  1. Changing a TRW box on a 2014 CXU today. We have no problems out of the Sheppard M series on the new trucks. One of our death wobble/tire wear problem CXU's had its steering box changed when it was a month old.
  2. Sheppard has their service manuals on line for free. Kinda hard to find them on there though. Im going with air in system or something floating around in resivore clogging supply to pump. I assume its a 92 series gear , the M series sometimes had places to bleed the air out.
  3. In my notes here, My DSM said to make sure the caster is 3 to 3.5 degrees before installing the bronze bushings and steering stabilizer. This axle has been around and not changed since around 2005. Really dont know why we are getting all the complaints of "death wobble" and tire wear. Dont know what has changed lately. We also have some bad cab shake complaints on the full flaring day cabs whne following a van trailer. I have test drove and verified the cab shake on a new day cab and it was scary! mack does have a fix for that issue.
  4. Its just not offical yet and has to be approved by a DSM ( to get Mack to cover it under warranty or goodwill). We put the bushings in ( dont ream them, you want them tight) and install the steering damper/stabilizer. If that dont fix it, they have a new thicker front axle to install ( but this is rare). The newest trucks coming out just started having the heavier axle beam and bronze bushings. This all came out about 2 months ago but like I said still not official.
  5. There are some new top secret bronze bottom king pin bushings that just came out. The dealers DSM should be contacted and get the new bushings installed. Part # 4103-7421416557. This is for the FXL sealed hub style axle.
  6. CHN/CXN had ASET E-7 engines, CXP/CTP had non-DPF MP-7 engines only, then latter came CHU/CXU, they had MP engines with DPF then latter SCR was added. The CMM/CMH I have no idea, are thoses export models?
  7. According to the Mack tune up manual, you should be getting 24-32 psi. also check your intake manifold gaskets and the air compressor intake piping over to the intake manifold.
  8. All AC/AI ASET engine take the straight key way regardless of HP level. Only the older ETECH 98-02 ( pre-CCRS engines) used the offset key ways. The 355/380 puts out the same torque as a 427HP. To bump any higher you gotta change the turbo and injectors and do the download. If your gonna do that might as well go all the way to 460P. All parts and labor will get close to if not over $5000
  9. Had a new 2015 CHU in our shop on Monday and the DEF guage would not work. After spending all day on it we finally found that the Turbo actuator had a short in the J-1939 communication line and was somehow affeccting the DEF guage. Turbo/actuator was working fine and no low power complaint but that was a hard one to figure out.
  10. The filters are in the pump. However I have rarely seen a pump last long enough to need the filter changed. LOL. Ill see if i can attach a service bulletin about it. MTPI 258-008PB.pdf
  11. If your truck has an EGR valve toward the rear of the exhaust manifold, it could be that opening or closing. Also if the has a turbo with an actuator on it , that could be normal. as long as its not leaking exhaust anywhere, its probably good. being an export model from the US i dont know what kind of emission system would be on the truck/engine.
  12. Your truck might fall into this range of bad clusters. dash drop out.pdf
  13. You can get a custome parts book by serial # for $395 or a CD for up 20 different trucks (the way I understand) for $295. You can order it on the Mack website in the E-media section,
  14. info here sb266014 jake lash.pdf sb266012 jake screws.pdf sb266015 jake oil line covert.pdf sb266017 jake info.pdf
  15. The kit was to help with Jake brake issues on engines with high miles and low oil pressure, if your engine brake works good when hot this migh not help.
  16. Mack alway told us , dont change the cam bearings unless its grooved up bad enough you hang your finger nail on the #2 and #5 cam bearing. We rarely ever put cam bearings in ETECH style engines. This was back around 2000 when we were doing 3-4 cam jobs a week under warranty.
  17. On a disc its probably Volvo or mack only. We are online with Mack
  18. In 1998 was the year the ETECH first started to appear. You could get the E-7 VMAC or ETECH engine. Is this an ETECH? Or a injection pump VMAC engine?
  19. Its controled through the engine ECM. The ECM looks at coolant temp, intake air manifold temp and A/C head pressure ( and can be set up to turn on when engine brake is turned on). Any of these things can turn on the fan. 12 volts comes from the fuse panel and goes through the solenoid to the engine ECM. The engine ECM grounds the solenoid wire to turn on the fan when it sees the correct input from any of the above sensors..
  20. Yes, its the exact same. Even the VCADS/ PTT troubleshooting software program is the same for Mack and Volvo. Your pass word lets you into only what your allowed view.
  21. I have seen some of the same exact parts have different part#'s for Mack or Volvo. It might be something as simple a the box it comes in. We have called Mack Parts specs before for a part that Mack was out of and they could find the same part over on the Volvo side, just in a Volvo box. We as a Mack Dealer can't look up Volvo parts on Impact, if we were a dual dealer we could.
  22. As long as Mack uses Bendix instead of meritor/wabco, Im happy. I would not put anything Meritor/Wabco on my truck or anyone i know's truck.
  23. Check this bulletin , it tell how to check the flywheel. 3-4 code.pdf
