  1. Probably because Warren Buffett owns the railroads and he is a LARGE contributor to their cause it all comes down to money you hear the politicians demonizing the rich and they are some of the richest in the world they even legalized insider trading for their selves you or me would be put into jail for that.
  2. That stuff comes up on ebay all the time just keep checking the newly listed things under mack trucks or mack emblems every day I guarantee some will show up I see them all the time when Im looking for something.
  3. That place sucked especially winter mornings the sun would melt the frost off the haul road and turn it into grease you would get to the crest of the giant hill and get stuck. I still remember spinning my way to the top getting stuck just before the crest of the hill the compacter backed up to me I got out and pulled the cable off the machine and dropping the pin in my bumper through the loop in the cable as my truck started sliding back down the hill with the brakes on. I never could figure out why there wasn't more wrecks there those transfer drivers would slide all the way down the hill empty and just make the turn before landing in the creek the good old days.
  4. Yeah that's like getting on a narrow scale first sign is all the lugnut covers peeled off laying on the scale.
  5. I have a set of used battery box covers I polished them last fall nothing wrong with them just to many small dents in them. I bought a parts truck a while ago and the box covers are a bit better condition so Im taking the originals off and swapping them don't really know what their worth make offer or possible trade.
  6. Could be a bad injector giving you a fuel knock too.
  7. Live long and prosper was his good bye to friends and he did both.
  8. Gotta love those wheel washes I used to have to take a load to mallard lake once in a while and had to clean up the bottom half of the truck when I got in.
  9. I know someone who just got a ton of these to sell they are 12 volt 295 dollars per set I wonder if their worth it I had these the 24 volt version on my military trucks they were fantastic.
  10. Al go to the vortox air systems site they make the cannisters and maybe the filters too they have the dimentions posted for all the air cleaners on their site.
  11. I have a spare from my truck sitting here Al you can have it because you will need to either fix or buy the cup on the bottom as its rusted out its the one on the RS right now.
  12. Don't know for sure mine was a grain hauler originally built for a freight company in Kansas one of an order of ten all I have seen so far has the extruded aluminum bumper like this one. One spring leaf is looped on each side for pulling like in the pictures in my previous post.
  13. I was looking for a supplier for the cups that go on the bottoms of the vortox air cleaners because every one I have ever seen was rusted away. Mack was of no help but I did hunt down the original manufacturer in California and they do have seven of these in stock pricy $100 dollars each but never the less an OE part I ordered one for my truck today. The sales man has worked there since 1978 and remembered selling that particular air cleaner canister he told me mack had used Donaldson elements for the trucks and were to restrictive so the Hayward plant had started buying them and installing them on their trucks to alleviate the restriction problem. The company is vortox air solutions the sales man is John Hyatt part number 16699A and their number is 909-621-3843 thought this may help someone restoring an old truck as its the original part installed on 70s dry filter macks.
  14. My RS bumper is bolted to the frame too that's why I thought this was kind of strange both trucks being haywards.
  15. I bought a Hayward RL 600 model mack to part out and it has this set up for the front bumper.
  16. Best way of telling the westerns is the spacing of the springs on the front axle beam they are narrower than regular R model frames the Rs frame spread out forward of the cab but at a distance its hard to tell.
  17. Looks like I will be selling the white western steering wheel off the RS the parts truck has an almost perfect wheel on it here is a pic of the one I will be selling the mildew on the center of the wheel has been removed..
  18. Isnt there a tri axle mack R model or two on ebay right now for much less money?
  19. Strip the paint and hit it with some polish and a buffer it will look like chrome at half the weight.
  20. OK thanks I appreciate you checking on it for me.
  21. OK thanks for looking the driver side of the R isn't the same as the others?
  22. Alex do you have any of these laying around for the driver side?
  23. Still have these 75 dollars apiece I will ship them if needed stored indoors out of the weather.
  24. Looks like Chip Foose is stepping up his game.
  25. The rulers of Jordan didn't waste any time doing anything about their pilot being killed but nothing is going to deter terrorists from killing us when our campaigner and chiefs biggest threat is to unfriend them from his face book page.
