  1. i hate then "welfare recipients" i usually get 4-5 a year just as it starts getting cold.
  2. with ohm meter, check both the senter conductor, and the ground on the coax. if either one is not 0 or less than 1 ohm, your SWRs will be way off.
  3. it's got a headlight. and i bet that one light was probably good enough to light up the whole road for at least 50 foot in front of it!!!
  4. the little girls that call themselves truck drivers these days would all run away from that rig holding uop their skirts and screming their lungs out about it not having heat..........or windows..............or doors.........
  5. by the plate i am going to say somewhere in Europe
  6. used for lifting up sleeping elephants!!
  7. must have, the posting has been deleted.
  8. this is because the drivers are too stupid to see the great big DRAIN FUEL FILTER notice in the middle of the dash and keep on driving. then the water or whatever is in the filter gets into the fuel pump, destroying it. the metal shavings that come off the pump as it self destructs then gets pumped through the high pressure pump and injectors taking them out too. and the owner of the truck gets hit with a $12,000 bill to hand in to their insurance company befause the driver kept driving the truck instead of spending 2 minutes to drain the filter.
  9. we plow large warehouse lots in the winter, so 4X4 is needed. it don't always get used, but it is nice to be able to remove yourself from a slick situation instead of waiting for a machine to come pull you off an ice slick.
  10. the 2011 F550 4 door 4X4 mason dump with 4 men in cab, 6 ton of asphalt in the bed, and 272 cat skid steer with bucket, miller head, and broom on the trailer, runs almost as good as if it is empty. that combination is rite around 32,000 lbs. only very important thing is making sure the trailer brakes are in tip to shape when running loads like that.
  11. we have 3 at work. 2011 F-550, 2013 F550, and a 2014 F350 the F450 and 550 engines are detuned to around 325 to 350 hp. the 250 and 350 engines are between 400 and 450 hp depending on the year. the 2011 has 42,000 miles on it and has only had a few solenoids in the trans go bad. the 2013 suffered fuel pump failure, and a bad sensor in the exhaust. at 25,000 miles it had the emissions delete done. it now has around 30,000 miles on it. the F350 was deleted when new with under 1,000 miles on it, it now has a little over 72,000 miles on it with no problems. another company in the yard has around 30 F350 and F450's all with over 150k miles on them. no major issues, some little ones like fuel filter brackets breaking, cracked fuel lines, and a couple turbo oil line o-rings leaking. .
  12. i download pictures to a web picture sharing site. i use photobucket. the nice thing about photobucket is that they automatically resize pictures for proper format so you do not post giant or miniture pictures. than just copy and paste the link from there.
  13. that is to turn the hot water on/off for the heater. there is an electric motor inside the heater box that turns hot water on/off, but they usually burn out over time. the valve on the water manifold is a mechanical way to control hot water to the heater core. i usually open it about 1/4 turn in the winter so i do not cook in the cab. then close it in the summer for AC. the electric motor in my heater box is bad, and it is easier to just open/close the valve than it is to take the box apart and relace the motor.
  14. i screwed this one up. answer is in the next post
  15. i am wondering why they want to buy it from you when they "cant get it running" it really sounds to me like they know exactly what is wrong with it, and have someone waiting to buy it for a lot of money once you sell it to them for a song and dance.
  16. that is the electrical malfunction light. pretty much any thing can set it off. my 05 has a loose connection somewhere in the pyrometer circuit that is always setting the light. another one i get is #1 injector motor weak, but i only get that when letting the engine idle to warm up on cold days. once i get going it goes away.
  17. i had a chance to buy one of those many years ago. all stock fire service truck. i still kick myself in the asterisk every time i think about it. it was at an auction. ran, but no brakes. ended up selling for $250. the only reason i did not buy it was because i had no pllace to store it for 6 months as i was in the process of moving out of state.
  18. nost likely a short in the rear lights or associated wiring.
  19. they starting these BS rumors again?? autoblog has been saying this for over 15 years, AND IT STILL IS NOT TRUE.
  20. there is a junction box on the back of the frame all rear lights are connected to. the terminals get corroded and you loose connections. clean everything up real good back there and you should be golden
  21. yea, i know. i was just being a smartass.
  22. i bet it would loose it's "fizz" before you got to drink it all too!!
  23. i don't know if there are any pictures of it on the internet, or even how to look for it. but back in 85 or 86 mack trucks did a photo shoot for either their magazine or their dealer display brocures that showed a new red DM800 in the mud, with the tires spinning and the driver looking back and down out the window. that was me in the truck.
  24. John Laceys DM800 started life as a V8 truck, he swapped in a 350 and 8ll trans 10-15 years ago. still runs i talmost every day.
  25. sounds like a fun car. what are you asking for it?
