  1. what part of the diagram do you need. Our diagrams are very large and I cant fit it all on one page.
  2. Turns out there was an old truck show in town and that GMC was in it. I went by the show late today after it was over and ther was a sweet looking orange B-model pulling a trailer with a couple other old pick-up on it. Wish I had brought my camera.
  3. We sure dont need the DPF but the EPA says so, just wait till 2010 when they have to add urea injection. The DPF is filter in the exhaust that catches all the soot, when it starts to get full a light comes on the dash and the driver pushes a button to regen/clean the filter. There is a seventh fuel injector in the exhaust pipe behind the turbo, when the regen starts this injector shoot fuel down the exhaust into the filter where the filter element starts to get really hot 1000-1100 degrees, this burns up the soot. Heres a diagram of the urea injection coming soon, last I heard this will be added along with the DPF but its still a few years away so who knows.
  4. Post some pics if you can. I like to see the before and after pics when you get done with her. Good luck.
  5. Saw this old GMC this morning and took some pics. Anyone know what year?
  6. If it still has the black plastic plug on the end of the harness the plug will be lettered A-F F is ign and A is battery. Here is the only diagram I could find. Hope it helps
  7. The Mack Performance Tour came by for the day, the had loaded trailers for test drives. If one comes by your area check it out.
  8. They already have a kit for the Ford Powerstrokes that replaces the DPF and it comes with a programer to delet regens, A man could make some money if he came up with one for big trucks. As long as the truck wasnt going to Californy I think no one would notice.
  9. This is our first problem with a DPF, turns out it was a plugged 7th injector, New upgraded injector is not supposed to clog.
  10. Good luck. I must say the Onecall guys are pretty up to date on the DPF stuff and dont ya just love VCADS
  11. Did the front 2 MR's have MP-8's?, saw the extra cooling fans on the back. What was the failure. I'm dealing with a DPF injector failure on an MP-8 this morning, fun fun.
  12. I think it was from the mid 50's. We used to have the serial# somewhere . When it get cold enough for the snakes to go unger ground I'll go out and gets some more info on it. Where did you get that AC?
  13. Cool, thanks for the pics and info, hope you get it running, would you have to make your own parts?, we still have some gas powered Mack fire trucks running around here. We have a Mack bus with a gas engine in it, I wish I had time to pull the motor and mess . A tree fell on the bus and smashed it, it was already rusted out, the only thing left is the motor. Heres some pics
  14. I'm new to the older Macks and would like some info and pics of the AC model engine, were they gas engines? 4or 6 cyl? were they made by Mack? Any info would be great! Thanks
  15. We heard it was called the "STEAMROLLER PROJECT". Our general manager was there last year but nobody was allowed acess to view anything. I hope they leave it at the 625 hp and not detune it like they did with most of the Volvo trucks it was installed in. We heard that at full 625 hp only hendrikson walking beam supension would hold up to the torque, air bags couldnt hold it. At the MP&/MP8 Mack school I went to last april they had some of the 16L Volvo engines in the classroom and said it was the future MP10 with a few mods to pass EPA. It is a monster of a motor.
  16. Acording to the mack maintenance and lube manual, toe in is 1/16" plus or minus 1/32". We usually set them them at 3/32" toed in with the truck unloaded. We have sent alot of truck to the alinment shop to have the axle bent to get the camber set right. To much positive camber could wear just the outside of the tires funny. Good luck because tires are $$$$
  17. I miss the old ign. keys that used to come in the late 60s early 70s R-models. The R models with the steel green dashes. Every now and then an old R-model comes in the shop with the orignal key, wish they still made those style key blanks.
  18. Yes,very good so far, the best thing is we have not had a single low power complaint, even the guys getting out of ASET-460p and going into MP-7 405 hp say they are very impressed with the power. The MP-8 485s are a blast to drive, reminds me of the old 500 hp V-8s. Drove a CHU MP-8 485 the other day and was doing 65mph in high gear and when you stomp the throttle pedal to the floor in 2 seconds you better have both hands on the wheel because it gets scary fast quick.
  19. Hello , I've been working on Macks for 21 years now at a dealership here in kentucky. This is the only job I've have ever had and only work on Macks , mostly E-7 through MP7-8. Dont know much about the older stuff, pre-86 stuff that is and dont touch trannys except for Eaton Autoshift wiring .Im glad to be here on the fourm and help out with any questions the other members might have. Thanks and look forward to talking to you guys.
