  1. That should not be too hard to find. Put an ad in the classifieds on this site and post a picture of what you need. I think I might have one out behind the shed, but the cost to get it to you would be silly.
  2. As 57BCR says that is an almost impossible part to find and if you do find one it will be pricey. I have seen them advertised for $2000.00 plus. Kind of makes me wonder why some enterprising soul with access to a laser and a mill doesn't reproduce them out of stainless.
  3. If all else fails you can get the shop drawing of the part from the museum and have it made.
  4. Most of the time you cannot really see that it is open in a mirror, that's why we went to the orange flags. I think every station in the universe has had a bay door wiped out at one time or another. We tried sensors, lights, sirens, you name it and we still took doors out. At least in the days of back step riders they could push the signal buzzer to let the driver know he/she should stop. We once had a Sutphen mid-mount tower turn too sharply coming out of quarters and the bucket tore the front of the station off. That was creative!
  5. Send the chassis number to the Mack museum along with a suitable donation and they will send you the history of the truck, any delivery pics they have, and an owners/operator's manual. That will include all capacities.
  6. Ouch! We had the same thing happen at one of our stations when "upswing" cabinet doors first became popular. Fortunately it just wiped put the column and the rest of the bay stayed in place. After that we placed bright orange flags on the door's interior that hung down when the door was open so the driver could see them in the mirror. It really amazed me that one horizontal door was able to cause so much damage.
  7. Try Treadwells in NY or Carolina Carb. in Wilmington, NC.
  8. Perfect to get the driveway done on a hurry.
  9. I always have an atlas in the car so the nagivator, aka the DW, will have something to keep busy with while I go where I was going to go anyways.
  10. I knew it was quite low for the total production run.
  11. The only drawback to the winch would be that you will have to manually angle the blade when you want to change from right to left or to straight. Being able to hydraulically angle the blade makes you much more productive. The downside to electric/hydraulics is they are amperage hogs. You may need to add a second battery or replace the generator with a higher amperage alternator.
  12. They are a for hire carrier. At least one of these is somewhat hybrid; Fastenal will move freight for you if you bring it to one of their stores and pick it up from their stores. Great rates and service as well.
  13. Does it have hydraulics? If not an older Myers E-47 pump setup would work.
  14. John Statts, aka Firemack. That is his MH in the pictures, ex. Smith tractor.
  15. As Vlad said that is most likely a bad ground. Try connecting a ground lead from the light directly to the battery and see what happens. (I use a trailer wiring harness as a set of test leads; they are long enough to go from front to rear on most vehicles and color coded so you can test multiple circuits.)
  16. Here's hoping your feeling better soon. Another vote for Chrome. My computer doesn't like this site on internet explorer either.
  17. While in pump gear only? I stand corrected. Thanks. But I'm always very skeptical of what a sales person presents to the troops. They tend to be experts at telling them want they want to hear and then denying it when the actual rig turns out quite different. "Oh, yeah, a 30 hp VW engine will make this thing go from zero to 60 in five seconds." "What do you mean it won't go above 5 mph? I never promised you it would do better." It definitely was not that way on the first and second generation of ECU rigs. We had several that went into limp mode while responding.
  18. I think there were six open cab CF's built. I know the one owned by Newton, MA was later made into a closed cab. One of our club members, Chris Oliphant, has the one out of Cumberland, MD.
  19. Mr. LeMay made his money buying and selling government surplus and scrap. The museum is quite a take in. The building is basically a parking garage that allows a visitor to walk up the ramps on one side of the building and then back down the other side. Very neat and eclectic collection of cars and trucks.
  20. Depending on where you take it you might be able to get it back in a couple of days. I buff my stuff before I take it in and the plater usually gets it back to me in three days or less. I use Hanlons in Richmond, VA.
  21. A direct quote from Massasoit after he saw the Mayflower in Cape Cod bay. Didn't work for him and it wouldn't work for us.
  22. Also collector owned in MI if I recall correctly. I cannot recall the owner's name. Picture taken at 2012 SPAAMFAA National in Frankenmuth, MI.
  23. If you go back to the auction company's home page there are several auctions coming up that include several Macks.
  24. I'd ask the person who worked with the US military for years in Iraq who was denied entry and sent back to Iraq. I'm sure the enemies he helped fight with the US were very anxious to provide a welcome home to him and his family. Or maybe the legal immigrant who had lived here for years and was denied re-entry after a family visit so she could see her dying son. Trump ran as an outsider who will change the way we do everything. That's fine, but more often than not a certain way of doing things has developed because it works. When you arbitrarily change the system you will probably have to pay the price. In this case we will all have to pay because we will end up with a less robust intelligence system due to folks being afraid they will be betrayed by the US after they served us.
  25. Simple solutions to complex problems rarely work. For most of us the law of unintended consequences means we have to fix something that only affects us or a few others, when the President acts without foreseeing the consequences we all pay the price. Ego got him elected and ego will ultimately be his undoing.
