  1. Or when they poke along at fifty MPH and you go to pass them and you get up to 70 before you have to back it down because the pinhead finally puts the phone down and hits the accelerator not letting you by them.
  2. I brought my old mack down to the dupage airport for display among the military trucks for the honor flight fundraiser today. It was so refreshing to see people salute the flag as the color guard brought it down the aisle today instead of standing on it like a lot of turds are doing today. There was a tribute to all the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice as well as the MIAs first was taps then two bagpipers did amazing grace not many dry eyes in the room after that. The national anthem was sung by a woman who did a fantastic job and sang it the was it was supposed to be instead of adding their own personal flair to it that was a refreshing change as well. My friends the Legacy girls did a great job as always singing the Andrews sisters world war two hits those old guys just love them they see every flight off at 5:30 AM from midway airport to sing for these guys heading to Washington DC on the honor flights they even found time to strike a pose in front of my old mack.
  3. Thanks I will check it out.
  4. Ever since I bought my RS700L I have had parking brake problems both the release valve and distribution valves on the driver side frame rail were replaced. I replaced both valves when I bought the truck with valves from my parts truck. The original valves were broke off the frame that's why they were replaced all airlines were swapped to the same ports on the valves they were taken from. Now the problem is there is a delay when pulling the valve out to set the parking brakes there is a noticeable sound of air being forced somewhere I don't believe it should be when pushing in the yellow release valve there is a noticeable hiss of air behind the dash somewhere by the release valves on the dash which quits after 6-8 seconds but does drop the air pressure gauge quite a bit. The distribution valve on the frame leaks all the air from the tanks within an hour after parking the same as it did with the old valves that were replaced. When pushing in the blue tractor brake valve on the dash it is being held out by air pressure it wont stay pushed in the release position the only valve that will stay in to release the brakes is the yellow valve. I would like to eliminate the extra release valves in the cab because the truck is no longer a semi tractor its just a straight truck now any suggestions would be helpful something is routed wrong somewhere..
  5. Looks like super mix must have bit the dust too I see point redi mix stickers plastered on the doors of the trucks now.
  6. Could have been a site truck did mostly off road site work.
  7. I have one that came off the cab of my 89 don't know if its different or not.
  8. Acme refining must have gone under I see some of their tractors parked at other companies and they were peeling the names off the doors and saw one of their RDs on a lowboy in front of me heading north the lowboy had Wisconsin plates.
  9. I would have sent his a$$ to jail too I hate a thief family or not.
  10. Everything has been made of inferior quality components whether for environmental reasons but remember the corporations bottom line comes first so the stockholders and most importantly the CEO make lots of money. The workforce is been stretched very thin someone quits don't replace them just make the others work harder people are getting tired of it and in a lot of instances the lack of quality comes from lack of pride in a job well done. Very few get bonuses anymore just make me more money and quit bitching is the companies attitude now days or the standard line no raises just be happy you have a job people are getting fed up with it.
  11. To far away for me but it looks to be a good truck wish I were closer.http://realestatesales.gov/gsaauctions/aucitsrh/?sl=A1QSCI16081706
  12. Mike us old guys have to just accept the fact that all new stuff is junk from light bulbs to truck engines. Everything has been reduced to make it cheaper to maximize profit and now what is produced is junk simple as that. We were talking over coffee the other day what used to be called durable goods are lucky to last five years now and no longer durable. I just bough a pair of flashlight bulbs to replace the seven year old original that just went out they come in a two pack each bulb lasted a week. I stick to the older stuff which can be fixed repeatedly and will outlast the crap made now our money buys less per dollar now and its all JUNK Im done with my rant now but had to get it off my chest.
  13. I did my in frame on the superliner with their kit 1400 bucks which includes a new oil pump have not put any miles on it yet but we use them at work and have not had a problem.
  14. We will be going over to that country club in Geneva next week for an appreciation dinner for the employees where the wife works we go there every spring.
  15. Better buy two that way every other week when one is in the shop you can drive the other that's the way it worked out when we bought a trio of visions years ago.
  16. Thats the one Glen turned over by the tollway it was pretty old and beat up though that's the only one we had go over in the 23 years I was there.
  17. I sold it before I got to run it much I had a guy that wanted it way more than I did by the amount he paid me for it.
  18. It took a lot of modification I had to raise the whole body three inches to make it fit and made a custom adapter plate for the jack shaft.
  19. A few years ago I went and bobbed a military deuce and if that wasn't enough I swapped out the inline six for a V8. I took the 135 HP multi fuel out and fabbed in a 250 HP turbocharged 3208. I had to use a five speed overdrive trans from a five ton to take the 100 plus extra HP so the trans didn't grenade.
  20. I learned what an escutcheon was when I was restoring pre war packards I was always having to hunt them down for my cars.
  21. I bought new handles for mine they get wallowed out from use and vibration over the years but I kept them all now between several parts trucks and replacing these I have a pile of used ones sitting here. I have always found getting the panel with the window regulator and door latch out of the door was the hardest part of the job.
  22. This truck is also up for auction has a blown motor I guess a rod has ventilated the block says its a 1953.
  23. Saw this on the GSA may be a bit rarer then most military fueling tankers being all wheel drive pretty nice shape for being as old as it is.
  24. Push down the spring loaded escutcheon and you will see a pin under the escutcheon at the base of the door handle push the pin out and it will come off.
  25. Those almost look like door panels from a CH I had a pair of grey ones from a 89 superliner but gave them away to put on a truck at work.
