  1. so no body knows if a Mack box can be turned into a overdrive by swapping gears and still using the same housing ? Paul
  2. I have beem asked another question Can a Mack direct be changed into a overdrive like a Roadranger ? I have never looked into this as I have never had a need This doesn't even look like a Mack number to me but I dunno It is definitely a Mack Maxitorque 12 speed with deep reduction on the dash Paul
  3. Well done and hope it all works out for you, looks neat and tidy Paul
  4. The photo posting can be one heck of a challenge at times but I feel it is worth it adds so much to the forum to have pictures and makes it more enjoyable for all Paul
  5. Well the truck is pretty much what I expected A 350 with a series coolpower motor 12 speed, lite ass end 34 or 38's Has had broken banjo housing on the front diff My brother is looking at it, will see what comes of it, I'll chuck some more photos up after he makes his mind up I keep on reminding him (my brother) that the truck is nearly 40 years so everything will of been rebuilt several times over already and nothing most likely is still original Thanks for everyones input Paul
  6. Thanks Rob, I'll pass the info on Paul
  7. Well hot off the press The injector pump plate Can someone decipher these numbers etc for me please Thanks in advance Paul
  8. Sounds like something was in a filter some how that is almost blocking the gallery and pushes across with pressure as soon as you start it Dunno, pretty hard to guess much more with out been there, it will be most likely something silly Paul
  9. Dunno were you live but most major cities should have a spring place that can roll you up a fresh leaf to suit I would of though Or just take a tape measure and wander around local truck wreckers to find something close enough Paul
  10. I have been asked is there a positive way of indentfiying these two items As in what do all the numbers and letters I believe EN is for E series ,D is for diesel, T turbo charged next lot of numbers are displacement But thats about were my brains run out If I was to google adds for Mack trucks for sale in Australia and look at whats listed, almost every single truck is a 350 Maxidyne allegedly, even the 2 valve trucks This I know isnt correct or even close to correct but every person today tries and tells everyone else that they have the duck guts in cool powered Macks even though most Macks of this era were never sold that way and were poverty packs So can I tell from numbers if its a 2 valve Can I tell by injector pump numbers the power rating it was set at Any info on this would be gratefully accepted, Im apparently gunna get some photos of these numbers on a truck some hours away to try and help decipher, this info is coming my way in the next 2 -3 hours So if anyone has the low down, not rumors or such but the actual facts please feel free to share Paul
  11. Well I'm impressed, I try not to be anti Volvo, after all if we aren't careful the Mack brand will disappear for ever Volvo's cant be all that bad they have been used in extreme conditions in Australia pulling road trains and extreme heavy haulage for well over 40 years now Paul
  12. Thinking the new bride must be keeping him side tracked Most of us have been there or are still there Paul
  13. Sorry Im no help here, but that sounds like a sensible place to start, maybe it has come loose and shifted, I am assuming it's like a normal automotive type of sensor I have never worked on these really need to shut my trap, will observe from the side lines and learn something Paul
  14. I totally agree, for the company that doesn't do any long distance but may need to occasionally carry some extra people Something in the city were tight maneuverability is required I think it would sell like hot cakes Paul
  15. You are most likely right, my R model has been very molested from the previous owner, if I was to compare it to what you blokes would scrap in the states it would of been scrapped, even by most peoples standards in Australia it was never worth buying all those years ago But throw enough blood sweat and dollars at something and you can save anything lol I feel it would of most likely had shutters when new, I'll keep my eyes out for the rest of the parts Paul
  16. A International man of mystery lol, I dont think it really matters, KS is a very switched on person who was very willing to share and help as much as he could and that is what is important to me Paul
  17. Without been to accurate I would say 65 - 76, pretty sure the coolpowers started then and went to maybe 82, 83 and the econodyne Mind you things were different in Australia than the U.S. and our range was a lot smaller Paul
  18. Well Im impressed, I watched the road test if you would call it that of one these, wasn't really a road test that was to be in later episode, still havent found the second part I was impressed with dash not wrapping around as much allowing for a extra person or Miss Molly the border collie to ride in greater comfort with the bigger seat or me to stretch out and have a snooze in a day cab Now this cab on a Pinnacle with that mRIDE ass end and Mack axles and I reckon I would have a useful truck Paul
  19. Paul Harvey that I have mentioned before on here has said "that if our country (the U.S.A.) ever fails it will be from within" or words to that effect, I feel this applies to all good free countries of which the rest of the world envies Countries like yours and the greatest of them all Australia will fail as a direct result of the looney left and their crazy ideas There is things about America I dont like but thats fine, thats America and I'm not going to dictate to anyone else how or what they should do If you haven't really listened to Paul Harvey, get on you tube and have a listen, I dont agree with everything he says but he is really good to listen to Paul
  20. I dunno about the noise of the fan, clutch fans offer greater fuel economy and power Is this a issue for you ? only you can answer that I personally dont run a clutch fan or shutters, dont think either were ever fitted from new, so much other noise I doubt I would even hear the fan I have collected shutters for mine but not the rest of the mechanism to operate them Paul
  21. I wonder if Americans think they are the only country with the looney left as they are commonly referred to in Australia We dont talk politics in Australia very much so I rarely comment or add to this type of thread on the forum, I do read it and get a good chuckle going at times This came my way this morning and it made me chuckle, thought it might give you all a laugh as well Australia taking the piss as we say, you need to watch it and remember if you get offended you are part of the problem lol Paul
  22. Sure do miss his knowledge and input, hoping all is okay with him Paul
  23. Well I learnt something today that apparently most Americans dont know According to David Freibuger, Did you know that July 4 is NOT the celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence? Nope, this is the anniversary of the acceptance of the document by the Second Continental Congress. It was signed by most of the members of that Congress nearly a month later on August 2, 1776. So that boys and girls of the Big Mack truck forum is as we say in Australia "Todays useless information", actually John Laws a radio announcer used to share some useless information every day John Laws is probably Australia's version of Paul Harvey whom I also enjoy listening to re-runs of his speeches Yeah I know I know, shut up Paul, wishing you all in Yanky land a great day doing what ever it is that makes you Yankees who you are Paul
