  1. barry, thats the same responce i got when i put one of those on the counter. i eliminated one like it on my b-67 years ago. donna if there is no hose that goes to the barb end and you can trace the other two lines to there origin maybe we can be more sure of what to do with it. scott
  2. this is an R-model dump pulling tip-turbin air from under the hood and he doesn't have a problem. your truck looks great, i wish i was that far along. scott

  6. does anyone know the dimensions of the cooler for the big allison? how are they behind a maxidyne motor? i have a good 300 and a 6 speed planned for my 6 wheel dump, but an automatic seems like an easier installation. i've seen fire trucks listed for sale as late as 1989 with e-6 350 two valves, engine mount cooler and tip turbine, does that sound right or a misprint? scott

I forgot to mention... i have to ditto that , and if my significant other had any idea of the money i was spending she'd likely have me committed. where did you get the top radiator hose? #'s??? i went with a cable throttle, not crazy about it but it's done. sounds like you'll be "tooling down the road" way ahead of me. i wouldn't worry about the q-box, one of the locals has an old DM tri axel with a 300+ and a q-box, he's been running the truck for 15 years and many 20+ ton loads later. i'm sure if it gave him too much grief it would have been changed long ago. the torque figures look awful and plenty of them have come apart, but a little TLC and you shouldn't have any trouble. keep up the good work. scott
  8. under the scoop should be filter and duct that feeds air to the tip turbine. if you happen to run across a junker with that set-up i want it for my next project. scott
  9. tim ,o&g still has some B's working, but this one belonged to aborio const. out of cromwell conn. someone is pulling a trailer dump on I-95 in the milford bridgeport area with a red B-61 with black fenders. matt phal uses his for his restoration business all the time. bob dennis from litchfield makes his living dragging a 50 ton detachable with his blue and white B-81, moving heavy equiptment. his buddy tom messenger teams up with him part time with his maroon B-61. first time i saw matt's B-61 i was hooked with the restoration bug it'an obsession. these guys have suffered through my dumb questions and have no idea how much i appreciated the information i got from them. scott try to post my dump with 20 ton trailer and 120 mitzy
  10. i'll try and attach a picture of mine with the excavator behind it. saw a B-81 on the road today in no. branford conn. rt.80 widening job.
  11. thad i've been fooling with this stuff for a little while now and i'm still a little hazy about years and applications. the easiest way for me to spot a 2-valve motor is by the stamped steel valve covers. E-6 4-valve motors have cast aluminum covers. yes they fit in B's with the engine mount air coolers. scott

  16. tim, i've been screwing with a homemade mechanical throttle linkage and i didn't like any of my concoctions. looking at throttle cables now. teleflex morse and lokar are two i've looked into. scott
  17. i finally got my cab back on the chassis. it's taking me forever to finish this truck. i underestimated this project the whole way, especialy the time and money. 1963 B-61SX E-6 350 2-valve,Q-box, and 44,000 # camel backs. still a long way from done,hoping for next summer. scott
  18. to keep it simple i would use the flywheel,clutch, and pressure plate off the 711. q-box will bolt to original position and you can use the original clutch linkage. i'm taking for granted this is a single disc clutch. scott
  19. dump trucks here in the north east are notorious for rust between the frame rails that eventually spreads the rails so far they crack at the bend of the flange length wise. cracked and broken cross members,broken springs and worn out suspension can all await you beneath 39 years of crud. i found out the hard way and bought the truck before i found all its flaws. when i removed the dump body and sub frame i was sick to see how bad the chassis was on my B-61sx, all three top flanges were worn and cracked to the trunion support. restoring a truck that size is a HUGE and EXPENSIVE project no matter how you look at it. just a couple of things to think about before you open your wallet. good luck scott
