  1. We bought a used Deere 510D backhoe a year ago...best equipment purchase (on the farm anyway) that's been made in a long time. Bought for many of the same reasons you stated...local Deere heavy equipment dealer is good and family friend is a mechanic for RSC and highly recommended it also.
  2. Not to hijack...but that '04 Vision the dealer was trying to sell me...got a flier in the mail today and the asking price dropped $7,000 from when I went to look at it. "That's as low as they'll let me go kid"...was what I heard before...bullshit.
  3. Unfortunately, no matter how much grease you put into it...it's only as good as how much the previous owner used. I learned that when I bought my ancient unit a couple years ago...and not the good way either.
  4. What...new president heading there? Speaking of tools...the wife/hooker beating democratic nominee for Lt. Gov in IL just stepped out of the race. Hope this all but dooms the Dem's chances in November. They should've thrown Lisa Madigan into the mix if they wanted any chance.
  5. How much snow did you end up with? We've got 4 to 6"+ on the way for monday I guess...yay.
  6. Bam...Pedigreed. Done.
  7. Since my Mack takes sooo many filters, can't go wrong w/the filter kit from Mack...otherwise we order from WIX and get a bunch shipped and stocked up for whatever we've got. Easy as pie.
  8. There's some dough to be made in the heavy equipment end and also on the agriculture too.
  9. Damn that's too funny...and TRUE! I think the only agriculture they could rely on is growing pot and bananas.
  10. I like WIX...anything but Fram really.
  11. Anyone can work on one, but not everyone can make one work... What school are you looking at? My brother went to ICC in Peoria, IL. Couple friends have gone to Nashville, TN and Chicago...those two being the same school, if I remember right.
  12. Crap, I didn't notice that. My bad. I shall keep my eyes peeled however.
  13. I recall a while back you were looking for one of these...thought you might be interested. Located in northeast MO. http://agtalkplus.com/?q=node/2162
  14. Isn't that a treat? Who gets the ticket then? There have been times where I've gotten loaded and never knew exactly what I've weighed...hauling asphalt grindings for example. You know you're overweight but most of the time there's no scale available. That's half the reason I bought the short dump I have...half-round 23'...less volume. Guys on the same job with 24-28' trailers with 60" sides get filled to the max...wayyyy overweight.
  15. I bet he posthumously(can't spell it) received a ticket for a brake being out of adjustment. And I bet she was texting while updating her facebook while applying make-up while giving her male companion a hand job.
  16. You're going to get bombarded by the camel-back nazi's... And my experience with end-loaders with scales...it's the operator at fault most of the time. They're WAY too lazy to use them the right way...and most are assholes to begin with. We've got an auger cart with a scale on it and use it only in the fall during harvest...every time we hook it up prior to harvest, it's dead nuts on.
  17. I need a little more education in 'theory' but I have a fairly good grasp on it. Where I run into trouble though, is diagnosing...starting out with new or replacing everything with new is relatively easy.
  18. A jobs a jobs a jobs a job. Find something to pay the bills. How about a trade union? Go to school and be an electrician or something. I've been playing around wiring/re-wiring things and am finding it to be pretty neat...maybe 'cause I haven't shocked myself yet.
  19. Bring some good 'reading' material if you're going to be hauling grain...doesn't get much more gravy really. I've been searching for a good used hopper bottom...not an easy thing to find.
  20. Pretty hokey isn't it? You will probably be doing less with your truck than the average senior citizen does with their motorhome. Yet they don't have to have more than a simple driver's license...no log books, no IFTA, no USDOT/ICC #'s, no CDL, no medical card...which I'm sure they wouldn't be able to get with oxygen hooked to their noses. Pisses me the f*%k off. I wish you luck.
  21. Or maybe workin it...
  22. Been pretty quiet since you've reached your higher social status...all hoitey-toitey and what not.
  23. It'll all melt in a couple days, why bother? Weather guy says we've had not even HALF the snow we got last year. It's just been COLD.... Can't wait till summer.
  24. AND...if you find yourself bored with it, give me a call
  25. Looking at your picture, you got your new truck? How's it so far?
