I try and explain, tall letters like BISON, a shadow like like shadow but the shadow trailing to the rear no matter which side And the letters unfilled with rocks like shown in the blue circle Can these be done in vinyl encase it looks crap and I dont like it A day or so pass and a message comes thru with this Nah, not really not at all, close but not right So a few pictures and messages go backwards and forwards and I settle for gold infill on the letters, a full grey shadow and Kerang Vic in paint not vinyl A few more days pass and some more pictures turn up I supplied a rough hand drawn sketch of a lady bull dog not the normal butch type of dog So I'm as happy as a fat kid in a lollie shop with a fist fall of coins with this

Well it's been a while since there's been much to report, well not really but you know how it is So my faithful old Mrs Mack has done a sterling job since the make over time Put well over 100,000km on her pulled a fare few big loads from one end of this wide brown land to the other She's been to a couple of shows And most importantly she has never left me stranded yet She has led me up a garden path or two and even up dead end streets were its taken several hours to on couple a road train and back everything out and re-couple, that was a very long day So my friend Rick who does line and scroll work here in Australia was going to line and scroll her for me, try as we may we never quite got the times and dates to match Much to my surprise I got home one night from my been out and about in my Mrs Mack and read on Facebook he had suddenly passed away, after regaining my self from that shock I decided something had to happen So I decided next time Mrs Mack was gunna be free for a little bit I would ask about and get her "done up like a dunny truck" as my Grandfather would say So Im based in NSW north east Riverina for a month or so and made some enquiries about who does this type of thing Hayseed suggested a sign writer in Wagga Wagga so I made a call arranged a date and discussed some details Dropped Mrs Mack off Friday afternoon, spoke to Carl about what I wanted, think he thought I was fruit loop Anyway I'm meant to pick her up the following Sunday So I'm pretty particular about thr colours I want and I want it all hand brushed etc, no stick on line work Tuesday night I get a text with the above photo I tried to describe to Carl the style writing I wanted on the door but its a bit hard to describe if you dont know what your talking about and I dont So I spent some spare time googling and searching and more googling I couldn't find exactly what I stumbled across some time ago But eventually found something and sent a few things thru

It's a strange thing, from what I have learnt over the years about forums is that they have a huge membership but really only a dozen or so keep the show on the road normally Most come here looking for help and generally a few hang about, dunno why but that seems to be the case on any forum A forum that is about Cat machines would have to of been the worst mannered forum I have ever been on and a few drove most others away A forum is only as good or bad as the people posting on it Ego's seem to wreck most and a few people are left to pick up the pieces Sorry not much of a answer Paul

Sounds like a crook uni or or loose yoke Paul

Thinking about it, that makes a lot of sense and if a mistake is made marking things out just change the bit of tape and zero chance of using the incorrect mark Paul
-
I'll keep my eyes peeled for some photos then Paul

Im thinking to check in the order above, motors and drive line are pretty easy to rebuild but the coin gets chewed up really quick on body work and missing bits and pieces, you will be shocked at just how quick you will go thru the dollars, what ever you think it will cost no matter how experienced you are or how many mates you have it pays to remember the words of a old American hot rodder Lil John Buttera "double it and then multiply it by four" Tyres are last on my list, there a dime a dozen these days, they are the cheapest I have ever seen them Good luck and let us know how you make out Paul

Bloody hoodies, hate the things ha ha ha, Im about the only person I know that does hate them I dont like my ears been covered, sort of cant sense when the Princess is sneaking up behind me 😁😁 Mind you as each winter passes I find my self pulling my beenie further down over my ears 🤔 Your work is amazing as is your attention to detail I'm gunna ask a most likely dumb question, why do you put masking tape on things while marking them out, I'm sure theres a good reason and have noticed you do this The rusted pitted ball in the pitman arm is probably just on a taper and riveted over ? If this was the case it no doubt can be replaced I have never seen a press brake before like that, I like it and will have to make enquiries Great work and thanks for the updates Paul

They are about in Australia but very thin on the ground There was one advertised a few years ago but the bloke wanted 5 grand or more I wish I could remember were as I would track down the details as at that price he would most likely still have it It is probably far cheaper to bring one in from the States, just rent a corner in a shipping container and pay by the square meter Paul

L Fire Engine Restoration

I gather fuel line is some type of rubber ? Maybe when you get a new line made up slide a tight fitting spring over the out side to prevent it kinking again It's hard to believe 20 years has nearly passed since 9-11 Paul -

Thats a huge difference, sometimes it feels like we are getting no were at all Thank goodness we have smart phones that take photos these days, kinda shocks us back to reality Paul -
I guess it depends on your deale, Mack in Townsvilleare perfect, its quicker for me to order stuff over the phone and get it air bagged to the other end of the country Traralgon are good Dubbo is pretty good as well Laverton are okay SwanHill are okay Mildura are a waste of time, yet they own the SwanHill branch It really depends on the dealer But hands down Jenny in Townsville is the best and the rest of Townsville spare parts crew are pretty bloody good as well Paul
-
Well Im guessing a couple of things What part of the world are you in ? Maybe no one knows of any for sale,I dont know of any Dunno a little more information on who what when and were and just wait and see They aren't groing trees and are getting thinner on the ground every day Paul

People including me dont understand fully how the fuel system works If any of the valves etc are leaking mentioned here are leaking it is only a issue if you have a leak in the return line If any of these valves leak and lets fuel return to the tank the return line when sealed air tight and fully functional will siphon fuel from the tank thru the injector pump until there is a balance of vacuum between the supply and the return What this does is maintains the prime under any conditions People change valves, add check valves and do this and do that and it appears to solve the problem Then one day maybe a month, maybe a year maybe 5 years time for no apparent reason it has lost prime when sitting Might be a microscopic piece of dirt under a valve, a spring has lost a poofteenth of tension and the valve never shut correctly However the misconception we are under is that bloody vavle has failed again It hasn't, diesels are desgined for this to happen and when they do the return side of the fuel system is meant to siphon fuel up from the tank to maintain prime This is the part people do not understand and some just plain refuse to accept I wont be drawn into a long drawn out conversation about it, I will explain the facts and leave you to Not been rude here and not trying to be a smart ass, just trying to explain whats what and how it works Paul

Started my 44K Hub Pilot Conversion....
mrsmackpaul replied to Fastduramax's topic in Driveline and Suspension
Well I guess it depends on the part of the world you live in, I personally prefer them, quick to change, stronger than 10 stud bud rims and are pretty quick and simple to handle Paul -
You have a leak in your return to the tank fuel lines Pressurize the tank a little to find the leak Use a old piece of inner tube and a hose clamp over filler neck Wind the air pressure regulator right down on the work shop compressor and pressurize the system and the search for the leak Good luck Paul

Started my 44K Hub Pilot Conversion....

Hmmmmmm, I don't know of anyone in Australia that has done this Our 44's look different in Australia and have a big cone on the out side and a axle with a spline on each end that floats I do believe there is a large bush, spacer or washer on the inside of the inside bearing, goes between the bearing and the axle housing I would use the brake shoe as a guid, if it's still sitting in the drum in the correct position I would call it good Paul -
I think I can understand why the chassis was cut, I guess ut is to do with strengthening and adding clearance etc It is quite the job but should make a huge difference to slow speed driving In Australia with Australian built trucks they increased the castor angle to make them easier to turn when moving slow, the down side to this was the wandered a bit at speed Once the axle is stood back up and power steering added they then steer more like a modern truck I wonder if this is the case with your truck ?
