  1. Looks like a big steer in it too. 20K might not scratch the surface in this day and age. Always a little apprehensive when you see the charge air in the passenger seat.
  2. I like that idea , nice buffer between yourself and people you may not have any history with.
  3. Might take a little while to get it out there, but something like cut'n counterbores ? Seems like a word of mouth thing from someone you did it for is how that gets spread around. Especially if you're willing to go to the customer. I know our guy here never advertised and his name comes up any time someone asks. Maybe if you get friendly with a parts guy or two who can pass the info along to guys buy'n cylinder kits ? Little tricky as they could get in trouble at work, but parts guys that have been around a while .... they know who to share stuff with.
  4. Certainly was a cool truck at one time. Not many MHs like that.

18 was on the left 20 was on the right
  6. If the cams are worn ? Joey gave a accurate description of what's involved with changing the outer cam. Sometimes for a guy without the ability or equipment to do it as Joey said, it's easier just to change the carrier. Remember, if the cams and peanuts are worn that bad , all that metal is floating around in there somewhere.

That one you pulled the shifter to you and pushed it ahead for low was some variation of a T95ALL usually they came behind a Power Torque 270

This is an old Mack transmission. The compound was like the one in the dash of that DM. I didn't know what it was . I don't think Mack main boxes were backwards if they had an overgear. Just the compound I thought

I think that's it. I had no idea what it was (lol) I'd have sworn it had a position where lo split would have been . It was a weird truck. had big cast housings with little bitty axles and some odd rear springs
  13. There's lots of different housings. even the camel back ones are front and rear. Then there's different thickness' in the walls. Different wheel ends. Very easy to get tripped up swapping the 46,000 pound ones around. As far as something out of another truck ? may be as simple as a quarter inch shim on each side to make up for the skinnier r600 frame.

I remember once seeing an early DM It didn't have any dash pattern. It had a 673 and what as best I could tell was a quadraplex. I remember the compound was backwards if you tried to drive it ??? It looked about the size of something from a pickup truck , now I'm wondering if that's what it was .
  15. The original was between the bearings. That new picture is at the housing

That looks like one of those from something with a gas engine.
  17. Looks like the axle surgeon replaced the spindle.

That's worse than that. What a terrible mess
  19. IDK about prone to quitting, but if it had compromised fuel in it in -10 degree weather, I've seen them puke after trying to get them to run
  20. Sounds like it needs a new fuel pump.
  21. Louis needs a hug or something.
  22. I have little idea other than you may want to look into one of those inflatable donuts they use for sit'n on when you have hemorrhoids
  23. I once had the axle surgeon here, changed a spindle on a 462 (which turns out you're not supposed to) and he asked if I minded if he took the broken one . Said he could use it cause the threads were good and it didn't have bearing issues. Must be they do stuff like that. I have a like new 46,000 pound housing (seriously, it's not even stained from a carrier) air ride that takes the 6 bolt axles. I'd take a grand for it.
  24. It looks great. Depth like it's cleared .
