  1. From the album: General Repairs & Restoration

Here's a view of the lid, top, and bottom pieces all ready for primer & paint!
  2. From the album: General Repairs & Restoration

Here's the bottom half of the heater assembly after sandblasting, some wirewheel work, and now ready for primer and paint. This took a LOT of time to sandblast, as it has so many different surface areas...
  3. From the album: General Repairs & Restoration

Here's the top half of the heater assembly after sandblasting, some wirewheel work, and now ready for primer and paint. This is the part that regulates the air flow through the heater core - it does so via a metal flap that is controlled from the cab interior.
  4. From the album: General Repairs & Restoration

Well, winter got here and the old heater bit the dust. Leaks from the heater core ruined the original fan motor, and cause lots of surface rust inside the metal housing. So....I just couldn't replace the heat core and blower motor and put it all back together all rusted like that! No sir! Not me! I'm a glutton for punishment - I had to decide to take it all down to bare metal and restore it back to better-than-new! This is the lid that is removable from the assembly after it was sandblasted, ready for primer and paint.
  5. From the album: "Mackification"

Installed this Johnson Messenger 123B CB Radio a few weeks ago. I found it on eBay NEW in the box! Never used, it tested out perfectly using a temporary magnetic mount antenna on the roof of the truck.
  6. From the album: "Mackification"

The process of Mackification continues... Added two new Hustler RG-27 Mirror-mounted CB Antenna's today. Will add the coax next week.

These look pretty neat in the dark, too! I really LIKE how they light up the bulldog hood ornament - you can see it nicely from the driver's seat, plus it makes it more visible to those around the truck!
  8. OK - found the camera cable, and have posted new pic's here: My Gallery I've already begun the "Mackification" process, and will add more pic's as I go along. My next (planned) step is to get the metal MACK accelerator pedal I got from Glenn off of the old R-model wire-wheeled and installed... Let me know what ya'll think...
  9. From the album: "Mackification"

A really difficult procedure, mounting this. Took 6 hours to get it right. If you do one for yours, be SURE to look at the BOTTOM inside before you drill any holes! If I had, it would have been MUCH easier! Also - be SURE and gasket the base so it doesn't scratch the paint (I did this with the mirror brackets, too).
  10. From the album: "Mackification"

Neat, huh? (Note the new windshield - no more wide cracks! I'm amazed that you can no longer get this windshield from an AMERICAN manufacturer - they're now made by ChiCom slaves... )

Another view of the cab and changes to it. Neglected to mention the original, NOS factory AM radio antenna I installed. Found a place down south that buys all the NOS radio antenna's for old vehicles he can find. This is an OEM part that you could order from the chevy dealer when the truck was new. I know - our first truck like this had one. Wasn't too expensive, either...
  12. From the album: "Mackification"

The process begins with several "make it look more like a truck" steps: 1. New-from-the-factory hood ornament. First things first, of course - installed this before anything else. If you're looking for something like this and want to save money, ask your dealer to order it out of the accessory book - way less than if you order it for a truck, and it's the SAME item! 2. New West Coast, Jr. stainless steel mirrors. I couldn't believe they were still being made, and in the USA! Found a place where they were less than $40 each (less than 1/2 what other places were charging)! 3. New cab lights. These retro-look lights worked really well on Mack, Jr. - had a hard time finding them, though! Wanted something with lots of chrome. They also have a nice curve to match the slope of the roof. If I told you what they were designed to fit originally, you'd flip!
  13. Got to go over and meet Glenn (theakerstwo) the other day - super great guy! THANKS for the accelerator pedal and older R-model dash, Glenn! Plan on wire-wheeling the pedal and putting it on "Mack, Jr." soon. Will be posting pics as soon as I can find the cable that connects the camera to the computer...
  14. Hey guys! Got the pic's of "Mack, Jr." when we picked him up in Arkansas City, Kansas posted in "My Gallery". Check 'em out. I'll be posting more photo's soon - I'm thinking of starting a thread on the "transformation." What do ya'll think? - Todd
  15. Thanks Glenn! I'll be over soon to see what you have!
  16. From the album: "Mack, Jr." - Before

This is the original factory L6, 230 CID engine as it was when we got it.
  17. Here is my 1965 Chevrolet 1/2-ton pickup when we went to Arkansas City, Kansas to get it and bring it home.
  18. THANKS! Give me a call - let's get together after the rainstorm passes: maybe next week.
  19. Thanks bulldog man! It's going to be a slow conversion, as I have to do "pay as you go", but it will be worth it!
  20. Hi Glenn! I can't say enough good about Perry Harper - he treated me like a grown man (of course, he expected me to WORK like one, too, which I did), and never played favorites with me, just because my dad ordered lots and lots and lots of trucks from him. Once, he even fired a shop forman who cussed me out by the water fountain for doing my job the way I'd been told. This poor man didn't know Mr. Harper was watching him from behind and up the stairs by the Parts Window. The louder this fellow got, the redder the end of Perry's cigar got. He soon turned on his heel, went back to his office, the man was summoned and summarily fired. Later, Barbara Harper, Perry's wife, told me he said "NO ONE treats my employees like they're lower than a dog!", or something like that. Maybe we can get together sometime, Glenn - got any old parts for my project?
