I have a 1937 CF 468 flat head engine in a BM truck and the push rod looks similar, runs of a lobe on the distributor drive with the fuel pump located on the opposite side  side of the cyl. block. I haven't had any luck in locating the fuel pump that bolts to the side of the block similar to your picture. I know this is not helping you but any suggestion would be helpful.

My Manual shows the 49 LF used a 510A engine 4 7/16 by 5 1/2 bore and stroke.  Crank pin diameter, 2.9975, rod bearing clearance .001 to .003, rod torque 100 to 105, main bearing journal number 4 and 7, 3.4970, with.002- .0045 clearance, and all others, 3.4975 with.001-.0035 clearance, torque 100-105. I hope this will help. Sure is odd having two main journal dimensions and only .ooo5 difference.  Mack made gas engines during this period from 271 cu.in. to 707 cu.in.

We used an A30 for miscellaneous work on a ranching  business with locations 100 miles apart with a stock rack for 25 years from new. their GVW was a low number but they had an 18,000 timkin double reduction rear axle in single or 2 speed and a fuller 5 speed over or direct. ever thing held up very well. The breaks were not the most forceful so use caution In the hills.

  4. My guess is this is an A50 chassis. You will note that there is a cord for operating the air horns, and a small round air pressure gauge between the speedometer and the gauge panel indicating air breaks which were not available on the A30.. A 40's and a50's came with progressively longer hoods than the A30 to accommodate larger engines including a diesel in the A50 and both were available with 3 axils. The hood and wider fenders appear to me to bee from the larger trucksThe Guide Headlights will not be cheap as they are sought after by hot rods. RT

  5. Don't forget the bureaucracies with all their engineering expertise when crossing political lines. With a 16 wheel trailer that expands to 10 feet we can legal a 93,000

    # load, but cross into Oregon and this buys you nothing. Oregon would require 7 or 8 axils to do the same but a 3 axil lowbed trailer in Ca. is almost just dead weight. Quite often long heavy moves on the west coast involve a reload.

  6. I am restoring a 37 BM open cab Mack starting with the engine. I need parts sources for pistons,valves, guides, and rod inserts. I have two engines to chose parts from so there will be some extra parts left that need a good home outside the scrap bin. One engine was a fire truck engine with a mag drive and Bosch magneto that I will not be using. Would like to here from anyone else working on same.
