  1. Well at least thats what this bloke Des reckons, kinda gotta agree with him Paul
  2. Dunno if thats such a big deal, I would be just thankful you could get them, hopefully they are made local but if not and even if its a bit flimsy its a heck of a lot better than a gaping hole surrounded by rust Paul
  3. Are you sure your speed is different, as in have you had someone following you down the road or used a GPS The reason I ask is no matter which overdrive Maxitorque Mack made I dont think you will get the speed increase your saying I wonder if the gears that drive the speedo are different as the diff ratios might well be different in the truck you got the gearbox from compared to yours Did you change the speedo gears when you changed the transmission ? Paul
  4. No backing plates on the brakes, not a big drama as most people chuck them out Looks really impressive Paul
  5. Assuming its a air ride cab, you can stick a jack and piece if wood etc under the back of the cab and lift it right up to full travel and you may get another couple of inches to work in to access the air lines Paul
  6. My 20 cents worth if I may If you dont have a pocket full of coin then just cut out the rust and weld bits snd pieces in here and there Try to do only a patch or two and make the patches a lot bigger the hole your trying to cover Do not over lap stuff to weld it, it might be easier but it will only trap moisture and rust out quicker than before Butt welding with 0.6 mm or 24 guage (according to Mr Google) take your time and you'll be surprised at just how good a job you can do with out spending bugger all Also if your gunna weld, folg the ton foil from the cooks kitchen draw and wrap your airlines as best as you can as these melt thru with splatter from the MIG, quick as look at you Good luck and keep us posted Try a truck wreckers for cuts from a floor to make the patch for yours, gunna get a lot of bits for 2 1/2 grand Paul
  7. Another Australian truck movie but sort of the reverse of Duel is "Road Games" Fast benz chasing a van across Australia Has some once big time Yanky actors in it Paul
  8. Another Australian movie with Mack is "The Blue Lighting" Dont bother racing a plane against a Mack, you'll have to watch it Seeyah Paul
  9. Im gunna be waiting for the pictures and video lol Great to get a result Paul
  10. Yes it doesn't matter what anyones political persuasion is or if they love or hat Alec Baldwin, end of the day he pulled the trigger so the buck must stop with him Even if he was given a supposedly empty gun or not makes no difference, he pulled the trigger Paul
  11. Something to remember is that even if everything else is working as it should and the air vent hose is still blocked you will have the same problem if that is the issue Paul
  12. McGrath is or should I say was an Australian brand of trailer, very well regarded in the transport industry and still a lot running alobg the hwys even though it's well over 30 years since they made them Heres a tale of one of mine Paul
  13. The first F model looks fantastic with that paint job Paul
  14. Your certainly heading in the right direction and doubt there is much wrong with the pump Is it linkage back to the accelerator pedal or cable, any I have worked in Australia are linkage but have no idea about the U.S. I have had mine stick wide open but I reckon you would be all over a sticking linkage Good luck and keep us posted Lucky to have some history in the old photo Paul
  15. I nearly ran off the road coming home last night when I heard that on the radio Im in complete shock and still dont know if its real or I miss heard, I hope for all involved that I miss heard but feel thats pretty unlikely Sad news for all involved Paul
  16. Seems that just every part of the bodies is available as a rust repair part, honestly at these prices I would just have a go at fixing the cab https://shop.broncograveyard.com/mobile/Truck-87-91/products/187/2/0 Paul
  17. If you know the history you would be the best judge, if it has 14000 its been around the clock It would of most likely of been rebuilt already Paul
  18. I believe the exhaust on the booster is blocked, dunno what the country is like were you live, but parts of Australia have mud wasps that plug up holes everywhere as quick as look at you I have had this happen several times and is a quick fix Paul
  19. Well all I can say is at least if you fix all the rust you know its right from then on for rust if you look after it I assume all the patch panels can be bought relatively easy over there Paul
  20. That's still a bargain in this wide brown land, lets face Ford never sold many F 150s out here 300 6 is okay, just like the 292 Mexican 6 mentioned Australia was mainly a big country as they are eimple reliable and last for ever 400,OOO miles would be a lot, 200,000 is still fine and they ar3 only broken in at 100,000 Paul
  21. Brocky I have only ever been on one organised tour and it was to Africa as I didn't even know how get out of the country let alone into another I felt after that I would in the future just go on my own and play it by ear Dont get me wrong tours are good but I found that places I wouldn't give you a thank you for I was at for a long time and other places I could spend days at the tour only lasted a hour Paul
  22. There was an Australian movue called "Paperback Hero" staring a much younger Hugh Jackman and a R model Mack He's a road train driver in Australia Movies a chick flick but trucks pretty cool old truck pulling tripples Paul
  23. Brocky the town your thinking of is Gatton and it has a great Museum, have been a few times Never made it to the Alice Springs reunion, was meant to go last year but Covid got in the way I'm gunna have to do some research into American bacon, I have only heard of bacon and streaky bacon that I cook up with pancakes for breakfast occasionally https://westerntransportmuseum.com/gallery.php?gallery=1 The owners of Western Transport, the Anderson brothers made Mack Australia what it is today They bought unwanted new Macks at first and then once Macks proved their reliability they obtained the dealer ship for all of Eastern Australia They owned the Mack Australia name factory and as a result of using Mack in their fleet, the largest fleet in Australia, they then customized Macks for Australian conditions Thats why at first glance an Australian Mack looks the same but upon closer look it is very different than American trucks Nearly 90% of all components were Australian made in Macks hey day Cyril Anderson was a man of vision who saw opportunities and took them Anyway I could talk all day about this but dont wanna bore everyone Paul
