  1. I used to crop photos once but I noticed that while looking at photos from many many years ago that the most interesting part wasnt the subject of the photo originally but rather something in the background I also got into the habit of just getting every photo printed as I worry that years to come some photos will get lost because they are stored on technology that is out of date A bit like if I was to have stuff stored on a computer floppy disk from say the 90's I would have no idea about getting access to it today Remember those big laser discs before DVD's that were around 12 inches diameter, could we even watch one today Or DVD's in 10 years time ? Paul
  2. They are some good looking bulldogs there, I would have absolutely no use at all for a R 800 but I would love one I have seen two come up for sale but are gone in a heart beat, they only made 26 so the chances are slim of me ever getting one Paul
  3. Looks like a great event, also looks like Im gunna have to take up golf by those golf karts ☺️ International Scouts always looked good to me but were big sellers in Australia, dont think were big sellers in the State's either There's a way I was taught to reduce the size of imgages all at once and 100s upon 100s can be done in one go Have a look if your interested, I still had to get a hand the first go or to but once I new how it really is as simple as Paul
  4. No matter what the motor you need to keep a eye on the pyrometer when climbing a hill 237 has balls bigger than you can jump over But honestly if it needs this much changing to suit you are probably better buying another truck Paul
  5. From New Zealand From I believe Patrick Mark Mahoney photo Maroa Logging NZ Forest Products Kinleith Tokoroa (1978-1980) Kenworth 848 Off Highway very similar at the time of the Canadian Pacific trucks at Kinleith and Kaingaroa Can see a R 800 behind the Kenworth Interesting to me at least, these were stamped DM on the chassis rail, I am thinking they used a DM rails to build the R 800 Australian and New Zealand Macks are very much custom built and almost all used a R model chassis except the R 800 This applied COE and conventional cabs well into the 2000's Paul
  6. Well it's been a little while since I have added anything much here Some more information has come to hand thanks to the Australian Bulldog Bulletin magazine I have some bits and pieces of different issues that mention the R 800 These were shared on a Australian truck forum known as the HCVC forum Anyway with permission from Pete Ramsey the person that posted there I will share it here Thank you Pete, he has a pretty impressive collection of photos and magazines etc of Australian trucking history, if you blokes get a chance do a Google search for Overlanders photos etc on the HCVC forum, well worth a look and will take a day or so to view them Anyway to the R 800 Once again a big thankyou to Pete for allowing me to share some of his collection I hope you blokes get some enjoyment out of looking at these old buckets of bolts,I know I do Paul
  7. Crazy old world we are all living in these days Vlad Anyway as long as we get some pictures of stuff we are missing out on it will all be good I have the Princess and I a ticket to the big party in NewZealand in October for 50 years of Mack over there 🍸🍻 Was gunna take Mrs Mack over for the show but bugger me the cost is kinda huge Paul

  10. Now that would be a silly spot for a trailer plug Im thinking it is to drive a gravel spreader out the back You know t he type were they spray the bitumen down and then back a tipper up with gravel slowly trickling out Paul
  11. Well I hope you have better luck than me, nearly 12 months ago some joker high as kite and pissed as knit decided it would be a great idea to try and have a head on collision with me, still waiting for the ute to be repaired properly, panel shop has only had it since July 2021 Paul

  16. Sounds like the switch is crook, maybe just dirty and gumbed up inside Maybe try it a fare few times and it might clear Most switches can be pulled apart and cleaned but are fairly fiddly in my experience Paul
  17. Struth I'm running late Hope you had a great day Paul
  18. Anymore news on the trucks ?history Paul
  19. Well I have looked at the transmission on google and it appears to be a 4 speed 3 range transmission So I'm thinking one of the range change gears has a crook bearing or gear, and the guess would be the mid range gears But remember I have never driven or even looked at one of these, just using common sense from what I can see and glean from the limited information we have at hand I dont see how injectors or even the clutch could only affect these gears Clutch would be in lower gears and the clutch would be slipping on a normal transmission Paul
  20. Whats the green tyre and bow for on the grill ? If I had my pick I would be frowned upon on this forum as I reckon the Pete would follow me home Paul
  21. Peachs and cream looks pretty good to me, no good about the bung diff though Paul
  22. I have asked this question before, and pretty much as Vald said and I think there's also better traction on off road conditions, or maybe a better ride There was a fairly famous Superliner in Australia than ran Adelaide to Darwin for many many years that had this wide spread camel back, it was doing road train work and there was a 1000 km of dirt each way, I reckon it did this for at least 20 years, 1 week each way Spread might not of been as wide as the Canadian type but was wider than a normal 44 ass end used in Australia Paul
  23. Struth, surely not, gotta be a mistake But in todays crazey world ?????
  24. Would that be the original tub on the back ? Paul
