  1. Be glad you guys were able to buy some classy machinery new like that. I most likely won't be able to and don't want to buy anything new nowadays... It'll all be 'new to me' but not new.
  2. A 1/4 frame 22-24' steel dump trailer with a 2-way gate or high lift gate. I wouldn't be afraid of air-ride though, so long as you can dump the suspension when you unload. Personally, I'd take the air-ride...I don't think at 22' they're any more unstable than center point spring. I bought a trailer with air ride a year ago and my back loves me for it.
  3. I guess I'm fortunate (maybe spoiled) to have a good service center at the truck stop nearby. They're 24/7 and are more than willing to do about anything except overhaul a motor. They're on par with everyone else around here price-wise. The 24 hour thing sold me on it though. We've dealt with the 9-5 tire shops and have gotten fed up, much for the same reasons as you state...PLUS the one guy getting pissed off when my brother called for a blowout on the highway 5 miles from his shop at 3:55 in the afternoon, closing time you know. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut...most of the time I'll have them change the tires. If it's a flat or one or two tires to change then I'll do it but I usually buy all 8 drive or trailer tires at once (who the f wants to do that at one time). I'll keep the good one or two tires for spares, they buy the remaining casings for usually $50-75/tire so that takes care of the mount/dismount and disposal (they don't like tire fires anymore).
  4. Haha. Speaking of that, my dad called me earlier this evening asking me..."what the hell is that on your truck in that picture?!.."
  5. You know what's really fun, watching the tire guys seat tires like these using ether...a LOT of ether.
  6. At my local dealer, I give props to the one parts guy at N. IL Mack. The rest you can have. Maybe I look at it from the wrong angle, but it seems as though dealers anymore will bend over backwards for fleets and what not, but the one man band like myself gets kicked to the side. With that, I've learned to do as much work as I can by myself, my dad has been a good mentor and a lot of help as well. There are several good independant shops in the area but they have higher labor rates than Mack does. I think when it comes time to replace my truck, I'd only buy privately.
  7. What's a Quade box...? And if you've been driving for 30+ years, then you indeed have been in a truck longer than I've been alive. I'll be 30 in sept.
  8. I tried the intake louver thing and it doesn't make any difference backwards or forward. It looks better backwards however.
  9. Ahh...I wasn't going to trade for anything. I'd take it in the shorts trading. At least my doesn't have Peterbilt wheels on it...!!! Also, I didn't think of this last night due to a slight inebriation, give me some credit for not coming to a Mack board soliciting opinions on a different brand...
  10. Have it hold its breath and hang upside down for 30 seconds...usually works for me... Anyway, maybe try taking that 9-pin plug apart (unscrew approx. 1/4 turn and pull apart) on the back side of the injection pump and blow it out good with an air gun and reconnect.
  11. Bout time you talked down on Freightliner on a Mack message board.
  12. You forgot 'drive like a total douche bag'.
  13. I'll throw it out there, I appreciate a nice ride. It makes for a long week bouncing around in some piece of shit vs. a nice riding truck. Going from a spring ride trailer to an air ride for me last year iced the cake...sprinkle in some ice cold a/c and it's a good day.
  14. They love that almost as much as giving out free advice.
  15. Volvo, Freightliner and International..........that'd be like Obamama, Sarah Palin and Al Gore all running for president at the same time, they're all crap.
  16. Do you band-aid and replace part later or fix it fix it with the tape?
  17. It must be nice to drive a gov't vehicle...you can do pretty much whatever the hell you want (except let your kid drive it while plastered...). I see cars with 'official' plates blastin by me allll the time. I followed a county sheriff paddy wagon one time down the interestate at 100mph.
  18. I prefer to remain 'off the grid'. I hear from enough people about what other people are doing and posting on their facebooks. Highschool classmates have told me they've had to jump through hoops to try to get in touch with me because I don't have any of that crap...I say 'ha ha'.
  19. Counter-sue and stuff it in his ass! There was a case of that around here quite a while ago...load time on paperwork vs. time of wreck 'proved' he was speeding by 2mph therefore shouldn't have been in the intersection when dumbass in the car barreled through the stop sign.
  20. Yer not foolin me... And never in a million years would I put my phone number on the door. Sumbitch! I see the www.http:///whatever for your photo is myspace. Am I the lone holdout on the social networking bullshit or what?
  21. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiicely done...
  22. Prevailing wage state IL is you know. Teamster cards (not your DL), checking the drivers at the gate of the quarry or on the job...my name is on the side of the truck but I don't make the effort to yellow it out when I post pix on here....
  23. Haha...yea I got 'checked' the other day out there. Guy says...'...thats a good Daego(sp?) name you got there, but get wheelin...you know who we're lookin for'.
  24. Took this pic on the second load today, climbing a hill at 15 or so mph. On the first load the boost gauge was wrapped around to 35...but I didn't think to grab a pic, I about pooped my pants when I saw it.......I'm excited, she goes now...!
  25. I can't do the Droid, I've got AT&T.
