Have any of you guys replaced the cab pivot bushings on a CX? Mine are shot and need replaced. Wandering if this is a job a DIY guy can do by his self?

CXU613 No power to AC compressor
Refined Trucker replied to Cdunlap's topic in Electrical, Electronics and Lighting
My CX has recently had same prob. For quick fix I wired switch into wire going to comp. under hood and turn on this way. Other day had time to do some trouble shooting and found where harness plugs into top of the control unit it has bad connection in plug. Got new harness but haven't had time to install. -
Any one know where I could find a wiring diagram for a 2001 cx613. Was putting in switch today so I can turn off or on bunk HVAC from drivers seat. Would have sure saved some time. I'm sure I will have another project this would help. I just can't leave well enough alone!

Wheeler73 I'm going to jump on the band wagon here and ask if you will check mine also. 01 cx613 #520010. Thanks for the help. As with these other guys my dealer's guru was probably just outa diapers when this truck was built. He don't seem to know much about vmacIII. -
Thanks for the replys. I will have them check parameters next time I'm by the dealer. I just wish I could find someone more knowledgeable than the guy at dealer seems to be. I seem to know more than he does just by reading post on here. Been kicking around the idea of getting my own prolink or similar so I can adjust parameters myself. The truck only has 580k on it so will probably be in my stable for awhile.

Does anyone know if there where more than one 427 program? I believe I have read on here there were at least three different 460 programs. Reason I ask is the other day had mine reflashed to try an rule out a problem. When it came up as I believe a 427e+ the tech kinda mumbled that's different. Just got me wondering now if I saw what I thought and heard what I thought. Had dealer give me a ecm off a used truck on the lot to try for a couple weeks before this and problem went away so that's why mine was reflashed. Problem is gone now but truck doesn't quite run as good as it did with the other ecm. Just made me think maybe it had different program. This is an 01 model

tractor air suspension question
Refined Trucker replied to Hook n ladder 1's topic in Driveline and Suspension
I installed the Canadian load share on my Pete 2 years ago. Removed second spring and replaced with a very thin one to act as the safety. This allows the bag to do most of the work. The thin leaf runs back through the ubolts then ends. Bags are plumbed together and controlled by in cab controller. Worked very well. There are probably 30 trucks done this way at company I'm leased to. Sold my Pete last summer and got first dog. It is getting same treatment when I go on vacation this summer. I really miss those front air bags. -
Fuel milage
Refined Trucker replied to Mackdaddy2030's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
01 cx613 pulling gas can. ran down in Tn lots of 2 lane winding hilly rd then came back empty to In reloaded and delivered in IL rural 2 and four lanes and lots of stop lights bounced 45 mile back home and made 7.5 mpg that's grossed out + with Rochester stage 2 and their turbo kit. That's about its best average but always will make 7 no matter where I run. -
I live near Mt Vernon and previously talked to the Diesel Dr. He could do nothing for Mack. So I sent mine off to heavy diesel tuner for a 100 ponies boost. It made a noticeable diff but then within 2 weeks My turbo was sounding like it was going to give up and I decided to do stage 2 injectors and the turbo. Now it runs too good, under a hard pull it will give a timing coad and cut power briefly. 40 year vetran mack tech thinks it twisting crank enough more that the position sensor is not able to read and causing this. So I'm probably going to detune a bit. Plus have an intermittent miss that is driving me crazy that's looking like it may be ecm related. My thinking was if its ecm I could just go with stock xt file and truck ought to be fine with the injectors and turbo then. Oh well That's what happens when you try to be different and make a dog try and keep up with a bunch of cats and Cummins on steroids.
-
Can anyone tell me if the 460xt file is available if you have to reflash the ecm that has the xt file.

Engine chugging or could call it a surge.
Refined Trucker replied to Refined Trucker's topic in Engine and Transmission
Yes tires are matched set. I think I found the problem yesterday. I'm pretty sure one of my new injectors is trying to lay down. Had been battling a intermittent very slight miss and now its not so slight. Noticed wetness around #6 exhaust port yesterday. So I'm hoping its fuel and this is my bad injector. Which is probably the cause for the chugging I was noticing. -
I would think not. Especially if the T is up on frame by the valve they probably won't even notice. My experience is that they are mainly concerned with brake condition and adjustment

01 Etech with custom file in ECM. Wants to I call it chug when you are trying to maintain a constant speed with out much load on engine. Like rolling through a 30mph zone on level ground. You can let off a bit or increase throttle and it will quit. Also does it on cruise at highway speeds when terrain doest require much throttle. I am wandering if my ECM is going haywire or if its a glitch in programming. Got me scratching my head. It will also surge the throttle when in cruise and pulling a slight grade that doesn't require a lot of power or coasting down a slight grade will do the same. Its like the cruise is way to sensitive in these situations. Anybody run into this before?

2004 mack unit pump installation
Refined Trucker replied to bulldog 28's topic in Engine and Transmission
6 reman ones from Rochester they were over $100 cheaper per EUP than from Mack. Mack trucksemedia.com should get you in the right spot. I just googled mack etech repair manual and it is the third one down on the list to pick from. You can buy the manual for 30 bucks. But it will let you download and save the PDF -
2004 mack unit pump installation
Refined Trucker replied to bulldog 28's topic in Engine and Transmission
You can go to mack website publications and download engine repair manual. All steps are there from removal to replace. At least they were for my 01 etech. I just did all six of mine Monday night. Took about 3.5 hours to complete. -
Thanks guys. Was going to install at our shop. Can do that and get by Mack in a few days and have them update the codes then.
-
I am getting conflicting info from Mack mechanic and guy I bought EUP's from mechanic says will have to update ECM with new codes off of EUP. Supplier says no you don't on the ETech. Was wondering which is right. This is on an 01 ETech. Thanks for any insight.

On my 01 just hit set then hold resume until it goes up to where I want it. About 900 for mine running hydraulic driven pump. I think it tops out at 1100.

I have an 01 cx613 427 13spd 3.73 My first Mack I came from Red Oval and 525 n14. Wanted to try a dog so I bought this one in March. There is a lot I like about it and some I don't but you will have that with all of them. It was low mileage pre emmision and had been on the show circut so lots of bling. That's why my wife says I bought it. I had to add RFI stage 2 injectors turbo and custom ecm program to get the power up to where I wanted. Its a little slow on take off but once up to speed it will flat pull. Like milk man my worst econ was 6.2 and the best was 7.9 but usually around 7 running in the low 80 range gross on mostly 2 lane roads. It has had a few bugs but I'm hoping its just because previous owner only logged about 5k per year and now its getting shook down earning its keep. All in all its a good truck. And the best driving truck ever just steers and goes down the road like a car.
