  1. There's a lot of different ways to repair this depending how bad it is. Springs ?? well, a spring doesn't need to be broken to be shot. The three on the bottom (mains) can have their round hole worn egg shaped. That's the hole the rubber pad's dowel goes in. If it's worn, spring is junk. The buckets ( end caps the pads go in over time can rot away and don't squish the pads like they should . Then there's the trunion bar. It could be worn the saddles ?? the bronze bushing could be replaced and new thrust washers and seals . That's if they aren' t worn way beyond what they should be. Then there's torque rods that are likely wiped out if the other components are compromised . Then the grand daddy off it all is if the trunion stand (complete assembly containing the bar) needs to be changed. Often it goes along with the bar. In some cases the trunion stand may be rotted and you may not realize until it's inspected by someone who knows where to look. There's an aftermarket trunion stand that saves a ton of work replacing one in a dump truck, but they're not free and are somewhat heavier than the Mack trunion stand. Without seeing it in person ? hard to say how involved you're going to be. IDK if guys are still changing just bars in the 600 series anymore. Used to be an interesting process with dry ice and a pretty robust mobile press.

  3. You sorta need to know what you're looking at to determine how extensive a repair would be needed. There's a lot that can be worn on the suspension and when it's all worn ? then there's lots of movement . Replacing a trunion stand is a huge job on a dump truck, even for a regular spring shop. You need to find a place familiar with Macks who could be honest with you about what needs to be replaced. (lol) lots of guys like to think the rubber pads at the end of the springs cure everything. Maybe a new torque rod too, cause they're the cheapest component.....it's usually not the rubber pads or as simple as a torque rod . Just say'n. Worst case the repair easily reach 5 figures on a dump truck.

  5. How about when guys would put the headlights from an Eldorado or Toranado ( when they were front wheel drive at first ) I remember that too. I like one big round like they're supposed to be
  6. That's someone's R Model toy (lol) Old R with a 673 (?) somebody was quite fond of. Looks to be other Macks in the background , it's easy to get the fever that fella had .

  8. Seriously ?? If our asshole leader hadn't hobbled everything that has to do with fossil fuels this all wouldn't be at the point it is. There as of right now is no replacement for all the energy needed to pull off the recovery we need after these jerkoffs shut our country down .   9. They're taped off before painting. Somebody went way out to do a nice job on it. It's none the less a really clean used truck . It does certainly seem to be in pretty good shape, let alone for the age of it. Nice Granite.
  10. Somebody did a pretty nice job cleaning that up and painting the frame. Personally, I see a few things that tell me it wasn't a basket case before the detail job. That's a pretty nice used truck I'd say.
  11. I upset a couple guys about it too 🤪 but the overhead in one of those can turn into a disaster pretty quick
  12. AMIs aren't exactly good runners (lol) and they can be a problem as they get older. This one seems (to me at least) to be relatively low miles/hours and the truck looks clean and cared for. If you use it like your post suggests , I'd think you'll find worse trucks to pick. By 58,000 I'm assuming you mean gross weight ? There's lots of life left in that truck in the pictures from what I can see. Those engines were internal EGR and in my opinion require an oil change way more often than the book that comes with one said. They have a fickle overhead, but as long as it's been maintained (updates and in adjustment) they have a fairly long serviceable life. Lots of guys complained about them cause they didn't set any records for throttle response. Again, in your situation ? maybe it's more about if the truck is what you need for the job and if the crane is in good working order .
  13. The liner is a little spread in the one picture, but nothing serious. That truck does look pretty clean and looks to have been used right and taken care of. Even with the shortcomings of an AMI ?? for the miles you're talking about putting on it and the general condition from the pictures ? Looks like it should definitely be on the short list of trucks to replace the older one
  14. What state is this truck in ? That's a great looking truck, no doubt.
  15. I can't really see it in the picture, but it almost looks like someone put a parking brake lens (the red part) in that spot. The shutdown light has a little different graphic with an X and an arrow with a circle.... but I think it's just your water level is low.
  16. Don't put just water in it. Even if it costs a couple dollars, you're always better off adding the coolant that belongs in it. Those don't take a lot to make the light come on. You may fill it and be good for a while.
  17. That's the engine shut down light. If it's got oil pressure and not overheating, chech the water level

  22. I'm pretty sure they have O rings and that cover with the fitting screws off... and a piston with an O ring. That bolt in the picture I believe is the cage bolt just screwed in there for when you might need it to lock the sliding clutch into the case in the event you need to remove the axle. You lock it in, cage it then take the axle out (like for towing) Then if I remember right they're disengaged with a spring in there ??? But anyway, seems he has a leaky something (?) under that cover.
  23. There should be two switches. One is the interaxle lockout (power divider) and the other ( in this case ) is for what's often referred to as "full lockers" Probably what ever form of diaphragm ( I think is O rings in these ) is in there (your picture) is leaky. Used to be if you needed to cage them up, you removed the fitting and used a long bolt to engage the sliding clutch into the carrier. 🤔 I don't think you'll need to do that to make this repair. Usually it can't go anywhere with the axle in it.
  24. If I had the ability and talent to make a patch like those ?? I'd be proud if someone saw them. Looks like the fenders are worthy of being with the cab 😍
  25. Primer ? That could easily pass for topcoat in the pictures.
