  1. Lindahl has been running from their job on 90 to bluff city everyday no more macks all petes now that's a pretty high plate number on that old mack. The trucks I have been seeing all have plates numbered from 1-48 running around here by the way the trailer plates match the number of the plate on the tractor too.
  2. If you are on the rt 20 side of it I'm sure you will see me many times a day.
  3. The C word is only an acronym anyways for CAN'T UNDERSTAND NORMAL THINKING.
  4. I saw this looking through auction sites today it was a fire department truck had a tank on it if it were closer to home it would be part of my collection of orphans. I think this would be a great candidate for a dump truck or maybe move the drives up a bit and put a fifth wheel on it.https://www.govdeals.com/index.cfm?fa=Main.Item&itemid=107&acctid=6675
  5. Next project is to get a small wire welder and set it for just welding aluminum I'm going to make some diamond plate battery boxes I can make some extras and sell them to where I work to help pay for the welder.
  6. I'm not really worried I can fix most scuffs its not a show quality paint job so its not as painful as if I spent thousands on it.
  7. All the air tanks are rusted through I had to weld up patches on them to hold air they will be replaced next year with polished stainless tanks.
  8. I wouldn't have a problem with that.
  9. Well I moved the superliner to the other driveway where it will sit for the winter heres a couple pics of the finished tank mounted on the truck.
  10. You can only get silicosis if you blast without a mask I use the same mask I use for painting while sandblasting I also use the black coal slag sand.
  11. I think its an 81 it sure looks lonely sitting in their yard with the front tire flat where it has been sitting all year.
  12. I have to have something to do with my spare time what little of it there is.
  13. I see the nissen superliner has been parked all summer too I spoke to one of the employees he said it needs work and they are not sure if they want to sink the money into it. I would have bought it had I not bought the one I have now I'm sure it doesn't need the amount of work mine requires.
  14. Got things wet sanded today I was going to just buff it all out until I looked in the paint cabinet and found two unopened gallons of clearcoat and an unopened can of clearcoat hardner from a 37 chevy project a few years ago. I did the straps and tank I think they came out good enough I'm not going to wet sand and buff the clearcoat out its pretty clean for doing it in the driveway by the shop the pits in the aluminum where the strap goes can easily be seen in the first picture because of the glossy surface.
  15. The whole stack is welded up junk pieces from the scrap pile I figured why buy a stack for temporary use the money could be better spent on buying parts. The stars took some figuring I have a stencil with five stars on it so I had to not only get them in a straight line but stagger the rows as well.
  16. I use NAPA paint its easy to mix and shoot its got the clear coat right in it so after wet sanding it buffs to a nice shine the frame paint was glossy right from the gun so its as it went on the frame no sanding or buffing.
  17. I find I learn to do a lot of things because I'm pretty cheap and this truck is costing me a lot of money to restore I was glad the tank straps were in such good shape after finding out what they cost new.
  18. Fuel tank almost done shot it with paint sunday then peeled all the masked off stars off and this weekend I will wet sand it and buff it to a nice shine. I sent the straps to the sandblaster they had to heat the straps to soften the coating enough to blast it off but I managed to get them primed and painted after work yesterday. I am going to try my hand at pinstriping I did some small stars on the straps made me wish I still drank trying to hold a steady hand after a nerve wracking day but I'm happy with the results so far.
  19. If you want to see what happens to a truck with a crane on a lowboy get hit by a train this will make anyone that's ever been behind the control stand shudder. This train starts to quickly slow down as the tank cars are peeling off the rails to the left of the picture pretty scary stuff.
  20. I remember many years ago my uncle and myself had a pair of F7s lashed up running freight and hit a pick up truck that truck looked like it was shot out of a cannon when we hit him at 30 miles per hour. He lived and hopefully learned there is no contest when a train hits you not many can say they learned the hard way because they were no longer here.
  21. Looks like someone forgot to release the brakes and surprisingly that was the weak point in the drive line.
  22. Due to the nice warm weather I finished painting the fuel tank hangers the straps are going into the sandblaster Monday they are coated with a epoxy type paint that's coming off in places they will be painted red as well. The tank has been cleaned sandblasted and primed I painted the undercoat of white then I marked off all the stars on it today they will be masked off tomorrow if the weather permits the tank will get its blue coat of paint put on and I will peel the masked off stars and see if it turns out the way I want it to.
  23. My cab for the superliner came from California it weighed in at 1500 pounds.
  24. The stand came off a steel framed truck I used a 3/4 inch aluminum plate on each side of the trunnion for shims the plates were the same size as the whole mounting plate on the stand. I had to move some of the cross members around so the U-joint on the front axle had clearance I also had a 500 dollar driveshaft built because the front axle had 1810 U-joints and the superliner had 1710 U-joints.
  25. My superliner is a Hayward manufactured truck I am taking the fuel tanks off to paint the frame I see one strap has been replaced with a nice stainless steel one. The straps are like the ones used for the CH series trucks does anyone know if they are the same the tanks are 24 inches in diameter I would like to replace the steel originals even though they are still in pretty good shape.
