  1. Our local 1999 CL with the 460XT with Mack 18 speed trans and Mack 92 series rear axles. Customer had a complete engine rebuild done 2 years ago . I believe it was at the million mile mark. Still runs every day as he lives only a mile from my house. Here are the only problems I have seen with the 460XT. Be ready to change rear motor mount bushings/bolts about every 9 months if you use truck every day. Leave the torque limit switch on the trans hooked up. Our customer has his unhooked, and about every 12-15 months he breaks a through shaft or a axle shaft. No engine problems at all. The CL has the radiator to handle the heat. On 2000CL713 truck, I sent the 460 and 460XT HP upgrade request to Mack yesterday and only the the regular 460 program is available anymore. No more XT upgrades.
  2. AI engine turbo and injector part numbers for different HP levels. scan0588.pdf
  3. On the AI engines, the 350 and 400 are the exact same engine ( turbo and injectors and so on). A dealer should be able to request a HP upgrade to 400HP to Mack. Which would also be a good time to update all software in the ECM's.
  4. The newer Macks have no regen switch and is done through the Guard Dog cluster. On all Macks , you can only do a regen if the truck/ECM ask for one. Otherwise you need the Mack software or an aftermarket Diag software that allows regents.
  5. On The ETECH or ASET engines , if you have a air fan clutch , you can add the factory fan over ride switch and have the dealer turn it in the software. On the ASET engines with the electric BEHR fan. There is no option for a fan over ride switch. However I have seen people take one of the wires going to the "green" AC pressure switch on the high side line ( not the one on the drier) cut it and run it in the cab and run it through a switch and back out to the pressure switch. This way you can break the circuit with the switch and turn the fan on as the ECM thinks the AC has high pressure. Plus it's still running through the high pressure switch so it will work a usual. This circuit is active whether the AC is on or off.
  6. It will be Tuesday before I get back to work and can check out the best route to go
  7. The software for the MP equipped Macks is sometimes updated as many as 3 times a week or as little as once a year depending on the year and ECM. The updates are usually to fix ongoing issues and or prevent future issues from happening. They rarely tell us what's been changed but I have seen the updates help with SCR , DPF and EGR issues.
  8. Unplug the 3 connectors from the engine ECM and check for coolant or oil inside the connector.
  9. Is it red motor ( MP) or grey motor (ASET)?
  10. Whats the last 6 of your VIN?
  11. 30 to 50 HP power loss.
  12. Good thing is you have a regular ETECH engine. Better thing is your already at the 427 HP level. On the ETECH engine ( pre-CCRS and pre-ASET) the 427 and 460 and 460XT use the exact same turbo, injectors and cam key way. So really a factory HP download upgrade to 460 HP would be easy if you have a good dealership to work with. They can submit a HP change request via E-service. I dont know if Mack is still doing the 460XT program. We do lots of HP upgrades but now mostly on red motors.
  13. The new Mack (VOLVO) part number is 25055394. However none of the Mack parts warehouses have any or will probably get any. Aftermarket is your best source.
  14. loss of voltage or ground to cab 9-2 code.pdf
  15. Is yours air operated or all electric like the one in this bulletin? Behr fan clutch AC engines.pdf
  16. Hope your ok. You must rebuild. I was just thinking of you last week as I saw acouple of race trucks like your being trailered towards Nashville
  17. The CTP and CXP were only made in 2007 and had a pre-DPF MP-7engine. They used a EGR mass flow just like the ASET AC engine. I would say a block off plate would probably work. All the mass flow sensors on all the CTP's around here haven't worked in years and no derate
  18. Boss man was there at the unveiling, all I got was this pic
  19. SID 77 is brake demand sensors. They are located on the foot valve on the fire wall. Go to Bendix.com and go to document library and type in SD-13-4869 and choose troubleshooting and down load it. Bendix and Eaton are great about public access to all their manuals . Also RH Sheppard steering gears too!
  20. Disregard what I said about the rocker arm, that only applied if it was a FMI-7 . The FMI-5 you have means open circuit so chances are harness/harness end or injector
  21. This thin 7/8" Bonney brand wrench works great on water lines on the early 7th injectors. I bought a snap on one befor I realized I had this one in my grandfathers old tool box, I use it weekly
  22. Could be harness , injector or rocker arm. Cant find the Bulletin on the rocker arm causing the issue. I just remember it was for the non-DPF MP-7 engine only. Ill keep looking. injector Harness end connectors.pdf
  23. Might be last day of boating season for us however next weekend looks promising. Hurricane Irma is gonna dump some much needed rain here and raise the lake levels up some. I hope to squeeze one more weekend out! When your making monthly boat payments , it's hard to put it up for the winter.
  24. It's standard procedure here to update the software in the engine ECM, DEF/SCR ECM and dash cluster when engine and emissions fault codes are logged. Lots of times the new software solves existing issues and can prevent future issues. I have never see theses updates cause low power complaints. However, there are two possible ways things can go wrong with software downloads and I have done them both. First. Make sure TechTool is restarted for truck it's plugged up to. A couple of times I didn't close out the job card I was on and went and plugged it into a different truck. TechTool thought i was still plugged into first truck and if I were to do any programming, the data from the first truck could have been put into the second truck. The other way (and this happened the other day), all the ECM's in the truck are programmed with the VIN of the truck they originally came from. If the dash cluster , Vecu , engine ecm or DEF/SCR ecm were swapped from another truck, the VIN's won't match. This shows up when you first plug up to TechTool as Mis-matched hardware. You then have to choose which VIN you want to choose, of course you pick the one on the door. If you choose the other VIN , your truck now get programmed as that truck. In these cases your 505 truck could be programmed to 415 . Dealer should be able to go to "product information " in TechTool and confirm HP and that all Vins in ECM's match what's on the door. That said , we sold a 505 hp CHU to a customer and he used it for a week and loved it. Next week he comes in and says it has no power. We test drive and confirm it. Long story short , we install new turbo and injectors and EGR valve. Still no better. Come to find out , owner changes tires and wheels to full size 24.5" and didn't tell us. It threw the computer off so bad it killed the power. Changed the revs per mile in ecm and all good .
  25. I do lots of ECM programing at a dealership. Tell me what ya got
