  1. That old chevy is a 74 bought it rustfree in Montana 10 miles south of the canadian border got really lucky a truck was coming down from Canada going right through the town it was in got it hauled here for 700 bucks I probably couldn't have drove there for that let alone back again. The exporters were at the auction today too they were buying all the semi tractors I told one guy the truck didn't have power steering he said where the truck was going to be sent he didn't care it was going to be sent to Africa I feel pretty good that I saved it from a slow death.
  2. Waited for a month for this truck to come up for auction sat all day waiting for it to be auctioned off it got down to one guy and me after everyone else dropped off after 6K last guy dropped off at 7700. I have to go tomorrow and drive it home its an hour and a half from here it was a long day good thing was the auction did not have a buyers fee which is pretty rare today. The only things I saw that really need attention was a rear U-bolt was snapped off and the two ears the bumper bolts through were snapped off don't have a clue how Im going to fix that as its cast aluminum. I had some of these pictures posted before but didn't want to let out to much information I paid up for it because it was close and all others I saw were in need of body work or needed a full set of new tires this truck just needs new paint it runs and drives great.
  3. Drove part time for Harry filling in for guys off work on my vacation time while working for Clearwater farms hauled chips to the plant all day or asphalt or just following a grade all loading up broken curb that was quite an operation very impressive.
  4. Since I couldn't copy and paste the link here is some pics it is on the GSA auction site it looks like a nice truck they usually go cheap too it was probably a military jet refueler in its previous life if I was partial to DMs I would buy it myself.

  5. That was my truck had her all chromed up center caps, moons and stainless lugnut covers every morning after I got to the pit the kozak cloth came out and all the dust from the night before came off. Stan bought all the chrome for me because I took good care of the truck fixed all the minor stuff myself those guys wont even change out a burnt out marker light they write them up so the mechanics have to do it. That truck was originally one of our straight trucks It was great has a mack thirteen speed in it hooked to a 350 and locking rear ends has a twenty thousand pound front axle and forty four thousand pound rears so it rode hard that pic must be from just before I put the chrome on it looks like I just got done polishing the front wheels they were chalk white from years of acid washings and concrete dust.
  6. I drove an RB for welch for two years it was always the cleanest best taken care of R model in the gravel fleet until they put me in a loader this year its a shame to see it now I think it may have been washed once this year.
  7. Sold my military truck on ebay in three days now I have money for my mack and some extras.
  8. Well they are in the process of growing the government since the campaigner in chief became president they have to have lots of stupid rules to keep their buddies in enforcement busy to justify a paycheck.
  9. You would be surprised at how light those fruehaufs are we had four steel ones and one aluminum quarter frame at Clearwater farms we used them all the time.
  10. No the red one comes from way south of us I know who the original owner was because its engraved in the center cap of the steering wheel.
  11. I noticed some weird things on some of their trucks some have newer interiors must be recabbed some have the frames painted but the rest is crappy looking slap on some newer parts and get premium money for them.
  12. Don't forget the do gooder democrats that want to tax the farmer for the amount of gas produced by his cows farting.
  13. That's the one I saw they said they would pull the engine and sell it off before they would drop their asking price I have been checking out several nice oil field trucks in texas the shipping may be a deal killer unless I can get a good buck for the winch and headache rack off the back.
  14. Yes that is the one I know you search the truck paper too it was funny there was no pictures in the ad I asked if that was their final price and they said they would pull the engine and get their money out of it that way if they had to.
  15. Keith if they want the truck enough to buy it out from underneath me more power to them I like it and want it but don't need it enough to go to the lengths some do to get what they want.
  16. No pics of the R600 guy said it was in pretty good shape without a fifth wheel well it was rusty and did have a fifth wheel still on it I didn't take any pictures of it though it is black with twin chrome stacks on it. I really didn't spend much time there the place was locked up but the guy told me park on the side of the road and walk in didn't want any hassles with the local law seeing me marching around in there while the place was closed.
  17. Went and checked out a 1970 R600 with a V8 too another hour and a half further away wasn't worth the trip guy wanted 4500 for it but it had a lot of rust turned around and finally got home at 9 PM I started out heading to look at the R700 at 1 PM after working six hours it was a long day.
  18. I figured 8K Im good with that as long as my military deuce sells or it might be a tough sell to get the wife on board.
  19. Didn't really get into price he knows Im interested but dont want to give him the impression Im REALLY interested.
  20. I have been looking for the right truck to buy today I may have found it a RS700L straight five speed I believe it has a 237 under the hood I pulled a lowboy with one just like it in the early eighties. Its a 73 single frame very minimal rust I started it up and it ran like a champ looks like the original interior is intact looks like it had new door gaskets put in sometime recently has 670 thousand miles on it hauling grain owner was very meticulous with maintaining it whats a good ballpark price to pay for a truck like this? The best part its very close to home the first thing that will go is the spoked front wheels and a set of aluminum beds will take their place doesn't have power steering but my old lowboy tractor didn't either..
  21. Wonder if it was always a single axle too.
  22. I spoke to the owner about it he says he doesn't have a title for it and bought it years ago at an auction which does me no good in Illinois no title no license plates.
  23. Not anymore with seemingly unlimited tax dollars and not much oversite they are not afraid to spend big anymore.
  24. Bet that box culvert came from us over at welch brothers.
