  1. The company I used to work for had a pretty nice CH613 my old boss told me it had just over 600K on it 460 engine, set forward front axle, 11R24.5 low pro tires on steel hub piloted rims, A/C pretty nice truck really he told me they were going to sell it. Found out they had it in the ARI maintenance program so they took the truck under some contractual agreement and it went to copart auto recyclers don't know if it was sold for scrap or auctioned off a damn shame really.
  2. I have loaded many a load of crushed concrete onto Marvin Stringers white R dog pulling that fruehauf same with that BEM truck but I don't remember ever seeing it that dirty.
  3. I have been plugging along taking my parts truck apart now I can see light at the end of the tunnel this is whats left. Im going to put the trans in the shed haven't made up my mind whether Im going to save the axle beam I believe its an 18000 pound version all the rest is going to the scrap yard. Its a shame to scrap the Hendrickson spring hangars they look close to new but I cant keep everything the frame is going to get cut up this weekend I have a title and VIN tag for that frame too.
  4. My RS700L has gold dogs on the hood and mirrors maybe even on the doors before they were replaced all mack drive line with the 237 and five speed.
  5. That white RD was in the diesel shop in Hampshire two weeks ago I see it out that way a lot saw it pulling a lowboy a couple days ago.
  6. I figured they didn't bring the money the bigger V8s do pretty much obsolete.
  7. Im pretty sure I will buy it depending on how it runs and sounds Im selling off the set of tires and other parts I don't really need from my parts truck hoping to make enough to pick it up without going into the bank account for the money.
  8. I have a line on a mack V8 its in a 70s vintage R700 guy says he wants $2500 for it in running condition says I can her it run and check it out before buying good or bad deal? I think its an 865 has the stamped steel valve covers I guess it was a roll over so its been sitting for a while only concern I have is how long did it run when the truck was on its side.
  9. This old guy hasn't the energy to do another set for a while its too much like work.
  10. Wheels are done I did one every couple days the pitting in the centers is pretty bad they will be covered up with beauty rings so that's all taken care of. They turned out to be machined wheels the crap on them was to thick to tell but they are not to bad for junk yard wheels.
  11. I am almost finished disassembling my parts truck I am going to sell the power steering system either whole or part it out any way is fine by me. The truck is a 73 western model the pump is driven off the compressor I have the steering gear, left side steering cylinder, oil reservoir and any other parts if wanted make me an offer.
  12. I may have a center cap around here somewhere but no guarantees the wheel can be made to look like new with a wheel crack repair kit from eastwood for 30 or so dollars.
  13. I have one off my RS its cracked but functional.
  14. Check the harmonic balancer.
  15. Im going to do the first one this week myself I have decided to use beauty rings on the centers so the corrosion no matter how bad in the center wont matter anyways. I am going to sell the tires that were on my parts truck they are virgin rubber and would make great trailer tires that will more than pay for the wheels I have a set of steer tires 80% rubber Im going to sell from the same truck if I can find someone who still runs 24 inch rubber.
  16. I have to see how much get up and go I have left after work I may do one and if its not real bad I may do them myself one every couple days I am planning on switching the rear hubs at the end of next month so time isn't an issue.
  17. I found a guy last week with some aluminum budds style wheels he was willing to sell them to me at a great price so today I went out and picked them up I plan to use them as the outside wheels on the rear. As seen in the pics they will need a good going over I took an hour or so to get all the oil, paint over spray and dirt off them then a light acid to dissolve what I missed and they don't look to bad. They were the inside set so where they bolted to the hub needs to be cleaned up I didn't even attempt to clean the centers yet does anyone have any suggestions what I can get the rust and corrosion off with without making a mess out of it. I have not decided whether Im going to polish them out myself or for 50 dollars a wheel have it done by a place here in town Im probably going to go with the style moon that covers the whole hub and center of the wheel anyways so the corroded centers wont matter.
  18. Plote has them on the road now I saw one going down rt 25 this afternoon going to his asphalt plant behind our yard.
  19. I remember when they bought those old Rs they didn't have any power steering.
  20. Try McMaster-carr or grainger for the rubber strip sometimes they have the same product on ebay in bulk that's where I found the wellnuts for putting my western grille back on my truck.
  21. Looks more like that mixer hit a low viaduct I had a friend who drove for material service in the 80s he did the same thing and when he got back to the yard parked with the flat spot down so he didn't have to hear about it until morning when he told them about it.
  22. I have a pair of western R model battery boxes I will sell from my parts truck I have no tops just the bottoms make me an offer.
  23. If I had the cash I would buy four or five of them and put them in a pole barn as a source of parts for my truck and never have to hunt down another large part until Im to old to worry about it.
  24. It probably has more issues than the buyer thought some people buy these things and think they are just going to drive them home when they go to pick it up reality sets in.
