  1. Maybe it was pissed off 'cause it's so cold...?
  2. Sheeeee-it...you call that snow??? But at least you weren't texting while you were driving!
  3. Lemme guess...you guys use coozies to keep your beer from freezing rather than to keep it cold..?
  4. Haha...I've got a 5 year old daughter and a 20 month old son. It's funny how OPPOSITE kids can be when they're squeezed out of the same place. Boy is quiet and completely content...girl is opposite. lol
  5. I've got the weatherbug thing on my computer...says -5 right now and has -5 for a low tomorrow night also... I got my gas bill the other day (!)...thought gas was supposed to be lower priced this year..??? Now its down to -7...
  6. Dammit...that's good...must be pert-near hell freezing over huh?
  7. Well...I know a guy who's burnt up: a house, a shop, a tractor, 2 pickup trucks, and a combine...collected the insurance on all of it and came away smelling like roses. So...I thought I saw you were looking for a part-time driver...
  8. Accidents happen that way...
  9. Just about anything works really, as long as there's something in it. At the truckstop and from the company that brings it out to me, it's treated to work down to -10...I put it in just because, but that shit's expensive...$17 for a 2-quart bottle which will get me about 3 tanks worth.
  10. My pockets aren't deep enough for Michelin rubber. I can't tell you the last time I had my truck up to 75...now that IL FINALLY raised the truck limit to 65, I'm pretty content with it and especially since there's been some impressive potholes open up as of late...
  11. I don't know if you're familiar with them or not, but yesterday I saw at the Stewart Ag farm along rt. 71 north of 52 they had a couple long dumps in the air getting picked at by an excavator...not my cup 'o tea. I've been hauling some salt and once in a while, fertilizer...bye bye what little paint I had left on the frame...
  12. I bought the Geo a while back as a beat around car for $350. When I saw the ad in the paper I was hoping 2-door hatchback but instead its a 4-door. I live in town and have to drive out to the farm for my truck everyday...a whopping 2 1/2 miles one way. So I thought I'd get that car to save on gas and on my pickup. My 5 year old daughter calls it the "beater car" and I told her it's going to be her first car. The truck has 285/75/16 BFG All-Terrains...probably one of the best all around tires I've had. I just bought 8 BFG drive tires for the big truck a couple months back...nice tire also.
  13. I love the pickup 'cause it'll go anywhere in the snow. But what's more fun is my Geo...with front wheel drive and the e-brake on the console I can get some speed goin, yank up on the e-brake and gas it and do some wicked donuts.
  14. I'd say it's a bit high priced, but without seeing pictures who knows. Makes me think mine is worth about $22-24k. If you're looking, mine's for sale!
  15. Bah...it's not even cold down there. One of the guys I was running with yesterday has a K-whopper and had to stop to do a quick filter replacement. Knock on wood, I've been pretty fortunate.
  16. I love driving my pickup in the snow, just not the big truk. Most of the time I'll look for an excuse to go for a ride when it's snowing...I feel invinsible in my Chevy... But the cold...you can have it. I'd probably like snow if it would fall when it was 80 degrees.
  17. Haha...they say "climate change" is producing more of the weather extremes that we've been allegedly seeing...more extreme droughts/floods...colder cold snaps, hotter heat waves...bla bla bla. Some place hot and humid year round is where I want to be...
  18. It's been ass cold the past week here too and worse by the weekend. 4-8"+ of snow starting tomorrow (wed) night, with wind following. Yay. I might just leave the truck parked on thursday, stay home and watch it snow. I've been driving truck for 10 years now and I still hate (loathe, despise, etc) driving a big truck in the winter as much now as I did on day one. I stocked up on fuel additive, alcohol (the drinking kind and air line kind) and long undies... I just read an article about how this winter is shaping up to be the coldest in 25 years, if not 40. Luckily I've got access to a backhoe with cab/heat to plow the driveway and whatnot.
  19. My comment on buying that '04 was tongue in cheek... I'm not buying nor even considering it.
  20. So what did you come up with? And also, so I don't have to post on two topics, how'd the 'lectric tarp deal work out?
  21. Don't the Chinese have trouble enunciating certain letters in the English language...?? Maybe that's where the mix-up occured.
  22. Maybe I'll go buy that '04 and just do that... I tried one of those "power" boxes on my '97...didn't notice a damn bit of difference. I was thinking about doing like that Discount Tire commercial and throwing it back through the front window... There's no replacement for displacement.
  23. Are you trying to do something like this...?? It'll be the 3rd picture... http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=2151006
  24. '09 wasn't near as disastrous as I was thinking it would be 12 months ago. Didn't get rich -yet-, but as most of the previous posters, significantly lower input costs made for a better net. My bread and butter is with the construction industry, bet it government projects or private. Since most of this stimulus garbage has run its course and not many people are building....I wonder for next, well this year...
  25. I wonder if there are two (maybe more) ways to run a side-dump...the first being with a typical wet-kit in that the dump controls are on the trailer itself and the other where you are set up to have pressure through both lines from the truck. I would bet that if you have your own truck and assume many others do with the same company, also in the name of simplicity...your company would have it set up the simplest way to run it with a typical two line wet kit. Personally I have no experience with a side dump trailer, so take it with a grain of salt. But I've never heard anything good about a filter in-line on your wet kit and don't have one on mine. Just change the oil once in a while. I use used hydraulic oil out of our farm machinery...once there's enough in the barrel I'll drain mine and refill.
