  1. For the Nox code being FMI 13, replace the outlet nox sensor, it will be the one with the black connector . On nox sensors always remember , "Grey in the front and Black in the back". The newest nox sensors have a raised fence around the outside of the body , casted into the housing , remember to do a learned data reset or sensor calibration after changing sensor
  2. Pull the intake temp/boost sensor and blow the soot off of it and retry. If no luck I gotta bulletins on SPN 105 FMI 2 . It says to replace turbo wheel speed sensor , doesn't make sense but that's what it said
  3. Bigger engine and bigger hood = more weight. I'd say 98% of our customers here have no problem with 505 being the biggest HP they can get. They are more interested in how much the total package weighs. Less truck weight = more freight, corn , wheat or what ever you can haul.
  4. Sad thing is Volvo has been using this same set up back in the D12 days(12-15 years ago or more).
  5. A few months back they had us quit using graphite paste and only rub some oil on the injector seating area. Last time I checked, we are back to using graphite paste but only a very very small amount. I need to pull it back up in Impact and see if they changed their minds again! Lol
  6. Nope . Other than at school, we have never pulled the valve cover off a common rail engine here. A few Particulate matter sensors and software have been the only problems so far . And we have several running around here.
  7. I just put cups in a 2017 pre-common rail engine last week. It can happen to any of them.
  8. Welcome to the wonderful world of the AI engine. What's the last 6 of your VIN and I can check some stuff on it in the morning
  9. Did you flow test the 7th injector? When testing it with tech tool it should "chirp" and pulse/mist fuel. Not a constant stream of fuel
  10. I believe Mack still has the manuals on E-media on their website. I bought 5 or 6 different service manuals for the Freedom right before the truck came out. Turns out between our 3 dealerships, we only got one Freedom truck to sell.
  11. Your correct , you can't on a non SCR truck. I think we had to update the dash cluster software onthe older ones. Let me check my notes in the morning
  12. There is a bulletin on soot ratio stuck on 140% and it is do a crystal sublimation regen and soot ratio will drop
  13. I think you have to do a crystal sub regen to get soot to drop on some of the trucks.
  14. What is the soot ratio before and after the last regen? Those temps sound good.
  15. RD's with ETECH engines have a serious flaw inside the cab with the way the VECU is mounted. If you pull down the kick panel in front of the passenger seat. You will find the VECU and ABS ECM. From the factory the black plastic VECU with the harnesses 3 plug in's facing up. If this is the case , water from leaking windshields drip right into the VECU. The VECU needs to be facing down. If yours is facing up. Pull the 3 plug in harness connections and check for green pins and water damage. This causes throttle drop out and engine not turning off when the key is switched off.
  16. Yep . FMI 5 is open curcuit. Bendix has all their manuals online for free also
  17. As Mack Tech . Pump timing needs bumping up 1.5 degrees over what the valve cover says but not any more or it will over heat in the summer. Injectors need refreshing or replacing . Clogged muffler is a possibility. Pressure test the complete intake system. Blown intake manifold gaskets . The air compressor intake could be on the boost side of the turbo/intake , leaks there will hurt performance
  18. Probably 40 quarts but there was an option for a 55 quart pan on the latter 460E and 460P engines . This is the ASET AC engine only in the 2004-2007 CH CX CHN and CXN models
  19. Seen it alot here lately. But I believe the update is out now. I think Tech Support has to turn on the download for that truck via E-service. But you never know as this could be for a different/new issue they are having. Did they give you a fault code number?
  20. Coolant in the engine ECM causes this alot. Faulty low coolant sensor weeps coolant down into the ECM. I hope thats not it cause its $$$$
  21. We have several deleted Macks running around here with good results. All were done by a local guy, I dont know who it is and its very hush-hush kinda thing. The trucks are running great but the only thing is the first one that he did, we were not able to get in to the ECM to change road speeds and do diag . Supposedly the latter ones have been reprogrammed and all is OK. To me the https://otrperformance.com/ looks like a better option. It does no reprogramming of any of the ECM's. They have some Youtube videos on the install. But I dont know anyone who has gone that route.
  22. Here at our dealership its the most hated repair to do. We now pull the whole engine and it make it much easier. If you can get the truck super cheap and buy a engine repair maunal and do it yourself it wont be to bad. Labor is the killer. If its been run to the point where it wont run anymore then then engine is probably full of metal. We are doing a older MP-7 now like that and its going to be around a 15 grand repair and the truck is not really worth it. Thing is with the MP engine, if your at 300-400,00 miles on the engine, a $15,000 ( parts and labor) massive bull gear failure repair is probably worth it. If the engine is 600,000 miles plus Id drop a $25, 000 ( parts only) Remack engine it it and be done with it. All this is if your going to keep the truck and use it to the point of getting your money out of it. But remember , if you got a $25,000 truck and you drop $25,000 into it, you still got a $25,000 truck. I have seen Macks as new as 2012 being junked/not repaired after massive engine failures. Its a disposable world out there now a days.
  23. Please post more pics of this truck if you have some or tell me where to find them! Thanks!
  24. Check up in the air cleaner housing too. The ASET AC engine turbos were known to puke bits back up into the air fiter and piping. Seen way to many new turbos suck bits back through them out of the air filter and piping.
  25. We gotta CL in the shop now with a big red top Cummins engine in it. Of the ones I've seen if its a vendor engine it was usually a Detroit or an older Cummins. I was shocked when we popped the hood,
