macks out here do Pull them apart and wash the gauze and filter material out in petrol (gas) and blow the line out to the diffs Most times when things like that start leaking the breather is blocked, at least thats my experience We have mud wasps out here amd them buggers block things up in a hour or so given half a chance Paul
  22. Aint that the truth, I jave always felt I'm better to wait and save for longer than get something I dont want and regret it for ever Paul
  23. Bugger me, thats a interesting exercise Paul
