    is that a cracked windshield i see in the third picture??

    it ain't a "crack" one of the main beams snapped completely open 3/4 inch and shifted 2 inches to the side. i know the lead welder trying to fix it and inspect the rest of the structural steel. he said it is cheap china steel, and that the bridge most likely will need to be replaced.

    last i heard Bill Hiler sold off all or almost all his trucks and got out of the trucking business.

    i ran a 69 white 9000 for 5 years pulling a low boy in the early 80's just like the one behindthebarn posted. 290 cummins with a 10 speed. the engine in that one was not tilted, but it was halfway into the cab

    looks like one of the radiation detectors used in the ports, only without the scanner arm that goes over the trailer

    yup. build a little platform to go over the 5th wheel ball and plywood fits in there just fine.

    i put a few miles on a few of them. the 79 i put 450,000 miles on, the 88 i put 550,000 on, then i moved to r models and put over 1 million miles on 3 of them before moving to triaxles.

    unless you can put a full 4X8 sheet of plywood or sheet rock in the bed without breaking it, i consider it a car.

    i have seen a few restored come up for sale in the past 10 years or so, and the price was in the $35,000 + range on all of them

    my bet is the sign maker does not know the difference between an engine brake and an air brake. or is just an asterisk and does not care what the sign says.

    the only time i use the stake pockets is if i am using straps with the 3 inch wide strap ends. if the straps have hook style ends or using chains, they always get wrapped around the spindle.
