  1. They were doing a repair to the sign for the I-83 merge. And yes I left both black and brown skid marks. I'd love to say it was my great driving, but in all honesty the other driver saved my bacon. Starting next year I am taking 222 to York and then across to Gettysburg to 15. No more I-81 hex for me. It was a CCC truck, Crete Carriers, not CCC out of Auburndale, FL. I wish that I had not been so rattled that I could have gotten the trailer number.
  2. A whole new application for the tiny house crowd.
  3. Made it home and everything is back where it belongs, but I almost met my maker again on I-81 in almost the same spot as I had my misfortune coming home from Trucktoberfest. I was following an 18 wheeler when we topped the hill just before the I-83 merge and all traffic had stopped. He jammed the brakes on and dove over into the shoulder lane which gave me enough room to slide to a stop without hitting anything. If he wasn't such a good driver I would have hit him while going a pretty good clip. I thought it was a CCC Trucking rig, but the truck was red and all of theirs are white so I'm probably wrong. The only clue I have about the driver is I had noticed his name on the door with a 2.5 million mile safe driving award. Thank you whoever you are.
  4. I love Olsons; they are great to deal with, etc., but they are pricey. That is why I always exhaust all of the other vendors before I go to them. This is a very common engine and it would surprise me if the gasket is not available elsewhere.
  5. Ditto; Hats off to Doug and everyone else who work so hard to make this so much fun for the rest of us. Great folks and a lot of beautiful trucks.
  6. The AP bus? How right you are. What can I say; I'm retired and unless I read the paper I don't know what day of the week it is. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. They announced yesterday, Friday, that 500 trucks were already on the grounds. The weather is beautiful today so come on down as they say.
  7. Saturday morning and they are starting to really roll in now. The weather has cleared and it looks like it will be a great show. About 40 of us went to the TK last night. Great turn out and nobody did anything they'll regret or at least will admit they did.
  8. Have you tried Rock Auto?
  9. So far it has been a typical Macungie event..rain followed by a some more rain. I think it is supposed to clear up soon. Not too muddy yet.
  10. Very neat! Do you come to the shows to do drawings for the owners (for a fee of course)?
  11. Pictures?? If all else fails write the Museum for the shop drawing and have it made.
  12. I am at the Cabelas about 20 miles away for the same reason. I need to park the trailer on the paved lot if at all possible. OBTW Denny this is a great place to overnight in. Easy to get to and plenty of space in a dedicated RV area with a Dunkin Donut right across the street. See you tomorrow morning.
  13. Ken, Dave at D&D in Hagerstown, MD has a couple of the blue roll haulers on his lot.
  14. Welcome to VA. Coming to Macungie?
  15. Heading up tomorrow so I can get on the grounds early Thursday. Looking forward to seeing everyone and the weather looks OK for a change.
  16. They all say "Colorized by George Murphey" Nice shots
  17. I'm guessing you already jumped directly to the starter to rule that out?
  18. Keep checking the government auction sites. I have seen lots of CF's go for scrap money or even less.
  19. Your coupler looks like a "Victraulic" (sp??) connector that is commonly used on sprinkler piping. I'd check with a local sprinkler shop to see if they can help you out.
  20. You can try doing a car fax now that you have the chassis number.
  21. Thanks Dave, Have a safe trip back home.
  22. Condolences to the family. It would not have made a difference in this case since the brake controller was never connected to the trailer, but it is time to outlaw the use of electric/magnetic brakes in new equipment and to start equipping every trailer with electric over hydraulic brakes. Plain and simple electric/magnetic brakes are unreliable and the electric over hydraulic systems, particularly the disc brake systems, provide much more reliable braking without fading caused by the magnets overheating.
  23. Please share with us.
  24. Will it hold a vacuum? Just asking since I'm sure you guys draft on a regular basis. That much leakage would make me look around for something beyond the packing, especially if it will not hold a vacuum for more than a few seconds.
  25. Before you put another shaft in you need to find out why this happened as this is almost unheard of. Did you try to engage the pump at high speed by mistake? Was the pump frozen? A seized bearing? A broken shaft that is twisted and broken is probably a symptom of an issue, not the cause.
