  1. I grease mine every two weeks, more or less depending on use. What they don't teach you in sex-ed...lubrication lubrication lubrication... Fortunately we've got a shed in which to park the trucks, though it's not heated. The shop has heat but only about 40' of 80'. As to the second part of that statement...I dunno...
  2. Phoenix is a lot lower than that...1,117'. (wikipedia) I wonder if it being a "dry" heat out thataway might alleviate the problem some. When it's sticky hot humid here, my truck struggles a bit more to stay cool vs. when it's just hot. I lived out there for a bit over 4 years, but up in Pinetop-Lakeside which is about 2.5 hours northeast of Phoenix and 7000+' elevation. Great skiing about 20 minutes away. But when we'd go down to the "valley", my car would run 10 times better and I felt as if I could sprint 20 miles with no problem.
  3. Gotta live it up if you're in college. I think it's just as much the parents' fault as the kids when it comes to wasting money. If they'd pay attention to their kids instead of just warehousing them for 4 years it might be different. I've found that if I eat a decent breakfast before I go to bed after a night of drinking that I wake up feeling like a million bucks. If I don't eat, bad bad day afterwards... ...And "two and a half men"...awesome show.
  4. Hey! Don't forget Rowdy and I have all Mack fleets!
  5. I wouldn't mind me some Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas for New Year's...
  6. I'm gonna stick to my guns on that one...though, I'd prefer Kenworth over a Pete. The Peterbilt comment was for that one guy who drives one and gets picked on for it.
  7. I test drove that truck today, just drove it around the block and down the highway a few miles. Nice ride, but didn't like how it ran. I know it's different, but yea...definately no deal. Weird letting off the gas and there still being 20lbs of boost 5 seconds after. Time to find a Peterbilt with an N14.
  8. What do you call 'decent'? Is a steel floor a must or would you settle for wood?
  9. They said they'd eat half the cost of the Jake install. Anyway...I'm not planning on buying it...especially at the price out the door he quoted me...$39,500. I don't plan on trading either, regardless of what/where I buy. It's been a while since I've seen the pot stirred such as it has with this topic...haha.
  10. Ahh...jokes aside, where'd they score that thing? I'm on some different detail truckin now and I could REALLY use some good direction finders...cruisin the 'burbs nowadays. Today I used the AT&T navigator (and GPS in general) on my phone for the first time. Although neat, it's more in tune with a Prius driver not a truck driver. Felt big brother-ish...since 'it' knew where I was at all times.
  11. Ha...now the salesman won't leave me alone. Practically begging me to demo the truck. Said it'll cost around $6k to put a Jake on it...since the motor was spec'd to not have one, the cam and related valve train needs to be swapped out to install Jacobs Jake Brake (not "power leash"...what's the difference between the 2?). They'd split the cost allegedly. I don't know. Bit hard to swallow, price-wise.
  12. I bet you said that when you hit puberty too...
  13. Perrrty fancy there...
  14. I hope this is only in the land of fruits & nuts... Otherwise I know when I'll be sellin out...! Btw...that is a sharp looking blue unit...
  15. Nothing for me. My side of the family is pretty light with the gifts...gift cards, cash...get together for the sake of getting together. In-laws...sent us home yesterday with our Grand Cherokee stuffed full, barely enough room for kids to make the ride home.
  16. I'll have to agree with the frameless 39' and the 1/4 frame. I pull around a 23' 1/4 frame and wouldn't trade it for any other type of short trailer. When I'm paving (mainly) and other types of work, they'll call for the 1/4 frames on the super elevated curves and any other off camber work and make the guys with frame trailers sit. I don't think I'd ever touch a looong frame trailer. When it goes over it'll take the truck. Frameless goes, just the trailer goes.
  17. The truck in the picture is indeed mine. I spose I'll run it 'till the wheels fall off. I can't believe no one has one good thing to say about that series of Macks. lol Tell you where I really f&(^&d up...early september I stumbled across a 2000 CH 460hp...242k mi...almost mint condition...for $35,000...bit too high for me to go for it but in retrospect it was a buy.
  18. I wouldn't mind re-powering the truck I've got now with an E-Tech (98-01 vintage..?)...but I don't know if I'd be ballzy enough to swap motors like that. I'm sure the electronics aren't very compatible either.
  19. That said it all right there.
  20. Bah...I went and looked at the truck, without salesman present. The doors were unlocked and just did a quick look through...freezing rain and 40mph wind sucks balls. Very, very nice looking truck, but no engine brake. Otherwise the truck is set up well. I'd have to say I'm pretty much talked out of it anyway. The ultimate engine of choice for me would be a 525hp N14...simple raw power...but I digress, those are hard to find too.
  21. Well...that's the pickle I'm in. It's not paid off yet...I've got a tad over 2 years left and I'm well on the backside of what it'd sell for versus what I owe. A neighbor farmer is pretty interested in my truck. If I were to sell, I'd like to sell while it's still worth something. It's a couple thousand short of 700k on the odo...major work in the forseeable future. In my mind I can justify a newer truck with about the same payment versus an overhaul in the current one and whatever else it might need.
  22. Someone gave me an actual train horn a while back, but only one of 3 bells worked. I took it apart and tried cleaning and re-sealing everything...and upon trying it out I 'bout blew my ears out. Not one of my brighter moments...but no harm done. I couldn't get more than one to work, so I ended up scrapping it as I didn't know where to get parts at the time.
  23. I'd rather be laying pipe than be hauling it...
  24. Joking.
  25. Just put a train horn on your truck and honk back.
