  1. The coyotes start howling and yipping when the freight trains hit the horn coming through a night.
  2. This thing has been one cobbled together mess after another.
  3. Those horns sound like commuter trains this horn is from a freight locomotive I have a u-tube recording of what this sounds like but im not computer literate enough to post it if I could figure it out I would put it up.
  4. I have a 30 gallon tank from an old craftsman compressor I plumb it into the air system so it has a good reserve these Nathan airchimes take way less air than the older leslie horns so a 30 gallon reserve is plenty and 120 pounds of air pressure gives it full volume I believe its spec'd out to be heard for three miles.
  5. It came today like an early Christmas present I sold the last one I had just before restoring my truck and last summer everyone kept asking where is it meaning the locomotive horn I have had in parades for years. I bought this from a friend in south carolina and its as next to new as they get I am planning to polish the bells like aluminum wheels as they are cast aluminum. Saturday I will take it out and see how it sounds we have a woods next door and it echos real nice so you can really hear what it sounds like from the front instead of being behind it by the way that's a 65 pound dog next to it in the pictures so it gives it some perspective as to how big they are.
  6. We pulled the pump yesterday as expected the drive gear was one tooth off the IP had been forced on with the bolts drawing the pump onto the engine pushing the roll pin into the bakelite drive gear one tooth off. I will take some pictures when I bring the gear home from work the moral of this story if your putting the pump back on the engine and it doesn't slide together easily DONT force it together using the mounting bolts to draw it tight.
  7. No it was up for auction I think it was at a hundred dollars last I checked.
  8. My friend is going to pull the pump tomorrow and see if its been installed one tooth off that will let me know what I need to do next.
  9. Inline Robert Bosch pump.
  10. Im going to take all the lines off the pump and my mechanic friend will pull the pump and get it where it belongs he says there is a coupler on the front of the pump with a roll pin locator he says sometimes if it doesn't quite line up the pump will start then stop with 1/4 to 3/8 inch gap then the pump can be forced on by drawing it in with the bolts he has seen that happen before.
  11. We think we may have the problem at least diagnosed looks like they had the pump off at one time but they never took the front inspection plate off (factory seal still intact) so I took it off and saw the timing plate was all the way to one side of the adjustment slots. I loosened the bolts and moved it from one side of the slots to the other still wont start still puts out the white exhaust so my mechanic friend says the dumb asses probably have it in one tooth off. Its like when you put a distributor in a gas engine one tooth off and have to clock the distributor all the way in one direction to get it to run but its just a bit to far off to start and run good. So now Im going to have to take the pump off and try to get everything adjusted right so it runs good enough to get it to a pro so it can be timed the right way its always something but that's what you get when you buy a truck with the top end of the engine already taken apart putting something back together when someone else takes it apart is always a clusterf!!!k.
  12. I finally got the engine all together after getting my injectors back put on fresh fuel filters got the lines all pumping fuel at the injectors and no start will fire on a tiny whiff of ether but will not fire up. The exhaust will pump out clouds of white smoke so its getting fuel my friend who is a mechanic where I work says its probably out of time the valves have all been adjusted so now what. I have no idea how to time this thing in the driveway but that's what we think burnt the pistons up is improper timing but I have no idea where to go next any suggestions would be appreciated not a very happy day here.
  13. One thing to remember about the Hampshire ozinga boys is they will see you pulling a pretty good hill and you have a good head of steam then pull right out in front of you and stop to make a left turn a driveway or two up the road.
  14. It looks like the yellow ford pickup has the same name on the door as the B.
  15. And absolutely nothing for a description like the copart ad either they really don't want to sell it or it has problems.
  16. Heres something you don't see for sale every day cool old school technology.
  17. The union pacific had a number of these gas turbine locomotives built they put out 8500 horsepower they could only be used in rural areas because of the incredible amount of noise they produced.
  18. You know what they say if it looks to good to be true well....
  19. Anyone but me notice how clean that truck was under the hood.
  20. It will be repainted similar to that just different colors.
  21. Im going to search for some this spring I don't mind polishing them myself if I can get them for a good price.
  22. Got some more done on the truck today nothing earthshaking but I did clean up the front wheels so I wont have to do it in the spring and it makes the truck look a little better. I was surprised how well they took to being polished they shined up pretty well and still waiting on injectors the old ones were a mismatched bunch of junk so I bought a set of NOS Robert Bosch injectors now the correct nozzles are being put on them I might be able to fire it up next week.
  23. Another consideration is the fact the truck has 3.70 geared drives Im not much of a mathematician so it may not be compatable there either.
  24. I drove an RB that had a leak down problem hard starting every morning until I noticed there was a tiny wet spot on the return line that goes around the front head after replacing it no more problems.
  25. Thanks Mike I figured you would be the one to answer the question.
