  1. We had a customer that built up an ETECH engine from spare parts and put a VMAC 1992-98 flywheel in it. No knotched teeth on the flywheel for the sensor to read, had the the 3-2 code.
  2. As far as the EUP itself, I dont think there is a + and -. It just makes a simple circuit and activates a electro-magnet in the EUP. But all the harnesses are laid out that way. I one time reversed the wires on a EUPto see what would happen and it still fired with no miss. But I could be wrong. Lol
  3. Mack the king of recalls! at least it gives me something to do other than injector cups and DEF pumps!
  4. flywheel sensor (RPM/TDC sensor) bad or not reading correctly. It should start with out sensor plugged in but usually have to crank on it for 10 seconds as its using the cam shaft sensor to calcuate timing.
  5. In 2017 we will hopefully see the common rail MP engine here in the states. Being tested in Europe as we speak. Hopefully it will mean the end of the cup and broken injector issues.
  6. All new engine ECMs are blank. ( pretty much) . You can plug it in out of the box and truck will start and you can drive it but it will be weak. The part # of the engine ECM has nothing to do with its HP rating, your new ECM could be used in a 275 to a 460 HP, Its all in the dealer programing it with the info/HP of your engine from Macks mainframe computer system. On that style ECM , a tiny dent on the cover can short one out. Looking at my AI engine HP chart. The 350 and 400 HP is exact same engine except the programing is different. when you go up to the 427 or 460 HP the turbo and injectors have to be changed. 427 and 460 use the same injectors but the 460 has a bigger/different turbo than the 427. If you were going to pay that kinda money might as well go all the way to the 460 HP.
  7. There are other things that need to be changed other than the programming to bump the HP. My chart is at work on Part differences between HP levels on the AI engine. Chances are you need a turbo or injectors or both to get to 427 if you did keep the 427 engine ECU on there. As a rule of thumb 350 and 400 HP turbos and injectors are the same. 427 and 460 use different ones. There is not much stored on the engine ECU , besides the HP level, there is fan type (air or viscus or electric viscus) , fan temp engagement, A/C (yes-no), engine brake type and a few other choices of things. You could use the 427 ECM as long as it was AI engine and the above choices were set correctly. But to say your gonna get 427 HP, I doubt it with out injector/turbo swap.
  8. Finally got that Bulletin to attach , it might help in the future. snm 13- 022 kev2 spn5394 fmi17 diagnostic.pdf
  9. Good news. Sometimes the codes wont go inactive after replacing the NOX sensors , we have to clear the codes and test drive or do acouple of regular regens.
  10. Blow-by filter on timing cover clogged. removed top cover and wash out wire mesh screen. If it has milky sludge in the filter you might have leaking liners.
  11. Your local dealer has to apply for you ( I think) . Its called "Trucks Customer Portal". We have never set it up for any one yet.
  12. Check this out injector harness.pdf
  13. I updated my post above yours, Look at getting thoses recalls done
  14. Yes , your software/datafiles all are up to date. What size tires you got on the truck ? The truck came with 22.5 wheels, If someone changed wheels and put 24.5 full size tires on it with the 4.42 rear gears it might seem sluggish. Also there are 2 open recalls on this truck. One for a faulty brake valve and one for steer axle beam inspection.
  15. Whats the last 6 of your vin? I can see if the newest software was downloaded. On the manifold, any 1999-2002 CH or CX should work, the ones for the MR and LE and CL are different though. I have heard of people doing this but dont know 100% if it really helps alot.
  16. Doing another NOX sensor replacement this morning. Super nice 2012 Rawhide has Active code of SPN-5394 FMI-17. Truck has been to 4 dealers in the last 4 weeks and nobody changed the NOX sensors. I hope this fixes it! LOL
  17. The ASET AI exhaust manifold that came on your truck is very small compaired to the regular ETECH style manifold. I have heard that if you do replace the manifold with an ETECH style maifold you must also replace the turbo, as the larger air flow will over spin the AI turbo and cause it to fail. That was from our turbo rebuilder. As far as poor throttle responce and being sluggish, have you had the "Step 12B" download done to it yet???
  18. Order the paper manuals direct from Mack. go to Macktrucks.com, then click on "parts and service" then go to service and go into the Mack e-media system . Thats the same thing us dealers have to do to order manuals.
  19. The newest NOx senor part numbers are 21636091 for the pre-SCR (bottom of the DPF) and 22014032 for the post -SCR (SCR box outlet) . Working on a truck now that came in with SCR derated 5MPH. Active codes SPN-4094 FMI-18 and SPN-5394 FMI-17. Did all the DEF doser test and all good. replaced both NOX sensor with newest sensor, updated software in engine and SCR ECM's and did crystal sub regen and a regular regen, all OK. I do about 1 a week of these.
  20. Never heard of the SCR " mixing box" go bad. Are you doing the crystal sublimation regens? They are different type or regen that dont dose DEF and get hotter. There is a Mack service bulletin that has some tips on the 4094 code. It's SNM 13-022 if u have acess to the Trucks dealer portal through Mack. I cant seem to attach the bulletin or even make a copy of it for some reason. If the DEF doser seems to be working correctly, replaced both NOx sensors as said above.
  21. It has had a new cam installed not long ago, not to many warranty claims on this truck. The software and datafiles have never been upgraded. The 2004 CH-CX were the worst year. In 2005 the CXN-CHN came out with the wider frame to allow bigger radiator and after cooler. The EGR cooler problems never really went away but if you keep the screen in the lower radiator "Y" pipe clean it will really help alot.
  22. Installing third set of injector cups this week, seems like Im reliving 2008 again!

  23. Glad I saw this as I was wondering what I was gonna have to do when a ODBII truck came in for ABS problems. We aslo have the Cummins Insite program but haven"t even thought about that yet ODB hook up yet.
  24. Heres some of the bulletins. Coolant push 1.pdf coolant push 2.pdf coolant push 3.pdf
