Joe is still alive and doing well at 98. I visited him this past spring in Honolulu where he lives. Joe wrecked the H model in the early 70's and he had always thought he would change the cab some day. In fact he purchased a cab that was still in the crate to do so but he never got around to it. When I bought the truck he told me the dealer that had the cab but by then the dealer was out of business and who knows what happended to the cab. The cab is in really bad shape but we decided to save it. Joe is well aware of the work that is being done to the truck and approves of it. The 1693 modification was well done. The original dog house is raised up about a foot and there is no passenger seat now. Here is a picture of my son Adlar and I with Joe this past spring. Joe did well for himself and now lives in a condo overlooking the pacific ocean in Honolulu.

There appears to be 2 different bumper options on the Superliners from the factory. Was there a reason or just option?

Mike, I dont think many got scrapped. Mary had an executor who was a friend and gave her instructions to sell the trucks to people who wanted them. we were all treated real fair. it was not a fire sale. There was also a shed load of old cars and trailers of parts. Pictures from inside her old office. picture has a date stamp over a pic of Mary and her husband. in the left corner.

I took two, a couple other good Mack guys from the local area got about 3-4. Dennis from NJ took 3-4, and then a few have showed up in the N cal area for sale.

It is! a B755. I bought it and the R 719 that I am currently restoring with the twin tubo 864 V8.

This stripped down H-633 was a one owner truck in the Stockton, CA area and pulled doubles into the late 70's. I bought it as it sits from the original owner a few years back with the idea the cab could be used to replace the one on the Mustang Mack. It came with a big crate of parts too. The story I got from the guy is that when he parked it to start driving a new truck it was in great shape. He was on the road for about a month and when he got home this is how he found it. His son and buddies decided they were going to perform a frame off restoration and stripped it down. What a shame. Anyways the old Mustang cab was really getting bad and was loaded with bondo. But after a lot of head scratching we decided to strip it down and redo the same cab.

Mark..........now that was funny!! Laughing my ass off and the wife asks what so funny.............hard to explain the humor! Of course it does explain situations i have been in before restoring an old Mack.

Jim you are correct and it is cast. Just a thought that Mack might have used the same part elsewhere. I can patch this one up if i have too., thanks

This is the exhaust elbow out of the turbo on the 864 I am working on. Most likely Mack used the same part on the 6 cylinders? I dont have any engines with the exhasut end at the turbo to know. any help would be appreciated.

That trailer manufacturer sure had the market tied up!!

Thanks for the help so far! Mike, I am ashamed to say that I ................bought them both!!! Thanks for your help in locating these for me. They have been at the Madiosn Mack dealer getting minor things done on them. I am getting the 85 decked on the 88 for the drive back sometime next week or two. I cannot believe the horsepower the 88 is putting out. On the dyno it pegged it out at 1100HP??? the 88 motor was built by Steve and Antrim Diesel a few years back.

I recently purchased a Superliner with and E-9 and was told that a Steve Trevitz provided the turbo, pump, and injectors. I searched his name and there was an old post from 06 that mentioned him too but no contact. Anyone have info for contacting him? Also is there a person or company that is the go to for information on the E-9? I have a friend with the EC-9 or California version and he was wanting to find out what differences there were and timing options. Someone once mentioned a guy in Ohio too?

I have wondered about the straight column in a few L cab B755's out there but the 3L cab B755's I have are with the bent column. The B cab in the 70 series also have the recessed floors in them. They were advertised as the Great Western series.

I pulled into a truck show and an old boy was standing there waiting for me to jump out. When I did he leaned inside and saw the 3 sticks and just let out a big ahhh. He said to me now that was the set up I had when I was young and driving an LT. He said you could catch a 150rpm split and that was enough to get around your buddy in a 2 stick. He did say the only problem was that everyone once in awhile you would forget where you were at and have to start all over again!. I told him that while I was registering he could jump up and move the truck around to the show grounds. when he got up in the seat and took a hold of the wheel he just looked out the windshield and let out a big old breath.........

Now here.... is the "real deal"!! As my son would say.......if a real truck has 2 sticks then what do you call one with 3?.......a whole other story.

From the interior picture it appears this B755 has the straight steering column. I have seen both the straight ones like the LT and the u joint which puts the steering wheel flatter and away from you. Why did B755's come both ways? Never seen this in any other L cab B's.

I have 3 B755 and all were repowered with Cummins in line 6's. The old 864's gave some folks fits and it was very common out west to simply replace them with a Cummins. The 70 series accomodated the Cummins quite easily. For show though I like having the V8 power back in them. Not a bad price if the cab is not rusted out. And like one ol driver told me. the 3 sticks were sure handy and gave you that 150rpm split to get around your buddy on a long pull..............but you could forget where you were sometimes and have to start all over again.
