  1. the stands are still there and doing well, but there have been no hogs on the farm in over 25 years. when i built the big stand out on the main highway back in 78 we could do pretty much what we wanted. but now you can not wipe your asterisk in the outhouse behind the barn without town approval. and speaking of that outhouse, the town wants it taken down because it is not sanitary. even though it has been in the current location since it was erected in 1882.
  2. our production cost was almost zero. we fed the pigs leftovers from the farm . any produce that did not sell that day in the farm stands was fed to the pigs. chickens were pretty much wild, they fed themselves while roaming the yard. the chickens also kept bugs almost non existent.
  3. nice shift indicator Larry. 😆
  4. 5 bucks says if you post this on the internet someone will try it!!
  5. i agree, nothing better than an air starter to make someone unexpectedly need to change their shorts.
  6. nothing worse than a pig that don't want to die. up until two years ago we did a pig roast twice a year. usually around 90 lbs. i have been toying with the idea of making a cuban oven for smaller pigs.
  7. that bring back memories of growing up on the farm. we used to process between 75 and 80 pigs every year. and if we did not have large pigs, the local stores would by 600 pounders and we would pick them up, and butcher them for them. the butcher shop is still there, but rarely used any more.
  8. yup, it should have ended 30 years ago.
  9. in new yawk you must have them, plus one to see across the front of the truck.
  10. yesterday. i had the hood mirrors on the macks for past 40 years, after i moved to the T800 3 years ago it took me about 3 months to get used to not having them. now with the new T880, i really do not miss then because of the way the truck is set up. the only real blind spot is about two foot around the passenger side bumper guide pole. my bigger problem is the new 65 mph mandate for large trucks. i limit out at 65 mph, but all the steering wheel holders are still doing 80 +
  11. it must be done online now. i log in and first question is this for address on letter. my answer is no. ok, can't file got to call. i call the 800 number. person asks the address, and i give to him. well that is the address on the envelope. ah no, that address is 5 miles, two town away in a different county. oh. what is your phone number i don't have a phone where are you calling from pay phone. oh well how do we get in touch with you send a letter. a few questions later, race white. nationality American. no, where are you from America where are your parents from america, just their parents, and their parent too. well where were your 4 times grandparents from. me: how the hell should i know, i was not born yet. oh. the questions ended with that one.

  12. that detroit needs the mufflers removed, and larger pipes!!
  13. many years ago there was a paving company that used a v8 superliner to pull the lowboy. it was named "thumper" and lived up to it's name. you could hear it coming with a load 1/2 mile away.
  14. you talking about the "thump" of the exhaust note? that is a distinguishing note of a V8 diesel.
  15. nothing better than laying in bad as a youngun with the window open, listening to the trucks out on the highway. yuo could always tell the detroits going by. and every now and they we would be treated to the unforgettable "thump "of a V8 powered mack.
  16. a lot Vlad. i remember the Newark NJ terminal. there were at least 100 there alone.
  17. a friend still has 4 of those 80's LTL's running on the road every day. they all have over 2 million miles on them, and look like hey just rolled off the assembly line. they run bulk concrete tankers, and get washed every afternoon before getting parked inside the garage. oil changed every month, and brakes adjusted every night too. once a month when oil is changed the trucks are gone over with a fine tooth comb. anything out of line is replaced immediately.
  18. WOW. the only references to pricing i found was for when it was introduced back in 2012, and the intro price was rite around $1000
  19. those human hoist creepers are way too expensive for my blood. well over $1000
  20. try being on the shooting range with a 44 mag in your hand when it decides to not want to hold anymore Larry. not fun...i thought the range safety officer was going to make an early deposit in the rear of his pants.
  21. i thought i was the only one with those problems....... i feel a little better now.
  22. i never knew the report post link was there, mainly because i rarely have the pointer in the post. and it does not show up in the top right corner unless the pointer is in the post body.
  23. i can neither confirm nor deny that alleged statement as per court order and the threat of removal from the whitless protection program.
  24. i thought that was my ex wife that sent that email...........and i never listened to anything she said.
  25. unfortunately, i lost all my guns in a tragic boating accident. they are all now on the bottom of the atlantic ocean after i got hit by a rouge wave and capsized the boat while duck hunting about 50 foot off shore a few years ago..... 😭 that's my story, and i am sticking to it!!!
