And don't forget the ATHS National Show is in W. Springfield, MA May 31-June 2, 2012. This will be a good chance for the non east coast folks to come east to enjoy two shows. Come out for the ATHS show, take a couple of weeks vacation in New England or New York and than hit the Macungie show before heading home.

Firemack's friend had a nice H model for sale at the Lititz show. The owner is talking scrapping it if it doesn't sell soon. $2500.00. I know its along way from NC to PA, but it may be worth the trip to try it out.

I was wondering why there weren't any AerialScopes there. There must be several collector owned AerialScopes in that part of PA given how popular they were with the companies in that part of the world. So; How 'bout it AerialScope guys; next year we need an AerialScope to show so we can get some overhead shots.

I was there, but I missed the photo. Great show. Thanks to everyone who came by and gave me such kind comments about my rig. I especially enjoyed having Harvey Eckart go through the rig and point out what looks good and what needs work.

The book's title is "Mack Fire Trucks 1911 - 2005" It is available on Amazon. I think you will find that the 19 series rigs were assigned to the downtown companies that had the ability to use the FD only high pressure water supply system that ran through the so called "high value" district.

Do you still have the old parts? If so don't turn loose of them. Far too many folks have sent old parts to a store for them to match only to have them lost, etc. Is the engine missing or are you just trying to do routine maintenace? If it is missing or won't fire try filing the points with a points file (if you are less than 40 you probably don't know what that is; it is a small fine flat file designed to remove small pits and corrosion from points) or some fine emery cloth followed by a good cleaning with a soft paper put between the closed points. If you haven't done so yet call Cal Little, his contact info is on the Mack Museum site, and ask him about the parts. He has restored a similar pumper, so I'm sure he is familiar with them. If you still can't locate the parts, and you don't want to convert to electronics, PM me. One of the club members here is re-doing a mid thirties Mack and he found the distributor shaft at a parts house in NY. I'll contact him to get the name of the vendor if you still need it.

Another alternative would be to create a negative ground power box for use in the cab. All you need to do is to isolate it electrically from the truck by running wires directly to the power source as Fred recommends in the previous post. You could place cigarette lighter outlets that are negative ground in the box that would allow you to use devices such as GPS receivers or phone chargers as well as the radio hook up. I would create an isolated ground bar in the box with a wire running directly to the negative battery post and an isolated positive power strip powered by a direct wire to the positive battery post. Just make sure you protect the circuit at the battery with a fuse or circuit breaker.

There needs to be at least one fire truck.

Check the calendar section for a couple of posts about the show. I couldn't find an inexpensive place to stay where I thought the DW would approve of the property. We ended up at a Marriot property for around$150.00. I'm sure it's prime tourist time in the PA Dutch country so that's probably pushing the prices up.

Based on the license plates I assume this was in CO. Van Pelt, a CA fire apparatus builder, delivered a lot of rigs to that area and they seemed to favor Whites for their commercial cab stuff during that era. I'm guessing White must have been a popular truck on the west coast. It's pretty unusual to see a four door though, not much so for the white White as white is a popular fire apparatus color in the Denver area.

It didn't take long for the 63 B61 to sell. I guess somebody still has money to spend.

Most fire apparatus will still have a working dash throttle if you want to check out how Mack did it. The only difference may be that they will also have a pump panel mounted throttle that will most likely share some of the linkage as well. Sue, You should post this in the transmissions section with a title that reflects what you are asking for. Do you need a new shaft for the tranny or are you looking for info on how to pull it?

I was still on the job when the attacks occured. The jurisdiction I worked for was due at the Pentagon and we had a great many companies assisting Arlington County. I spent the 11th at our command post trying to get the companies and the USAR team that were working at the Pentagon rotated and relieved as needed and still answer our own calls. After spending 24 hours there I spent the next two nights at the Pentagon working in the command team. As in most tragedies this brought out a lot of the best in the folks who were there to help. I'll never forget the courage and determination that was shown by all of the responders to this viscious attack. May it never have to be displayed again.

I know where there is a Brockway sitting in a "collection" in NC. I cannot remember the collectors name right now, but when I get back in town I'll look it up and send it to you. I have no idea what shape its in.

We'll be out of town for a couple of weeks of R&R in Hawaii (life sucks, but somebody has to keep the economy going) so we'll miss this one. Any idea if they plan on making this an annual event?

I couldn't find any cheap places that seemed decent enough to keep the DW happy. I'm pretty sure it's due to the fall leaf season starting and being in the prime tourist area of Pennsylvania Dutch country on a fall week end. We are staying at a Marriott property for about $150.00 per night. I'm planning on bringing the 52. I could not find any information about a registration process; do you just show up?

Very nice. You don't see a single axle tractor pulling a lowboy very often. Did you make it to the show in NJ? When is the MH heading to the paint shop?

Has the flooding in that part of the world affected the show?
