  1. Welcome Dale Sorry I have never heard of this, maybe the Lanova diesels had something different in the valves I have heard plenty of stories were old blokes say they could count the revs they were reving that low, something I know nothing about Paul
  2. Thats fantastic stuff you have going on there, always feels good to start putting things back together I reckon Paul
  3. Sorry mate, you and I are clearly worlds apart, anyway thats me, just a tad different than the normal these days Stick it on a truck if thats your cup of tea, I'm not judging I just wanna have something more to think about when I'm all buggered up in a nursing home than all the adventure I wish I had of done Paul
  4. Shipping, what the fudge, get in it, chuck a bed roll or over night bag in and drive home Bugger me you blokes need to have some adventure, shipping, phew Not on your nelly It is a great looking truck for that type of coin Paul
  5. What a difference a coat of paint makes, maybe get pin striped and scrolled and sign written like your old truck, it's almost there with it been the "Red Rocket" and all Mexican food I no nothing about and dont think I have ever seen a Mexican restaurant in Australia, though I have eaten Taco's and Tortillas, mind they are probably an Australian version and apparently our taste buds are pretty boring compared to those of the U.S. and our food is pretty bland Anyway trucks looking good, you went all out with your Christmas decorations Arthritis I dont have but the skin is getting thinner and lumps all over it from been in the sun all my life I think Todays useless triva, yes I am full of it In Australia Queenslanders call people from New South Wales Mexicans because they are from south of the border Queenslanders call Victorians Cock Roaches because apparently the only lower than a Mexican is, I let you fill in the blanks lol, and yes it isnt serious and we are all full of cheek out here Stunned by the F truck transformation Paul
  6. All good, thats what these forums are all about, learning things from like minded people I guess they run warmer to maybe run cleaner and burn fuel more efficient Paul
  7. That's the go, got your dream machine, should be lots of fun to be had with it Paul
  8. Yep, run a muck while your still all young enough to Have a great 22 Paul
  9. That's still getting warm, I have never seen my old Mack get over 140, I had to convert that 60C even in 100 plus weather pulling a road train Might have to rod the radiator core when you get a chance Paul
  10. Swishman apparently it's false as we are reliant on coal and renewable energy isnt gunna work, but what would I know Paul
  11. Im pretty sure thats whats happened Have seen similar things a few times in recent years (not quite on this scale though) never took any photos as I was busy looking after the people involved Each time one of the drivers had fallen asleep with cruise control on and drifted into the on coming traffic The person they hit could do nothing as you can only get a big truck so far off the road and out of the way Paul
  12. https://fb.watch/adfFbhhim4/ A picture is worth a thousand words they say, guessing video is worth a bucket load more Dont think you need Facebook to view Paul
  13. Sand blast and paint, it's in pretty neat condition from what I can see It's air ride so your not gunna achieve a huge amount of improvement no matter what you do Paul
  14. Do you have a link or something, I dunno what to look for for what page
  15. Are you sure that it is assembled correctly, I have never seen a drum brake were even if the lining is missing the steel part of the shoe still reaches out and grabs the drum fine Actually that isnt correct, I have seen miss matched drums, shoes, s cams and rollers on s cams that under heavy brake application can go past the high point on the s cam It sounds like it isnt put back together correctly, or maybe it never was put together correctly when you got the truck, I have no idea on the history of this so cant offer any more advice than that Maybe check part numbers if you have access to a parts book and confirm all parts are correct Paul
  16. Building the suspens, it's working, almost on the edge of my seat, nah not really, it's gunna be great build I'm sure, we are all just a little busy this time of year so maybe taking a while to get back to us Paul
  17. I have thought about how to try and respond, to educate, to try and explain how the Australian energy market and energy production actually works and is applied in Australia, after all I can not comment with any degree of accuracy on the American energy market or it's production as Im not at all involved in American electricity production I never realized that finding a government web site made you a expert on that countries electricity production, learning things every day And this is the very reason I dont go into this with people who just want to have a knock down drag out fight to prove a point, it makes little difference to me whether you believe me or not, whether you want to learn or not, my life ticks along exactly the same whether I choose to become involved or not in this type of discussion (even this comment you could start a argument about if you wanted) My personal opinion has little weight if any in the grand scheme of things as does yours and as such the reward for me is very little, unlike talking about Mack trucks, that has a huge impact on my happiness, even old machinery and old stuff in general So I'll leave the worlds energy production problems to you, make sure you take care of us down under as I want that light to come on when I flick the switch and the compressor to start when Mrs Mack needs her air start tank filling Have great day Paul
  18. Bugger, thats kinda sad how things have become in the U.S. with security Hopefully it sorts itself out soon and life gets back to what I would call normal, mind you I have no idea what normal U.S.A. is as I have never been there but I would expect it to be a lot like nornal Australia Paul
  19. I guess your making the assumption that a lot if not all of the work you suggesting hasnt been looked into and the answers haven't been worked thru and answers given The end of the day dollars and cents will dictate the end result, not climate change, greens and the leftards kicking and stamping their feet with a temper tanty or people that love to burn fossil fuels and deny climate change even exists Money talks and bullshit walks, dollars and cents will drive the change in our enrgy usage, it really is that simple in free markets of the western world I guess you need to consider that Australia is probably more dependent on fossil fuels than most other countries including the U.S., fossil fuels are one of our biggest exports and with out that we would go broke over night, BUT DOLLARS AND CENTS WILL DICTATE WHAT HAPPENS And I can tell you from what I know fossil fuel burning for power generation is on the way out at break neck speed Already Australia produces nearly 50% of our power from renewables Dollars and cents not emotion drives this and coal cant compete, not even close on dollars and cents and reliability Paul
  20. How cool is that, dunno that flash tubeless tyres will help with the ride lol Neat old truck, mouse house and all Paul
  21. Headed off for a wee drive, just me been a clown before hitting the road Paul
  22. Yep, as Alex and the dealer said 80/90 for the diffs, thicker oil maybe if its really hot and hauling really heavy weights for long periods and really heavy I mean over 200,000 lbs and in 100 degree heat for 12 hours straight, but I doubt it this is your situation Paul
  23. Inline 6 are perfectly balanced were as a V8 is always out of balance Inline 6 has more bearings to support the crank V8 is or was a smaller physically size to fit into tighter spots than a inline 6 for the same power to weight Macks E9 was not as reliable in the heads as their E6, why this was the case I have no idea, perhaps it was pushed into production However if compared to other brands of motors at the time the E9 was comparable to most and better than some The trouble was other brands soon developed just as much HP and sorted out their reliability issues to the extent the E9 fell out of favor The E7 came along and by and large was a better motor and made good power for most applications The E9 was eventually sorted but it took a long time to make it the motor it should of always been Thats my take on it anyway Paul
  24. No Joey, Iveco is Italian and Renault is French, I think the French government owned them for many years Iveco is the world's largest producer of diesel engines, I believe they are also the largest producer of heavy diesel engines Iveco owns or owns a large portion of Case a and Case IH farm equipment, they are huge Fiat, Unic, Iveco and no doubtba whole heap of other things are all owned by the same mob Paul
  25. BIG AL, welcome aboard Images might be to many pixels and need to be reduced in size I haven't been able to load pictures to the forum for some years I use Postimage and put a link up, took me a while to get the hang of this but it flows fairly smooth now So it sounds like you might have s French derived Mack, some things are quicker to find putting Renault instead of Mack when Googling about if it is a French jobby Paul
